I really like this place. I’ve purchased several pairs of glasses and had several eye exams. Not the cheapest place but I’ve been ok with that. My one word of caution is DON’T get talked into the custom made clip on sunglasses. They are expensive and just awful. I spent $ 200 and they will never see the sun :(

This was my first time but won’t be my last purchasing glasses at Sonoma Eyeworks. We were greeted immediately by the friendliest young women K’yala. She was extemely helpful and knowledgable about all of the frames and lenses. I had a general idea of what I wanted but she really helped me pick just the right glasses and sunglasses for me. I have worn glasses for 40 years and primarily saw them as functional. K’yala made me see them as fashion as well. She really took the time and had the eye to help me make the right choices. I have gotten many compliments on my new frames. In the past I only replaced my glasses when absolutely necessary but I look forward to K’yala picking some additional styles for me soon!

My friend and I went to the store, each looking for frames, and I was looking for three new pairs. After a salesperson spent a few minutes showing us five or six frames, she left us and said to look around. This was our first visit to this store and it was a little overwhelming. Good frames and lenses are quite an investment so you want as much help and information as you can get. Sometimes you need a little extra hand-​holding. We could not get her attention again, as she was too busy chatting with her co-​workers. Plenty of help in the store, but none really interested in helping! I’ll take my business elsewhere. Very disappointed!

I’ve always had great service from Sonoma Eyeworks. Their frame selection is decent — and they are super helpful if you need adjustments for your frames.

After visiting two other places, we found Sonoma Eyeworks. We were completely satisfied from beginning to end. Lori greeted us at the door, answered our questions and helped us find exactly what we needed and wanted. Not only was their service exceptional, the choices available and their affordable prices exceeded the other places.

I moved from SF to Santa Rosa a few years ago but my son broke my glasses about 2 weeks ago and I needed glasses ASAP because I am seriously blind without them. I went to the first place on the vsp site for glasses around here, and looked for reviews, and saw that Eyeworks was clean cut with good customer service. I figured with my coverage it probably wouldn’t be that expensive and it looked like they’d have a good selection of frames. As it turns out their customer service is great, they do have a gorgeous frames (that you can’t get at other places around here like Costco or Walmart), but they are pricey. I got my eyes checked at Costco since it’s only $ 54 and then went here for glasses. I got frames that were apparently 50% off at $ 110 and coating, and with coverage it was about $ 300 altogether. I’m lucky they were on sale because I asked and it seems they don’t have many other practical options that are within that price range, and $ 300 was the entire budget I could afford for glasses! Chances are if I had picked any other frames I would’ve ended up walking out and looking elsewhere just because of cost. They are a good place to go, but definitely meet the 3 $$$ signs they have here.

First class service and high quality frames and lenses. They are by far the best in Sonoma County.

Excellent customer service, wide selection of frames, very good lighting in the environment and very important: comfortable chairs. My mom needed new frames and Linda was especially helpful in helping narrow the choices. She even got out the company iPad and took photos so my mom could view herself. I highly recommend this optical store.

I have been a patient here for about 15 years and have had nothing but excellent service and excellent care from Dr. Harmon and Dr. Ricks.

If you want to see better than you have in years, have your eyes examined and your glasses made at Sonoma Eyeworks. Both my wife and I were amazed when we got our new glasses. Neither of us has been able to see as well in years dispite regular eye exams and new glasses whenever our perscription changed. The optomitrist, the quality of the equipment they have in their exam room, and the training and experience of the opticians is first rate. If you don’t like their selection of frames, bring your own, but definately get your exam and lenses made at Sonoma Eyeworks if you want the best possible perscription and lenses.

I read good reviews about Sonoma Eyeworks, and went straight there to look for new frames for the boyfriend, who is very particular and did not think he could ever find anything «up here in the country» that was as classy as what he was used to getting in the City (SF). We walked in and were immediately helped by a lovely woman (I wish I knew her name) who recognized the frames he was wearing and directed him to their ic! berlin collection. She was brilliantly versed in their selections and similar ones from different makers. We literally had him set up with new frames he was thrilled with in less than 15 minutes. Perfect!

My husband has been in contacts for
35 years. He’d been with same doctor from childhood but the contacts were never right nor were the glasses. There’s was always something off about the script and we were told that his eyes were a hard fit and constantly changing. Believing his old doctor of 30 years, he settled for what he thought was the best they could do. They never seemed to focus or they were popping out and we were told that it was the best that could be done and to have lasik surgery.
That’s when we found Dr. Ricks at Sonoma eyeworks we’ve been with Dr. Ricks for two years now and my husband is seeing clearly with out irritation and he no longer has to memorize the eye chartlol

Rude, pushy, and obnoxious. Their ads should read «now you don’t have to drive all the way to San Francisco to meet snotty optical people and spend too much». Avoid them like the plague

