What a terrific place! You walk in and immediately feel at home. Nice, local restaurant with really good food. 9 of us had dinner, and everything we got was outstanding. Our server, Lynne, was a real standout, too. She patiently answered all of our questions and took the time to help my vegetarian niece pick out something that she could eat. We will definitely come back next time we are in Santa Rosa!

Had the pulled pork nachos, they were good, not great. Would have been better but cheese wasn’t melted all the way. Still tasty, could have been better.
My better half got the two meat combo with ribs and pulled pork. Damn fine Q right there. Ribs had char, were smoky, tender, and had plenty of meat. Pulled pork was juicy, smoky, good mix of bark. Fries were fresh cut and perfect.
Corn nuggets were good as an app.
Will return.

We are staying at Topsail Hill Preserve State Park this week, and saw this place coming in. It’s less than a mile from the campground, so I looked it up and saw that they have award winning gumbo. Well, I couldn’t pass up an opportunity to taste some really good gumbo, and it did not disappoint! Husband® and I both got a bowl and wow! It’s some of the best I have ever had. Plus, we were able to take our yorkiepoo and sit outside, so we were delighted. Great service too. We are probably going back tonight for the mahi salad and beef brisket and probably corn nuggets, I mean, why not, right? Can’t wait! They do not have the gumbo every day, so call ahead and check, but whatever the soup of the day is, it’s probably delicious.

Great barbecue! Pork, brisket and chicken are delicious. We’ve tried the baked beans, Cole slaw and potato salads as sides and they are all tasty too. Friendly staff, we’ve dined in and done carry out for both lunch and dinner. Nice change from the typical beach-​y seafood fare!

Best BBQ here in Florida. We usually get the brisket sandwich. They are delicious & you will get plenty of meat. The sides are awesome too! Baked Beans are so yummy! Great place to watch football, basketball or baseball games. Restaurant is kid friendly. My hubby loves the super HOT sauce. I LOVE the yellow BBQ sauce! One thing I love about this restaurant is that they have a roll of paper towels on each and every table.

A local couple recommended 98 bbq and we are so glad! The atmosphere is kid friendly. The service was quick and the food… oh my goodness. The brisket was tender and smokey. The pulled pork was flavorful. But the highlight for me was my wing dinner. Best wings I’ve ever had. We will definitely go back next time we are in Destin.

Coming from Memphis BBQ was something I knew I would miss but luckily 98 BBQ is here! Always have a good time coming to this spot and indulge myself in southern greatness. Highlights– CORN NUGGETS (best) fried creamy corn swimmin in ranch dressing soooo gooood! I may name my first born Cornelius Nuggeius ! The mini sweet potato tots are amazing with honey mustard! And on Tuesday they have a pile of rip tips with two sides for around $ 16. Awesome deal! All the staff is super sweet and the cooks are bada$$. Def one of the spots to check out in Santa Rosa Beach!

Off of 30A away from the tourist destinations but only 2 – 3 miles from 30A. Mostly locals but worth a trip for good BBQ at reasonable prices. I had a combo of ribs and brisket with slaw and cheesy corn nuggets. Ribs excellent, tender fall off the bone. Brisket, excellent, moist tender, pour whatever sauce you like on it or have plain, it doesn’t matter it was good. Cheesey corn nuggets was new for me and I wonder where have these been all my life. Slaw nothing special but I do like a vegetable that isn’t fried when I have red meat. Strip mall location shouldn’t hinder you going in, it’s worth a 10 min car ride. Family of four with drinks was $ 72

Found this place a year ago and knew I was coming back this year. Had a combo plate tonight with the brisket and the pulled pork. Excellent. The outer crust on the brisket is like on tv shows. Don’t let the strip mall location scare you away, this place is the real deal. One thing, there are better sides than the baked beans, mine were a bit cold.

Best BBQ in Santa Rosa Beach. Lucky me I live only a mile away. The best part about their pulled pork is it always has a lot of crispy edges mixed in whether you order a plate or sandwich. Lots of bark. Great stuff. Their sauces are unbeatable also.

Had the brisket and pulled pork. The best part was the mustard bbq sauce. Nice people, but the bark of the pork was hard. My stomach didn’t take too well afterwards :(

It’s a little bit of a drive from Destin, but if you’re really wanting barebecue, then it’s probably worth the give or take 20 minutes.
It’s also close to 30A, if you’re want something better than food truck BBQ.
It’s not that the food is so good it really blows you away, but for the area, the portions are generous and the price isn’t that high.

If your looking for great food that is inexpensive– this is the place!
One of the best Bbq me and my fiancé have ever had! You can’t go wrong with anything, but I do think their pulled pork, pulled chicken, brisket and ½ chicken are the best!
Sides are large and cheap to add. Apps are also large (corn nuggets are amazing).
Side salads are great size and come with more than enough dressing which they provide on the side.
Service is also very good. Same lady we see every time we are there… Very helpful, but doesn’t hover.
Must try for sure!

Hubby and I vacationed in Destin last week. We frequent the area most summers, but we had never seen 98 before. We got in after driving 17 hours and just wanted food! Being a two minute drive from our rental, we stopped in.
There was only one other couple there, on a Saturday night which originally had me worried. But we were served immediately. We both had the brisket sandwich, mine with corn nuggets and hubby had the fries. It didn’t look like much but dang, was it tasty. The brisket was moist and their spicy sauce complimented well. But the corn nuggets… oh the corn nuggets. So good! Sweet and fried, what’s not to like?
Even on vacation, we still keep a budget and this meal was definitely wallet friendly. Everything and drinks for $ 25. We will definitely be back next year!

We catered 98 BBQ to do a party we hosted while on vacation in Seaside. Jon and team were great to work with, even lowering my first request based on the numbers of people I gave him. We had some of almost every meat, and most of the sides and deserts. All were delicious, my favorites being the pulled pork and the beef brisket. Our party all commented on how good everything was, plus we had left overs for half of our vacation.
Delivery was on time and well taken care of. Much appreciated and I would recommend them again.
