All you turkey sandwich lovers,(or anyone who loves a good sandwich period) you MUST try this place!!! The hot turkey sandwich is insanely good. It’s the best turkey sandwich I’ve had in years, maybe ever? I had them make it their way. These guys really know how to make an awesome sandwich. They’re super friendly people too. Just come here if you’re in the mood for a killer sandwich, you won’t be disappointed!

I was conducting a cheese steak investigation. There was a lot of recent chatter about this funky little joint in Santa Paula. One of my informants, Heather K., insisted Santa Paula Steak and Hoagie had BOMB cheese steaks. Another reliable source, James B., told me that this place was known to supply bags of fresh cut french fries. I knew it was my duty to follow up on the leads. It was 6:30 pm, dinner time, when I rolled into the parking lot. Immediately I was caught off guard. Other than the grill cook and the counterman, the place was completely empty. Was this some sort of set up? What was I walking into? I caught the eye of the man behind the counter. I got right to the point with the counterman. I told him word on the street was that he was pushing fat cheese steaks. He didn’t deny it. He just sort of smiled and said that for two bucks and change they will BOMB any of their sandwiches. I was shocked by his candor, but I continued my interrogation. He didn’t hold back. He explained all the soups were made in house. He offered me a sample of the tomato as proof. Damn that was good soup. Then I looked him dead in the eye and asked about the fries. He confirmed what my sources had told me: they’re hand cut, and plentiful. Now I had everything I needed to know. I ordered a cheese steak with onions, peppers and mushrooms. Marinara, he asked? Yeah, I told him. Give me the marinara. Give me the marinara on the side. And one more thing, Mr. counterman. Yeah?, he asks. Give me an order of those fries. He smiled. I paid and sat down. I took out my phone and logged a Check In with headquarters. I snapped a couple pictures but before I could post them my fries were ready. The counterman brought them to my table with a half a bottle of Trader Joe’s organic ketchup. I thought, Holy hell that’s a lot of fries. A few minutes later here comes my cheese steak. Things started happening fast. It was beefy, melty, beefy, and beefy. There were onions peppers and mushrooms everywhere. There was no way this sandwich could be contained by any damn bread. This sandwich was a bomb and the fuse was lit… BOOM! Mikey C says: the story you have read is true. None of the names were changed to protect the innocent.

This review is for the most recent trips to the Steak and Hoagie shop here in Santa Paula. I went here last night Thursday April 28th2016 and ordered the same order I order every time I order from here. On Thursday April 21st2016 I had the same issues that I had last night and that is why I’m writing this review in the negative. The last 2 times I’ve ordered from here they have lacked the consistency of previous orders. In the past prior to the 21st when ordered a steak sandwich bombed with extras the sandwich overflowed with goodness. Last night and last Thursday my sandwiches lacked substance and was very disappointing since I’m paying for all the extras and receiving non. I should mention prior to this this placed has never disappointed me when I’ve ordered from them. I’m hoping it’s a fluke and things will return to normal soon or I will not be returning. I truly hate spending money on poor service or poor quality of either food or quantity that I’m supposed to receive. If I was you I wouldn’t order the sandwich as bomb or ask for extras, because there’s a chance your sandwich will be lacking these thing, but your wallet will still have to pay for them. Just an FYI!

OUTSTANDING experience! This was my first time here and I will definitely be back. The owner was very helpful and explained the sandwiches, both hot and cold. He was friendly and very personable. Great sense of humor and he made it easy to order. The only problem is that there are so many choices! Hard to decide which sandwich to order. I ended up ordering the Cheesesteak and my friends ordered the hot pastrami and the pizza cheesesteak(it had mozzarella cheese on it). We also ordered fries(a pound!) between us which was perfect. They were GOOD fries, too! The food was served to us quickly and hot. What really made this a neat experience is the owner checked on us several times, reminded us that the sodas were bottomless, and asked if we needed anything further. We came around 12:45(thinking we’d beat the lunch rush) and there were lots of people who came in after us. Busy, busy place. I don’t know why I haven’t been here before! The sandwiches were amazing! My friend almost inhaled his pastrami sandwich, and I loved my cheesesteak. The bread was soft, the grilled onions were so tasty. The owner suggested an add of marinara which I gladly agreed to. So good! On our way out, the owner offered to wrap up my sandwich, and even noticed that I had spilled something on my shirt and came over with a rag and offered it to me so I could wipe it off. This place definitely knows how to provide customer service! I will be back here for sure to try more sandwiches!

