First time I went to this location… I’ve been going to the one in Fillmore. This place is way better! Better customer service! Great food! And the thing I loved about this place is the seating you have more privacy! Will definitely stop by again!

Great food, friendly staff but my michelada and boyfriends bud lights were hot upon arriving to our table. This is our second time here and the first time our beer was cold. We will be back in the future. Family friendly place

Just left this place. to say I was disappointed is an understatement. Anyone respect and honor nurses? Well they don’t! Appearently they added themselves on a roster where they listed themselves as a discounted restaurant in support of the nurses who often go 12 hours without a lunch because they’re to busy saving lives. The impression given was that he(the owner) was severely surprised and knew nothing about it YET he asked who put the flyer together and was able to describe what she looked like and her age, he just stated he knew nothing about it but def did. He put himself on the roster to make his restaurant look supportive and helpful but is far from. He would only honor it when a nurse was on lunch is what he said, he clearly doesn’t know that when you spend your day saving lives u don’t have the luxury of asking your patient to stay alive as u grab a bite to eat.

Have been coming her since 1995 and it gets better and better. From the cheesy quesadilla to the fresh cilantro camarons to the fajitas al pescador, you can’t go wrong. Can’t go wrong with a side of homemade beans, very good, and some chunky guacamole, fantastic. Love the visit to our table by the owner, so friendly.

There is nothing Mexican about their food here the rice is the same instant rice as taco bell. The chile rellenos is loaded with egg, they do not use real cheese. The servers push beer like there is no tomorrow. The server aptitude leaves a lot to desire. I asked for salt, she come over and drop the salt shaker at my table, without saying a word. Their beans are flavorless not even enough salt to make them taste decent. T he guacamole is a combination of paste and fresh ingredients, gross! If you want Mexican food, please look for a small independent restaurant.

Went in with a family of four on a busy Good Friday afternoon and was seated promptly. Our server was great and the food was spectacular as always. I ordered the Oysters Presidentiales as an appetizer and wow they were so good. I’m a big Oyster fan and they dress them up with ceviche style topping and slices of avocado. My actual entrée was the Rosarito special which I highly recommend. Give it a try if you haven’t already!

We drove out to visit relatives in Santa Paola, and did a Unilocal search, and found El Pescador! What a fantastic place to have Brunch on Sunday! Since it was mom’s birthday, they surprised her with a dessert and we were so satisfied with the delicious fish soup! Great restaurant to invite friends and family!

Was in town for my son’s baseball game and El Pescador was highly recommended by some of the locals. Well known around town for their seafood dishes we had to try. Atmosphere was warm. Typical mexican restaurant with fast, friendly service. The smell of seafood was intoxicating so if you don’t like seafood you may not want to come here… fortunately I do! Don’t remember the names of all the dishes we got but everyone enjoyed their meals. Portions were big and service was spot on.

I first had my Huachinango a la Veracruza in the state of Veracruz in the city of Veracruz in a fine restaurant at the Hotel Prendes in the Centro. The red snapper was whole including the head & tail, as it should be for true pescatorians, and it was probably powdered with a light corn starch & deep fried. The whole fish was then placed in a large dish almost the size of a platter, and a light fresh tomato, garlic sauce with thin slices of sweet pepper, onions, and whole Spanish brined olives was poured around the crispy fish. The light, firm yet moist white meat of the red snapper still retained the sweet minerality of the sea, & the fish so crisped that you could eat the skin, meat, & even some of the bones itself.(great way to get natural calcium) The onions & sweet peppers served as a palate cleanser to the fried fish, and the salty, tart Spanish olives was a good contrast to the mild sweetness that was the red snapper. We sat down for lunch at El Pescador or the fisherman, and the first sampling was their fried corn tortilla chips & house salsa cruda. The chips were over fried so that it tasted slightly bitter, & the tomato based salsa tasted basically fine & had a soupçon of cilantro, but there was not even a touch of chile heat. I could tell this was marketed more for a «huero» clientele. I’m sure those of us who want a more picante profile in our salsa will have to grab that bottle of Tapatio, or Huichol in order to produce a more palatable flavour profile. The chips & salsa were not the best omen for presaging a good meal in a Mexican restaurant, but I still decided to order the El Pescador version of Huachinango a la Veracruzana. True to form, the fish was actually a red snapper & not the cheaper, less elegant Mojarra or Tilapia. The snapper was whole & fried to a nice crisp, but not over done. The sweet pepper, onions, tomatoes were sauted in a lightly thickened tomato sauce and poured over the Huachinango. This was a slight departure from the my experience at Hotel Prendes, but still acceptable. The main difference was that El Pescador did not use much garlic or a little bit of hot chiles to add more flavour contrast. Again, it seems to me that the food was deliberately«wussified» to appeal to a more broad segment of customers. I didn’t get why El Pescador included a dollop of bland, tasteless, Norte Americano style potato salad which created a culinary dissonance to a very quintessential Mexican dish from the Gulf of Mexico. All the food above was paired with a Modelo Negro dark Mexican beer which although the color was oscuro, the flavour was light, refreshing with only a touch of smokiness & treacle. We finished off by sharing a Flan with a touch of caramel sauce. The flan was rich egg tasting, dense almost like cheese cake, and it was pleasantly not overly sweet. It was garnished with two radioactive red dyed Maraschino cherries which I put on top of the potato salad that would not be eaten anyway. El Pescador is a solid 3+ Unilocal star Mexican restaurant that potentially can have even more«authentic», bold Mexican flavours, but can’t seem to do so because it feels it needs to cater to a broader customer base, and fears alienating them. But they do make a rather decent Huachinango a la Veracruzana for only $ 12.95. It’s a good deal. Just be sure to bring your own powdered Pico de Gallo, or freshly sliced Habanero, or a little finely chopped Ajo to amp up the volume.
