This place is the best taco place in the Santa Monica area, and I know my authentic flavors. Its like a taco cart but it’s clean, good music, friendly service and bomb tasting food. The asada tacos take the cake. Check them out for happy hour Mon– Fri … REALLY !!! Good !!!

This spot is legit. Carne asada, pollo mole and nachos are all phenomenal, and their house hot sauces are delicious and just the right spicy. I would give it 5 stars, but the tacos al pastor were a bit less than stellar – not bad, but more 4 star than 5.

Me gusta. Taco libre hits the magical trifecta: cost, quantity, and taste. All check. The tacos are generous in size and delicious. I was surprisingly full after 1.5 tacos. Bonus points for being open late!

I love Taco Libre!!! It took me a little while to get the food but it was worth it! I wish there was stuff like this on the East Coast, makes Chipotle look like a joke. I had the taco and a giant quesadilla with cheese melting out of the sides. They are generous with their portions reasonably priced and the menu is easy to navigate. What more could you ask for? Get a Jarritos while you are in there too!

It’s great but idk why the taco have to be $ 3 each. It’s no different from Taco down in OC and it cost 10 times less. The fish taco of course is never fell anywhere, my cousin bought it and it was super crispy on the outside and tender on the inside. My, carne asada burrito was good for $ 8 but I feel like they need to fix that $ 3 for only one taco. Taco there is small af.

The only saving grace is the breakfast burrito, reasonably priced and fairly good, unlike the rest of the their menu. Their sauces are actually pretty good as well. Came back to try a regular Asada burrito and very disappointed, meat lacked real flavor, wrapped sloppily and ingredients semed to be lacking. My coworker had their tacos, not only did they get her order wrong Asada instead of chicken(don’t know how that happens) they were overpriced and underwhelming, presentation wise they looked ok. The branding and presentation of the place is what initially drew my attention(gotta love the Lucha libre taco concept). The delivery and price point is where it falls short and takes a moonsault. I’m hesitant to try anything else on the menu. If I do it might only be for the breakfast burrito. There’s a couple better mexican options in the area, one in the mall and the other being Tacos Please(translate the please to spanish).

Do not, I repeat, DONOT eat here expecting good food. Came here with my husband and our best friends ;) expecting to have some amazeballs tacos(based off of all the Unilocal reviews) and we were all disgusted and seriously SERIOUSLY disappointed, and to top it off half of us got the sh*ts that night and our stomachs were all hurting pretty badly. First off, the beef here tastes like cat food, I’m not even sure that it is really beef. My husband and I ordered 2 carne asada tacos, a potato crispy taco, and a chicken taco, and our friends got a carne asada taco, crispy potatoe taco, and chicken taco. The carne asada tacos were so bad, we had to return them and ask for something else. When my husband went to ask for something else, the girl at the cash register rolled her eyes FORDAYYYSSS, and then mumbled something to the cook in Spanish… so unprofessional! We were legit worried that they were going to spit in our food… but the beef was just SOEXTREMELY terrible, we could not get ourselves to eat it. We got a shrimp taco instead. The shrimp and chicken tacos were ok, but absolutely nothing special, and very bland. We had to drench them in salsa to down them because we were so hungry. The potato crispy taco was good, but was filled and dripping with oil, there was a puddle of oil in our plate from it. At the end of the night, we all walked out of there completely unsatisfied and wishing we ate somewhere else. To top it off, all 4 of us had stomach pain and half of us got the run that night… not a good sign! Both food and service was just terrible here for all 4 of us, and I would not recommend it to anyone.

A-OK: Popped in after a day at the beach and ordered an array of tacos– chicken, pastor, & carne asana. They’re each $ 3& are street taco sized so less filling than expected. The al pastor was the most flavorful of the bunch. The red and green sauces are good and add a nice kick, however I wish the tacos were ‘dressed’ more(with veggies/onion/cilantro/pico). UHRUSRS: ‘chips and salsa’ actually just means chips and larger servings of the red and green sauces they give you. When I read ‘salsa’ I was expecting fresh pico de gallo… Might as well just get chips and ask for extra servings of their sauce. AVOID!!!: Their ceviche is disgusting. Mostly tomato sauce and way way way too sweet. I was expecting some light flavorful tangy citrusy seafood goodness and instead I got a ratio of 4:1 of sugary tomato water to seafood. So disappointing and at $ 12, I definitely paid for my mistake. It’s alright if you’re craving tacos in the area, but I won’t be returning.

This new little place has a ton of potential. Very amazingly priced for area and a quick spot for lunch! I love that they have so many sauces to put on your burrito! I’ve been to Taco Libre for lunch… my experience was great! However, just this morning… I ordered a breakfast burrito. If your menu is going to seemingly include all of the ingredients in the item you are ordering, it needs ALL of them. I personally HATE lettuce and I was so disappointed to find half a head of lettuce in my breakfast burrito. Additionally, I paid for guacamole… and didn’t receive any in my burrito.

Overall great quality w the price around the area. Best Tacos are Super loaded w meat — really made to split into two since served w two tortillas u could think of it as 2 for $ 3. Nice change up w the diced red onions instead of white on the Asada taco w cilantro. Full of flavor, perfectly diced, no fatty chunks, very tender, and not so greasy. Chicken mole had more shredded chicken w their perfect amount of mole that doesn’t drop all over the place. Chicken wasn’t dry which was awesome. Potato tacos(1 for $ 3) are my favorite and hard to come by without skimping on the potato, being extra tiny, or being soaked in grease from frying, but OMG this is hands down my favorite place to get a potato taco — MEGUSTOMUCHO. Es mejor haha. Definitely deserves to be under the«Favoritos» menu. Freshly fried crispy taco shell topped w lettuce, tomatoes, & cotija cheese. Green melon agua fresca was on point — not too sweet and puréed. Guess the one flavor they offer gets changed out, not sure how often. Churros are a decadent dessert here, not just fried w sugar on top. Filled with, I think, cajeta. Then drizzled w strawberry and chocolate sauce haha Super bomb. Extra sweet. Only for those w a sweet tooth. Definitely worth coming back and hope it gets the traffic it deserves once the street construction is done on Colorado.

This place was amazing and the customers service is ok, but they made up for it for there tacos. We order and eat like 57.00 on tacos and left happy and full. We order one of everything. It’s right off the water or near it Aleast. The bathroom kinda piss me off. Need a bigger bathroom ppl . Oh…and they let homeless ppl bug you for money in there place. I did not like that at all. I was eating. But is they fix that I would of 5 star it.

Great Crispy Taco! And the Burritos was so good too! I loved the fact they serve salads there — the Mango salad was soooooooo good!
