Village Bikes

I love Village Bikes in Sarasota! 5-​star review after 5-​star review are so obviously well deserved. I don’t wish to impugn either of the three negative reviewers because everybody is entitled to their own opinions. Nevertheless, the experience my wife and I had today was terrific.
We originally went in just to get her a helmet, but the 27-​gear Specialized hybrid with Carbon Forks was irresistible, and she is now the proud owner of it. Ryan took time to investigate her planned biking expeditions and previous riding experience, the result of which is she now owns a bike she adores.
As a long-​time NYC bicycle commuter and proud member of Transportation Alternatives I was especially pleased with his recommendation of high-​lumens front and rear lights.
But wait, there’s more. The first year of tune-​ups is included in the purchase of the bike.
The vibe in the store is great. The selection is exceptionally broad. The helmet choices are top of the line. And Ryan is a genuinely knowledgable and good guy.
I don’t now how anyone could give this place even a slightly negative review.

I gave them one star only because they were able to fill up my tires. Service was absolutely terrible they said my bike was fine it took me a week to go get it I can tell they left it outside the paperwork was all wet my bike even had rust on it. On top of it all they were rude about it and very pompous and up-​noxious there’s a place right next-​door called Sarasota cycle that hands-​down is 100 times better than village bikes

Best place in town to buy bikes and bike related! Just purchased a strider for my 2 year old. Now the whole family has bikes from here. Me, my husband, 12 yo and 2 yo. we are all set for now, but see many more future purchases! First purchase was in aril 2014, and I won’t go anywhere else! The price was even very comparable to my amazon prime!

I buy a lot online. And certainly bike accessories and clothing are readily available online. But in the past month, I have been to Village Bikes twice and been helped by Jody, who’s friendly, knowledgeable and realizes I’m not a serious biker. She gave me good advice and recommendations and, when presented with a technical question about my wailing brakes and how to fix them, she connected me with a more technical staffer.
She explained the options on bike shorts and pointed out the pluses and minuses of each for someone like me without making me feel like the amateur I am. In 30 minutes of research online, I might have found many of the same answers, but I no doubt would have had remaining questions. And I would have missed Jody’s friendly smile.
If you need help and have a preference for friendly humans, I recommend shopping at Village Bikes on Osprey.

My dad and I are relatively new to the cycle world and we felt right at home at Village Bikes. Shuan, our salesman, worked patiently with us even after we didn’t buy our first time in. Upon returning, he remembered us and my dad’s unique situation and provided us his expertise again, which led to us buying a beautiful FS Specialized. I look forward to doing business with them for a long time to come.

The service team at Village Bikes is exceptional. I took my bike in just to have the lock cut off (forgot the combination). They cut it off in a jiffy and said there would be no charge. I wanted to pay them something for their trouble, so we agreed on a fair price and I bought a new lock. We will buy our next bike at Village Bikes. I like to support businesses that understand that great service today means more business tomorrow!

I’m not sure what happened to the previous reviewer but my two experience at Village Bikes have been have been just the opposite. The first time my wife and I went there to get a basket for her bike. We had a cappuccino while we were deciding… a nice touch. Once we chose a basket the sales person took us right to the service department where they stopped what they were doing and installed it. They also watched my wife ride and adjusted her seat and her front brakes… all for the cost of the basket.
The next time I went there I had a clicking from one of my peddles. The service guy again stopped what he was doing, jumped on my bike and rode around the parking lot behind the store. He got a new sets of peddles which he said had been left behind by a new bike buyer who had his own peddles. Installed them, adjusted my front brake and my seat height. When he was done he said «no charge»… Huh? That just doesn’t happen anymore but it does at Village Bikes! Wonderful place with nice knowledgable people who are into biking and deliver exceptional customer service. Oh… did I mention that my bike was a Schwinn that I bought at Target? They didn’t care. You can bet my next bike will come from Village Bikes! A wonderful experience!

DO NOT GO THERE!!!
I went in to purchase a bicycle today. When I walk in no came up to help me, they were too busy eating at the counter… Seriously!?! AT LEAST say HELLO!
Then an older man approached me. I asked him for info on a cycle cross and was NO HELP. He was VERY rude, and when I asked him for info about cycle cross he said its no longer season for that and basically told me to take a hike. I have to leave for a last minute entry into a race in Michigan. Which I’m driving this weekend too. My advice, never judge someone by there looks. I had $ 4,000 to invest on a bicycle yes INVEST and I went next door and purchase a $ 3,700.00 TREK bicycle instead of a Cannondale I wanted.
YOU NEED TO TAKE A CLASS ON CUSTOMER SERVICE. I will never go there and will let my follow Physicians and Professionals I know and work with in the Sarasota area about the HORRIBLE experience I had at Village Bikes in Sarasota FL. Can’t believe you are in business with that kind of attitude…

Jody and Tony were outstanding in being patient (two hours just discussing my bike style and possible choices) and very knowledgeable eventually suggesting I consider a bike which would keep me more upright and was half the price of what I was willing to spend. I ordered the bike and picked it up being charged $ 30 less than the price when I committed to the bike plus 10% off on accessories. They were kind throughout the transaction. I love my new Cannondale bike.
