Just went two days ago. We’re from out of town… and really wanted shrimp and grits. When we got there the kitchen had just closed. We asked where could we get food(what was still open that had good food). They said. … what are you looking for? We said shrimp and grits. They said… well we have the best… hold on. 2 mins later our waitress(Gege) returned and said we don’t want you to miss the best shrimp and grits in town. We are going to open the kitchen back up and make you guys a plate. AMAZING!!! The grits were made into a cake… topped with the shrimp and a delicious crème sauce. Absolutely the best I’ve ever eaten. The fried green tomatoes were also delicious. Thank you Gege, Trell & Tyler(chefs) for an amazing unexpected delicious meal.

All of our food was delicious… Jaylin, our waiter, was extremely friendly and helpful :) I am not a fish person, so I had the burger which was juicy and yummy. My boyfriend had the mussels in wine sauce, and he said they were delicious. My son had the seared tuna, and he said it was very good. Very old, so not«posh», which worked out cuz neither are we! ;-)

My mother and I ate at Dockside, and I got a foodborne illness from what I ate. I ordered a fried oyster sandwich with savannah red rice. 30 minutes after leaving the restaurant I felt queasy. An hour after eating at the restaurant I began to throw up. I threw up for nearly 3 hours and was curled on the floor of the outdoor park on River Street. I understand that mistakes happen, but this was unacceptable and ruined our day in Savannah. To add insult to injury, when my mother called to report the issue to the restaurant, the owner refused to take ownership of the problem and denied that it happened from her food. I reported the incident to the GA Dept of Health on 6÷17÷16.

Overpriced mediocre food. Only plus side of the place was that the building was built in 1792 and has a lot of history. Nice view overlooking the river.

Nice location overlooking the river. Has outdoor seating, but often taken. Our wait for a table of 8 was approx. 35 minutes and we were seated shortly after. I ordered the turkey melt, which was essentially a panini… The bread was buttered and grilled much like a grilled cheese. Sandwich was served with side pickle and fries. Our food took over an hour after order was placed… Restaurant was busy, but certainly no excuse for the long wait. Our drinks(beer & wine mostly) took a while to make it over to the table as well. Our server was very nice, however… He spilt the checks before hand to avoid confusion at the end. Menu options are decently priced, as you would expect from this casual restaurant. Décor is basic with exposed wood rafters in the ceiling. I’m sure there are better restaurants in the area, but this one had the shortest wait.

Not what I was expecting in Savannah. I ordered a shrimp basket with steamed shrimp. Fifteen minutes went by before we were served. Our waitress did not know the menu. The hostess was eating at her post. Observed trash being taken out of the front door Hostess had a chronic cough. The food was… meh. Neither really bad or good. My shrimp was good. The red rice had too much tomato sauce. The coke slaw and hush puppies were ok. I watched a cook follow customers on their way out the door to ask them why they did not like a meal. Very awkward to see. This could really be a great restaurant if properly operated. For now, I will not be returning to Dockside when I visit Savannah.

Fantastic! Glad that I didn’t put too much weight on the reviews. By far the best blackened chicken I have ever eaten. My husband got chicken strips and fries and said they were great. Prices were good. Service was fast and friendly.

Our group stopped in for brunch and we ordered 5 bloodys and a screwdriver. Not one of them was good. One of the girls in our group took hers up to the bar and politely asked for a new one to which the bartender rudely chirped back he did NOT under pour our drinks. Needless to say we had our waitress take away our drinks, still full, and we ordered a round of beers. We told her they were no good, but she didn’t seem to give a shit. No apologies, no replacement drinks. Of course she still charged us for all of them. We won’t be back. Plenty of better options nearby.

Newly renovated with new owners, the food was great, we had local shrimp from Tybee Island. The staff was pleasant and attentive. The dining area was open and tastefully set up with a classic design in a historic building. For a nice restaurant in the historic area of downtown with primary tourists the food was not over priced. Definitely a place to check out.

The seafood was pretty good. My husband was not impressed with the seafood broil but the fried shrimp and crab cakes were seasoned well. Service was fast. This does not have anything to do with the food but they could use a dress code for the hostess. Somewhat overpriced for the quality but I assume it’s the location. It was ok but nothing too exciting.

Very rude service! After driving for 10 hours we asked to sit outside. Our server was not very excited about that. We had to remind her numerous times about our drinks, and only received one refill. Would not go back.

Service was extremely slow! Chowder was cold when finally brought out. The fried pickles are soggy and greasy, 1 pound of crawfish was more like ½ a pound. Waitress spilt my water all over my lap and soaked me and the entire area under me and didn’t apologize for it. Worst meal ever.

Service was good — got a few appetizers to share. Hush puppies were slightly overdone but the butter with it almost made up for it. Ahi tuna was pretty good. Shrimp and grits was outstanding!!! Would definitely try again for a full meal.