Optician Lori Borchers was very helpful in getting me in to see Jeffery Ricks, O.D. for an eye exam and refraction. She also spent time with me to initially look as frames. Dr. Ricks is a true professional who is clearly extremely competent. The high tech equipment augments this very high level of services, e.g., no dilation which is surpassed by a high tech camera. Dr. Ricks is the first eye professional who really both fully comprehended and spent significant time to fully discuss my amblyopia condition which was so helpful. I’m 68 years old so this is really amazing.
But the most surprising experience was orchestrated by Optician Angela Agundez. She spent a great deal of time with me to locate the right frames on one afternoon. My hesitation to place an order was the extreme change on my prescription. Angela said she would make arrangements for me to test the new prescription before ordering two pairs of glasses. She phoned me to see if I could come in the following day to actually experience my new prescription. She and Dr. Harmon configured a pair of glasses that I wore for about a half hour walking around the store. This was something that I had never experienced — and convinced me these people really know what they are doing! I have never experienced better clarity of sight and look forward to receiving my new glasses. Hats off to all — especially Angela who exemplifies ultimate customer service.

I have been going here for years and have never had anything but a FANTASTIC experience. I recently had lasik surgery after talking through all of my fears with Dr. Harmon. Even though I was a loyal client and he would be losing me if I had the surgery, he still took a great deal of time and energy to explain everything to me and tell me I was a perfect candidate. Now that I’ve had it done — and LOVE it — I went back for a pair of sunglasses and will probably not need to go back again — at least not for glasses. I just wanted to review them for others because I honestly feel like they are genuinely interested in making you feel good about yourself and the friendly staff is always so helpful. Yes, the prices are not «cheap» but you do get what you pay for and, after all, this is something you wear every day and your image has everything to do with how you feel about yourself and how you feel about how others see you. So… as far as I’m concerned, it’s well worth it! Stop by and see for yourself — you’ll be glad you did.

I have been going here for years and gone through a few prescriptions, and have been assisted with getting multiple frames, including two pairs of very stylish sunglasses. They not only have the best hand selected eye wear available, but they also have state of the art equipment! The best in the area! incredible staff too. The optician I have worked with most has been a woman named Julie. Wether it was an exam, adjusting my frames or helping choose the most flattering frames for my face I have had nothing but wonderful service and amazing eyewear.

Lots of really beautiful frames to select from including known designer brands and eye wear designer brands. Super friendly staff, and part of the VSP network.
I love this little shop! It is chalk full of beautiful frames and über friendly staff. I always feel like I am greeted by friends when I show up for my appointments or pick up my specs. Everyone is super nice, and genuinely wants to fit you into a gorgeous frame to accent your beautiful face.
My last excursion lasted almost 2 hours, they are also patient — did I mention that? They let you work through your process and if you need to try on every frame they accommodate your whims.
I don’t recommend this little gem if you don’t have insurance, as the designer brands are hard on the pocket book if there is no relief to the bottom line. However, it is worth every penny to look and feel beautiful in your new specs.
I’m personally a fan of Chanel, but they have all kinds of brands I have never heard of that are apparently big in the eyeglass world. They even have an imported company from France with handmade frames where the whole company has an invested say in the product that goes out to the world. They are a little wild for my taste, but for those who are sassy and want something unique this is the spot to hit!

Beautiful store, fantastic customer service, and a really great selection. Yes, it’s a little on the pricey side, but it was definitely worth it to me. I had already been to two different places looking for glasses and I didn’t try anything on that I liked. After finding Sonoma Eyeworks on Unilocal (and I’m pretty influenced by great reviews), I thought I would at least swing by and see what options they have.
First off, I received an explanation right off the bat of what I would find in each section, and then I was offered some delicious coffee on a tray with cream and sugar and everything (good coffee goes a long way with me). There are tons of choices, and they had a lot of the style I was looking for (I like plastic frames). After finding the section with my price range, and then finding the section that has the same brand as my previous glasses, I very quickly narrowed down the frames I liked and picked a pair within 20 minutes. They had these in stock, and they were able to make my glasses within an hour. I also found a pair of sunglasses (my first time ever having prescription sunglasses) that will be ready in a week!
I will definitely be going here in the future. Again, you do pay a little extra here, but you are paying for quality and really great customer service and selection.

Peter helped me pick out a pair of specs. I get compliments on them like crazy. I am an ER nurse my patient is screaming in pain but will stop screaming to compliment me on my glasses. Thank you Peter.
I go in on Monday to get a pair of sunglasses for a trip leaving Friday morning. The glasses need to be done by Thursday and they are! This place is the bomb. I come from a large city — like 6^th largest in the US and this is one of the most advanced eye places I have ever been to. Great customer service, outstanding staff, exceptional care overall. If I ever leave this area I will fly here just to get my specs and eyes checked from Sonoma Eye Works. They have a good selection of trendy modern specs at various price points. Insurance paid for my regular glasses and I had to pay cash for the sunglasses and I was really happy with the price of the sunglasses!
