There is so much going on behind the scenes here that the average Joe could easily not grasp the entire concept and thus get hung up on something like«I didn’t like the bar area.». First off, it isn’t a bar, it’s a tasting room. Secondly, when I find out that some of the spirits were distilled from beers and ales I could honestly give a flying f@%k what the bar looks like. This is some fascinating science going on here, let me tell you. The mastermind behind this whole gig is a guy named Jake. Jake is an East county local with a love for good drinks and a taste for adventure. When he’s not jumping off cliffs or bombing down some beach in Baja, he is busy tinkering around trying to find the bigger better deal(BBD). This inquisitive nature eventually led to distilling alcohol, naturally. I’m really not at liberty to divulge too much information but basically he may or may not have made a few home stills and started making his own whiskey. Hey, that s#%t is expensive, who can blame the guy?! Next thing you know he is messing around with some flat beer. Maybe after some crazy Labor day weekend there were some kegs that didn’t quite get finished. Maybe, just maybe, Jake decided to empty those kegs into containers. Hmmm, there is a lot of alcohol in that beer and hey, there’s that still I was goofing around with. Next thing you know the beer whiskey is drip drip dripping away. The rest, as they say, is history. Nowadays Jake is using more conventional ingredients like corn to make his Twisted Moonshine. The ‘shine is smooth as the day is long. There are several different spirits to taste, and if you want to know what they are then you’re gonna have to go down and find out for yourself. I promise you won’t be disappointed.

I was next door at the brewery tasting room and decided to stop by and try some of the harder stuff. The tasting room is quite small. They offer about 6 – 7 different spirits. The moonshine shot that I had was quite decent.
