I attended a production of Shakespeare’s King Lear here over the weekend. This is a very low budget production but honestly I was amazed as to how the cast poured their hearts out to present this classic tragic masterpiece. I give them two thumbs up for remembering all those difficult lines. Great production and got to meet a few of the cast members after the show. Definitely will look out for more productions like these at the Miles Memorial Playhouse. Ensure to grab dinner before attending small events like these as there might not be food/snacks on sale. For this specific production, there was water available for purchase for $ 1 each. You may also want to take a small cushion if your show lasts more than an hour as the seats do become a little uncomfortable after a while.

I was told this is the oldest playhouse on the West Coast. The small Spanish Colonial Revival Theater was built in 1929 and designed by John Byers. I love the thick adobe walls, huge wooden beams, and antique light fixtures. It feels historical but has been fully renovated to support local non-profit theater. If you are in town check out thier list of events. It’s worth the visit.

Delightful proscenium theatre in Santa Monica. Right off Wilshire, by the Park, next to the tennis courts. A lovely theatre space with a nice backstage area, green rooms, etc. And onstage, its nice, too. What you have here, is a comfortable venue that serves the community well.

The Miles Memorial Playhouse is one of the best kept performance spaces in the Los Angeles area. It has a mission feel and the inside is cozy with warm acoustics and a pleasant atmosphere. It is off the beaten path and run by the city, so only open for non-profit organizations, but you have a chance to see something that interests you, you will not be disappointed with this small, clean and well-run theatre. Book your show today! 5 noses up! :)

A smaller but nice theater in Santa Monica. Worth checking out to use as a theater space or seeing a show in it.