This place was awesome! The crab chowder was amazing! The young lady that took care of us, Anna, was wonderful. Sweetie and Sugar was how she greeted us which is part of the Southern hospitality lingo. Loved the Savannah salad topped with a blackened Salmon and the house salad dressing. It was healthy and left my wife and I more than gastronomically satisfied. Great restaurant and great pricing! The place is not fancy, but is a seafood restaurant by the sea supposed to be fancy? Reminds me of FL, Key West seafood restaurants. We’ll definitely be coming back next year. Maybe we’ll be investing on some property and we’ll be here all year around. Who knows. : —)

Average at best. Staff was friendly but the good left much to be desired. The menu seemed a bit scattered to begin with Italian chicken, German potato salad, fried seafood, and other bar food staples such as fried cheese. We ordered a crab cake appetizer that came out not cooked all the way through but beyond greasy. I ordered the southern pecan chicken salad sandwich which was pretty flavorless and had such huge chunks of chicken it was difficult to eat. We opted to pass on dessert. I would suggest there are much better places to eat in Savannah.

Well tried this even after seeing the not stellar reviews on Unilocal! Found the hostess to be great! Friendly, interacted with diners and very funny. Wait staff just so-so. Food prices high for quality. Just average seafood. Wife had shrimp and grits and found it under seasoned. The steamed shellfish platter was ok but lacking seasoning. Corn was overcooked. Shrimp, oysters, mussels kinda blah. The snow crab was tasty but the crawfish were flavorless. Expected so much better. It was edible but lacked seasoning. Not sure we would try again but it was nice sitting outside and watching the street performers.

My sister and her friend picked this placed because they needed a restaurant with outdoor seating because they had a dog with them. Unfortunately, the outdoor seating was the only thing going for this place. My sister and I ordered the teriyaki shrimp with mixed vegetables and loaded mashed potatoes. The teriyaki shrimp was not impressive and something I could have made by opening up a can of store bought teriyaki sauce. The mixed veggies looked and tasted like the frozen mixed vegetables you buy at the supermarket. They were EXTREMELY salty and swimming in a pool of butter. Probably the saltiest food i have ever tasted. And yes, I’m including movie theater popcorn after i add salt and butter to it. I could not eat the vegetables. The mashed potatoes tasted like box mashed potatoes doctored up with shredded cheese and bacon bits. And this meal for 8 shrimp frozen veggies and boxed potatoes cost me a total of 20 dollars. I could have made this meal at home much better and it would have cost around 5 to 10 dollars to make. Our friend ordered the Chicken Caesar salad and her chicken was cold, and there was a brown long hair in her food.(she has blond hair). The water offered to re cook the salad but the whole experience was unimpressive. I work as a waitress, and hear guest complain all the time. I hate being one of those people, but I feel like this review is justified. Our food was horrible and over priced. I can’t see how this place stays in business.

Of all the options for dining in Savannah this one is basic but solid. Nothing fancy just good olé seafood. I like to get a drink, the low country boil and sit on the patio by the river. Could have another half a star for being one of the oldest buildings in town, and its made from old ballast stones… gotta love the history man!

We stopped for a snack/appetizer. We got the three cheese spinach dip. It was probably the worst we have ever had.. The cheese was watery and the spinach looked like seaweed. We sat outside on River street and it smelled like trash. We had good beer-bottled Yuengling and the server was super friendly.

Meh, you say? Oh yeah, I reply. This place is a big meh. First of all, we all know that one should never, ever, ever eat in a touristy place if you want good food. These places are obvious because of location and the plethora of people walking around who obviously aren’t from around here. Dockside sits along the road that follows the river’s edge. Not one person looked local, including me. Next, try to avoid places with overly thematic décor. At Dockside, it is dressed up(or dressed down) to look like an old watering hole where a pirate might feel at home. Service was okay. I could ignore the thematic ambiance. The management should know, however, that the food was sub par. Even our little food critic in training didn’t like it. We ordered two fried fish platters, both with fries. She got the fried scallops which were okay. I got the fried haddock. It was not okay. The breading was stale and tasted slightly moldy, probably due to how the flour was stored. The fries were soggy. I ate a few bites and left the rest for the waitress to return to the kitchen. If you really want to save a buck and eat on the touristy river front, this place may suit your needs. However, stick with something that other reviewers liked. Meh.

My family and I(7 in total) decided to try this place since it was one of the few places with no wait on a Friday night. The décor is reminiscent of a ship with wood tables and chains. They have booths and longer tables to accommodate larger parties. They also have a patio with several tables overlooking the river. The menu was fairly typical of river street but they were able to grill or steam any fish upon request. They are also very accommodating to those with allergies and our waitress was able to communicate the precautions they take to avoid cross-contamination etc. Both me, my mother and my sister have various food issues and none of us had any issues after eating there. We split steamed crab legs and shrimp which were delicious. The other members of our party also enjoyed their food. The blackened fish Caesar salad and the crab cake sandwich were both big hits. I also must say that the entire restaurant was spotless and the staff was very friendly and provided quick service. The food is certainly nothing extraordinary but if you are looking for reasonably priced seafood on the river, you can’t go wrong here.
