Very authentic Indian restaurant. Great food and taste exactly like restaurants in India. Very good for vegetarian options

favorite indian food in town. the chef is very personable, coming out to greet each customer when time permits. Yes, it is on the pricer side, totally worth it for taste and quality. weekend belly dancer is sure fun!

Food is ok. Pricy. Room is huge, but depressing. It took us a while to find it, due to the lack of visibility of the sign. It’s a busy street, full of restaurants, though this one was empty. Not a good value for your money.

Torch of India is a nice restaurant for some tasty north Indian food. I came here with a group of eleven and sat upstairs. I found the service to be very friendly, always ready to pour water and being patient while taking our order. The food was fairly good, but was a little on the mild side of flavors. They gave us some rice pudding for a complimentary dessert which I would say was a highlight of the meal, but definitely not for everyone as it contains many spices.

My Husband and I recently went there and tried the paneer tikka Masala, mushroom mutter, and the naan. We can honestly say that the food was excellent. It seemed that the chief was great. One of the best Indian foods I have had. Would definitely recommend this place to others.

In one word, it sucks ! It is a dull boring place 1 on ambience. The glasses were stained and didn’t seem like they were even washed well. The food was subpar. The lassis were not good. Food seemed stale. Definitely not returning here.

Buffet was fantastic! The price is $ 11 per person but considering the food options and unlimited fresh naan, it’s quite a deal! Two of us ate here for $ 22, but had we gotten the same food during dinner, it would have easily cost over $ 60.

I’m going to stop coming here. The papadoms are stale. The chicken used in the buffet is leftover tandoori chicken from the night before. Not cubed Too spicy. Last Saturday we witnessed a cook wiping his face with the same rag he was using for everything else. Time to find a new Indian restaurant.

Delicious curry and«gravy» dishes. + Butter chicken — can you make bad butter chicken? If so, I’ve never had it. + Samosas — one potato with peas, one ground lamb + Garlic naan and basmati rice + Papadum with chutneys — complementary crackers with trio of sauces + /— Tandoori mixed grill — chicken and shrimp highlights, fish and lamb less impressive — Potato and crispy fritters with yogurt sauce(Chef’s Special) — appetizer, this was really odd — all sounds good on paper, but what appeared on the table was far from what I imagined and was not impressive. Tasty indian dishes, hearty servings that allow for leftovers. I recommended sticking with main dishes, naan, and rice, and veering away from the appetizers section for the best meal.

Awesome Indian food. Came here for lunch. Buffet all you can eat is only $ 10. I had some jasmine rice with curry chicken and their delicious salad. Nan bread was made to perfection and I will definitively come back here again! Yum yum!

Who knew the north bay would have such good Indian food. My partner and I came here for lunch to find that they had a buffet. Can’t turn down the variety. The food was really good, especially the chicken curry. Lots of vegan and vegetarian options. The best part about it is the price of $ 9.99 with regular or garlic naan included. I had 2 plates and I was full the rest of the day. I would give it a 5* for the quality, quantity and price of the food. I gave it 4* because the servers looked grumpy when getting our drink orders and not very attentive.

I won’t go to Torch of India again because I don’t care to patronize an establishment where the owner/chef is an unreasonable and unpleasant nut job. Here’s what happened last time I ate there: I asked the server if I could have a small box to pack my leftovers in. She said«no, we don’t give boxes.» I asked why not and offered to pay a little extra for a box. «We don’t give boxes for buffet,» she said, «but I’ll ask the chef.» So I waited patiently and the chef came out… and he proceeded to lecture me(in a none-too-friendly tone) on why boxes are never given at the buffet. He said that I might have had six platefuls already and that he couldn’t trust me to tell the truth when I insisted that I was on my FIRSTPLATE and simply didn’t wish to waste the food. Well, this was absolutely ridiculous. I’m very thin and do not look like I’d be remotely capable of devouring six platefuls. I kept trying to interject my offer to pay extra but he would not hear it until his tirade was over. Finally, he brought me a box at no charge, but with a warning: «This is the only time! Next time there will be no box for you!» As I was packing my food, I heard him berating the server in the background. Regarding the food itself: It was mediocre– not worth a return trip, even if I cared to venture there again. The naan was very good, but nothing else stood out as being in any way exceptional. The curries all tasted the same. One of them was clearly made with frozen veggies. Both the aloo saag and the chana masala were so scaldingly spicy that my taste buds became numb and I could no longer tell what I was eating. Pakoras were gummy, not at all fresh. There was a coconut milk kheer that I looked forward to trying but it was, for lack of a better word, odd– and not in a good way. It tasted chalky and much too sweet. There are two other(better) Indian/Nepalese restaurants within walking vicinity, both of which run a buffet at the same time. I’d recommend them over Torch any day.

