Would like more options, but i understand the fish market varies from season to season. please continue business here! we have needed a sushi place, desperately. got a spicy crab roll while on the go for $ 5, pretty tasty, quickly prepped. need more time here, but I like what I grabbed

We were looking for something to do in Santa Paula at 2pm on a Monday, and it didn’t take long to realize that there isn’t diddly squat to do in that town. We decided to go get some food as a consolation, and settled on Yokozuna. I was really impressed with the menu. There are rolls and dishes here that I had never seen in other sushi spots. I recommend the sashimi cocktail. We also got the lobster tail dish, and my date said it was a bit oily or greasy, but maybe it was just that batch. We got there just in time for happy hour,(3−6pm) which I thought was an amazing deal. $ 4 rolls and starters like gyoza, seaweed salad, and other stuff. Then they have $ 5 rolls in a bunch of varieties like salmon/avocado/cream cheese or Philadelphia, or eel rolls. BOOZESPECIALSTOO! WOOHOO! Buy one beer or sake, get the 2nd one for 99 cents. The service was somewhat lacking, we sat at the bar and the staff felt pretty cold, but the menu selection and value more than made up for it. Honestly, a part of me settled on this place because of the name. Wasn’t that the name of the WWF wrestler? I was hoping I’d wallk in there and see murals of old school WWF icons. No such luck, but still a great sushi spot!

My family and I went for an early dinner. Upon entering we kind of had to sit ourselves, the waitress appeared a little spaced out, she had no type of interaction skills, not once did she smile or checkin for refills of water; it was very awkward. Due to very odd service not sure if I will return. The sushi in the other hand was good and does have a cultural spin to it. This review gets 1 star but I am willing to change it if their service and ambiance of the restaurant improve, the whole point of going to a sushi restaurant is to get you rolling and wanting more which didn’t happen here.

No one in when I was there at 4pm. Happy hour tempura was good, only one shrimp. Had 20 piece sashimi special and replaced octopus with more of other fish. Mackerel was not good, too fishy, she brought me more white fish. The rest was very good and super filling. 20 bucks for 20 piece was worth it.

It’s hard to rate this place accurately. I’ve been here more than a few times. The food has been spectacular and fresh every time, but the service seems to be getting worse the longer this place stays open. Wait times for rolls seems to be increasing as well. The manager is very nice and helpful, but we’ve had incorrect rolls delivered, and ordered additional drinks from the wait staff, only to wait an eternity to get them delivered to the table. Food would be 4 stars, but service would be 1.5−2 in all honesty. I’m really rooting for this place to step up their game. They’re a great addition to Santa Paula.

4 stars for food 2 stars for service My review can be easily summed up by this: I would definitely eat here again… but only to-go. No problems with the food at all. Everything was really good, but the service and place itself left something to be desired. It’s just way too cramped in there. People bumping into each other and we were asked if they could move our table mid-meal to make room for a party of 5. Not a huge deal, but just kind of weird. The guy at the front is nice and friendly but the waitresses(can they even be called that?) are a bunch of really young girls who looked confused/bored/unhappy the entire time. And it might help if they learned at least a tiny bit about the menu. Maybe even just looked through it a few times.

The place was packed tonight but we still managed to get a table right away. Albacore sushi was definitely up to par with some of my favorite places. We had the Washington Roll, new York steak roll, a crunch roll and gyoza as an appetizer. Overall the food was delicious. I almond didn’t recognize the inside of the space. It was functional and pretty. My only complaint was there was only 2 servers and we waited a bit longer than I would have cared to for someone to take our order. But the food came out quickly.

I was excited to try this place out. Not only is it a new restaurant, but a Japanese one, which is not common for this area. Yay! The food was actually really good. What I had a major issue with was the service. There were two waitresses, and they just looked completely lost. I went in with my 6 year old and 11 month old, and I guess some young people just don’t understand that people with kids have a very small time frame before a meltdown begins. Especially when a baby in a hair chair is involved. I had to ask for a menu. Then I had to ask for my order to be taken. Then I had to ask for my drinks… you get the drift. And there were only 2 other tables in there at the time. I wouldn’t have been as irritated if I hadn’t caught the two waitresses gossiping and talking by the hostess stand 3 times. My son loves miso soup with extra tofu, and when I asked the waitress to bring the soup with tons of extra tofu(we would pay extra), she just looked at me like I was an alien. I wasn’t sure if I had to explain it to her again or not. Yes, I know it’s not common for a kid to love tofu, but it is what it is, and if I order it, just bring it. I don’t feel like I should need to explain myself on why I was ordering extra tofu. I got a bento box with the teriyaki salmon, and the California roll. Both were really good(which is what will bring me back), but the poor girl didn’t bring me a saucer for the soy sauce. Or the wasabi and ginger. After awhile I began to get embarrassed that I was asking for so many things. But, I needed soy sauce with my roll, right?! And then she brought my six-year old’s teriyaki sauce with sriracha sauce or chili garlic sauce straight in the middle. So here I go again, asking for normal teriyaki sauce so that it won’t burn my little kid’s tongue off. I asked for the check when I got the food just as a precaution. My 11 month old was close to throwing herself out of the high chair, and cheerios just weren’t cutting it anymore, so I just had to get a move on. All in all, the food was really good. Especially for not having to travel to Moorpark, Ventura, or Santa Clarita. And really reasonably priced for lunch. I just hope that they get better servers, or train the ones they have.

This place could be better. It just opened so maybe it needs to work out the kinks but my first experience wasn’t that great. I got a combination plate so I could try out a few dishes. I got the shrimp and veggie tempura that was very oily, it left me with an oil feeling in my throat most of the night after. I also got a California roll that fell apart, my assumption is they didn’t roll it tight. I also got sesame chicken which was good. Along with the meal was miso soup that needed more miso, it was very watered down. I was surprised to get my side salad with ranch dressing all over it, every other Japanese place I’ve gone to has sesame dressing. As for the service… There was only 6 other customers in the restaurant and my water was empty for most of my meal. The atmosphere was nice but they were playing rap music… in a Japanese restaurant. The prices were a little high but not bad considering I didn’t have to drive out of town for sushi. I won’t be going back any time soon but I will give this place another try after they’re better established.
