Great breakfast place, so glad a friend recommended it since St. Clair closed down. The entire staff is very friendly and the prices are definitely reasonable. The portions are nice size and everything we have tried so far has been great, this is my new go to spot at Pickwick for breakfast, love it.

Visited this place today and it was filthy and all of the tables were full. It took forever to get my burger which was under-cooked. Then to my surprise I found out that the owner takes his employees tips and gives them to the«ministry» which I am pretty sure is illegal! Will never eat here again. I will not support crooks!

I had my first experience this weekend at The Outpost(breakfast meal). Not only is the food tasty, but the owner provides a workplace that has Christian principles to some people that have strayed from the right path of life. And the tips that you pay go toward his ministry. I became a fan for a myriad of reasons. Try them out; you’ll like ‘em.

Omg! This place is A-Maaaaazing! We’ve eaten here twice and have been blown away by the food both times – everyone in our party. First time I had a bologna sandwich. It was the best bologna sandwich I’ve ever had outside of my own kitchen. This isn’t Oscar Meyer bologna. My nephew had the burger and loved it. My husband had the BBQ sandwich. Smoky deliciousness with just the right amount of sauce. They offer hot and regular BBQ sauce; he had the hot. Home fries are discs of potatoey goodness. Best sweet tea around. On our second visit I ordered the baby back ribs plate. I cannot say enough about the delectableness of this dish. Pork and beans were like none other and they sure as heck didn’t come out of a can. My slaw had bits of pickle in it and was lightly seasoned with a hint of dill. It had a slight tang to its sweetness– not overpowering. Just damn good. Got a hunk of toast that was homemade with a dollop of butter. Husband had the yard bird which was a fried chicken chicken sandwich made with more homemade bread, their delicious spicy white sauce, lettuce and maters. He said it was the best chicken sandwich he has ever had(and he is a picky eater and hater of all things processed). We also shared a bowl of banana pudding. Wowowowow!!! Oh yes, there was the pudding and the Nilla wafers at the bottom. It was topped with meringue! The pudding was sweet but not too sweet. The earthy sweet fruitiness of the bananas complemented the meringue nicely. Do not hesitate to try this delicious food. It’s run by good Christian folks who care about people and high quality eats!

Great little place. We had the reuben sandwich and BBQ sandwich. The home fries were yummy too. It was a very friendly place too. I’d love to take the guys back in better weather as there appeared to be lots of fun things to do on the grounds. Just a great place all around. Oh, banana pudding! Yummy!

Both convenient and delicious! The Outpost has consistently produced good food, from breakfast to dinner, but the friendly service and atmosphere are what truly make this place so enjoyable to visit. Personal favorite menu items include the smoked chicken and the variety of burgers. The country store attached to the restaurant also has plenty of baked and canned items to choose from. Highly recommended, especially on a visit into Pickwick!

It is unbelievable to have so many things going on at one location. Butcher shop, home-made ice cream, fishing supplies, food cooked-to-order, colorful Banty rooster prancing around, friendly Tabby kitten, hand-made furniture from wood, seasonal fruit and vegetable stand, dining view overlooking woods and outdoor seating. I came here specifically for the cornbread salad. I had to know if it could take the place of Borroum’s, as my favorite. It could not. It costs $ 2.00 more and there is a lot less of it. The presentation is unique as it is served in a tiny iron skillet. They should save that bit of novelty for serving just the cornbread. You have to hope the tables are clean and sanitary as that is where you actually eat the cornbread salad from. That small skillet gives no room for mixing, tossing or general foraging in the dish. Something was constantly plopping out of the skillet onto the table. Overall, the taste is there, but not as appealing as Borroum’s. I had an issue with the table and stools. They are hand made, but they are only practical and comfortable for children. I consider myself an average size adult and the stool is not wide enough with no foot support. You have dangling feet adding pressure to the hip and thighs, which just equals pain and discomfort. There were picnic tables and lower benches inside, but they were taken. The ones outside were in the sun on a 90+ degree day… in the South… no thank you. To Each Their Own. I plan a return visit to try a burger and ice cream. I know to avoid the stools. Maybe, it will be fall and I will sit outside. The kitten can keep me company.

Loved this place! The atmosphere is laid back and has a homey feel. I ordered hamburger steak w/gravy and homefries which are the bomb! Also you have to order the Colby pie! Best pie ever! Homemade ice cream! The peach was great. I will be back again when I’m in the area. The staff were so welcoming and the visit isn’t complete without seeing the resident rooster«Foghorn Leghorn«. Also have a gift shop w/a wide variety of homemade goodies, and homemade chainsaw carvings! Fresh tomatoes also! WOW!