Highly overrated. went here for the lunch buffet and was not impressed. I remember going here ages ago and remember liking it so either my taste or the restaurant has changed. All of the curries tasted the exact same. Mushy veggies, no personality curries served on top of crunchy, lumpy rice. The chai was the worst I’ve ever had. I could only gulp down 5 sips of this black licorice, chemical tasting chai. The garlic naan was okay, aside from the tasteless garlic from a jar. The pakoras had nice seasoning but the potatoes were not cooked thoroughly and had the texture of apples. I did really like the rice pudding though. It had a very strong, refreshing cardamom flavor. The service was hit or miss. Some of the servers were sweet and attentive, while others were snappy and unfriendly. There are two other better Indian restaurants within under 5 mins walking from this place that I would definitely recommend over this one. Ganesha is hands down the best, but if you’re set on buffet I would go for House of Curry and Grill.

I haven’t tried too many Indian restaurants in the area, but this is the first one that I’ve tried and I have fell in love with this place. When I come here(which is quite often) I always order the chicken tikka masala with the garlic naan. The tikka is so tender and flavorful unlike the other places that I have been to. I must go here too much because the waitstaff know me by name, and have even memorized my order which is awesome because I don’t usually have to wait for my food to arrive. The garlic naan is also pretty dang tasty. I believe that they have a belly dancer that comes in on Fridays which can be somewhat distracting if your a guy :) definitely give this place a try, somewhat pricy though;‘with a order of masala, naan, and a soda the bill usually is around 24 dollars or so

Note: This review is for the restaurant in Santa Rosa — on 4th st.(not the Vacaville location). I love this Indian restaurant! The prices are VERY reasonable — about $ 9 for lunch and about $ 15 — 18 for dinner, depending on what you order. I love to go to their lunch buffet as they usually have 3 vegetarian dishes, 2 salads, 3 chicken dishes(Usually, Goan Curry with coconut, Masala chicken, and Tandoori chicken.), steamed, basmati rice, appetizers, 2 kinds of dessert(Rice pudding is always available), and of course, they bring fresh, garlic nan to your table. All this for $ 9??? I think that’s a pretty good deal. If you like Indian food, this is your best bet for the money and quality of food — at least in the Santa Rosa area. I recommend you try their lunch buffet and if you like it, then you can go back and try entrees from their dinner menu. PS: The servers are neither friendly or rude, they just do what they need to. Also, they have TV’s around the restaurant that play Bollywood movies and music. Fun to watch.

The food was good, dinner prices were OK. My sis and i shared naan, veggie samosas, Goan veggies and chicken Korma, and the bill was around $ 38 before tip. Service was great, staff was super friendly. Atmosphere was fine… quiet and full of earnest white people having hushed, earnest conversations. Clean, neat, nothing remarkable décor-wise. A chubby white alterna-babe came out and bellydanced unobtrusively during the meal. Parking is free at the mall down the street(if you keep it under 90 minutes). A short walk, no hassle. Not much to say… it was fine. But I will probably try a different place next time I want Indian food in the area. The food nor the atmo was remarkable enough to warrant my coming back.

I came here with my friend and this place was great! That was why I’m making this my 1000th review out of all the places I tried on my recent business trip. Parking in the area was limited and we drove around to find some street parking. We came from the back of the restaurant from the parking lot behind the building. There were a couple of groups eating when we came around 7:20pm. We saw one of our coworkers there and he was finishing up his meal but joined us at our table. The menu had a wide variety of choices and I was trying to decide what to order. I decided on the Chicken Tikkamasala — Chef’s Special($ 13.99) and Garlic Naan($ 2.75). The waitress asked how spicy(mild, medium, or hot) and I chose medium because I wanted a little more spice in my meal. My friend ordered the Classic Curry Chicken($ 13.99) and also medium spicy level. We waited a few minutes before the Garlic Naan and the other dishes came out. The Garlic Naan was delicious and complemented the Chicken Tikkamasala. The amount of rice was enough for one person and the Chicken Tikkamasala was tasty. For medium spicy level, it was not too spicy for me. My friend’s Classic Curry Chicken was good as well as about the same spiciness. My friend didn’t eat a lot of spicy foods so the medium spicy level was hot for him. I liked the Chicken Tikkamasala better than the Classic Curry Chicken but you can’t go wrong with either one. As for the spicy levels, I would say if you like spicy food then medium would be good. If you don’t like spicy food then maybe mild would be good. After I finished our food, I showed one of the waitresses the free dessert that I got when I checked in here on the Unilocal app. I chose the Mango Ice Cream and they brought that out fairly quickly. I thought the Mango Ice Cream was okay because there was other stuff in it that reminded me of jelly or something. It was only a scoop so it was fine. Torch of India was a great Indian restaurant and would recommend it if you’re in the area for some Indian food. Awesome!

Excellent lunch buffet. Serve yourself, all you can eat. Mostly vegetarian /vegan. A few chicken dishes like curry and tandoori. Medium spice level and no oily tastes and textures. Naan bread is poofy, light as a pillow and flavorful. Best $ 9 lunch I’ve had in a long time.