Loved their customer service. I ordered a Philly w/everything, made it double meat. Shared but wanted to have less than half so they listened. Our fresh homemade fries came out and my 1⁄3 and his 2⁄3. See pictures.

The food taste great, they could add a lil more meat in the sandwiches. They are also smaller than the steak n hoagies located in Oxnard, other than that it’s a great place!

GREAT food. Craved philly cheese steaks one day and looked around. Found this little gem here and decided to give it a try. Ordered one and boy let me tell you. AMAZINGGGGG. I also asked if they had nacho cheese for them and they didn’t. But they melted some cheese and threw it on the fries no problem. Bombbbb. The dude who work here are nice as can be and very helpful. It’s the little things like that that make you want to keep coming back.

Such great hometown customer service, lightning fast service and divine sandwiches! I had the pastrami –meat was tender, good authentic east coast style food. Cream of Broccoli soup was the soup of the day and it was perfect on cold day!!! The owner offered the customers in the restaurant a sample. Wish they had longer hours but when a place is a family owned place they do have to make time for family.

Really good sandwich place. I’ve been in SoCal all my life so I’m not a hoagie expert but I know what I like and I like this place. Surprisingly my favorite sandwich is the egg salad, different than any place else. Get extra napkins!

The owner and his wife are sooooooooo nice and helpful! The food is FANTASTIC! I had the pizza steak and it was delicious! The steak is so tender and not chewy whatsoever. My coworker got the pastrami and judging by the fact that he finished it, I’d say it was delicious also! We also shared fries and they tasted just like the in n out fries, maybe even better. Overall, great place for lunch with fantastic service!

Been in love with this place since it first came to santa paula. And I’ve been ordering the same thing since… mushroom cheesesteak, no onion, no sauce, with mayo. Tonight, I tried something new. Made it a bomb! The double meat and double cheese took it to a whole new level. As usual, great overall service and looking through the pics from other reviewers, I’ll be straying from my go to sandwich and trying some of their other menu items! Final note: they give you lots of fries, so it would be best to share. And next time, I’ll be asking for mine with no salt and adding it myself

We stopped by here on our way to Ojai and were pleasantly surprised by our experience. The owners are super sweet and friendly. We came in with our two littles and asked about a kids menu which they did not have.(It was fine, we had other stuff to feed them and we were only picking up anyway.) But as we waited for our order the owner gave us extra drink cups to give the kids drinks and made sure to pack all the condiments we could possibly need for our takeout. Hubby got the Italian sub which he proclaims is one of the best he’s had. EVER in his life. And I got the philly cheesesteak with mushrooms and was in LOVE. I wish we lived closer… or maybe I don’t since it wouldn’t be good for my diet! :P Kiddo tip: It’s a bit threadbare in there… just basic tables and chairs… and no kids menu as I mentioned. But if your kid is old enough to chow down on a sandwich then go here and share a sandwich! They’re pretty big and very filling.

My fiancé and I always share the hot pastrami sandwich with an egg added with a side order of fries and usually the soup of the day! Meal is usually 20 $ for the both of us. The owner, George?, is awesome! He is always so funny and outgoing. He definitely tries to make sure you have everything you need and even offer to fill up your drink for you — very attentive, great customer service! The pastrami sandwich is good. Not the best pastrami I’ve had but comparable. As for the fries, some days are good and some days are okay. They are thick cut so may not always be crispy but always hot and made to order. The soup of the day is quite the highlight of the meal — we tried barley and chili and one other I cannot recall. Always very flavorful. I always go here because service is quick and it’s close to where I work. Otherwise though, probably wouldn’t drive in from Ventura just to eat here. Worth a stop here if you’re in SP though!
