OHSU Family Medicine at Scappoose

Where do I start???
1. Just to make an appt. for an annual exam is 3 – 4 months out.
2. If you suffer from bronchitis don’t ask them to subscribe a cough suppressant so you can get some sleep after you’ve been coughing all night for 2 days because they are afraid to give you something that you may get addicted to? I have no history of drug addiction! They suggested an over medication that they feel is just as good with out the addictive quality. It did not work. I finally went to urgent care and was prescribed the addictive stuff (yay!) guess what, that has been over a year and I’m still not an addict!
3. My husband may be suffering from a sinus infection and we’ve tried to make an appt. for 2 weeks and they are booked 3 – 4 weeks out for more urgent cases. Really?
4. Dr. Rugge has the most horrible beside manner. Rude, doesn’t listen to what you’re concerns are. Begrudgingly will refer you to a specialist when Dr. Rugge is clearly not one. And he and his staff are so over booked that even though you arrive on time for your appt.(don’t be 15 minutes late or they will consider you a no-​show and bill you for the appt. and cancel yours), you will usually wait at least 30 minutes until you’re shown to a room, then wait another 20 – 30 minutes.
5. Review your bill closely as they often duplicate charges.

The receptionist have always been pleasant. The facility is clean. Ease of getting in for same day appointment varies, but when I’ve been really sick they have been able to quickly get me in. They have several wonderful doctors at OHSU Scappoose. Dr Emma Brooks is incredible, as well as Holly Balsbaugh and Dr Heather Davidson.

This is the WORST medical clinic that I’ve EVER been to!!! Unfortunately they are the only clinic in Scappoose, therefore they know they can treat their patients like third world cattle.
They have screwed up appointments numerous times costing us time and money.
I’ve left several message for the doctor or nurse to call me back, never happens! Referral’s? haha ha ha umm NO!
Their billing dept is horrible, they seem to lose almost every payment I make to them. Make sure to get a receipt for your copay because they seem to lose them frequently. They also demand payment upfront for certain services that would normally be billed to the insurance company first.
Just brought our 9yr old boy in for severe ear ache (the crying all night kind) Doctor proceeded to argue with us about our occasional outdoor only smoking having something to do with the ear ache. WTF? After that he proceeded to tell us that children his age and older rarely get ear infections and that it must be some sinus thing. again WTF? Dr. Rugge is useless. That was not the first time we’ve received shotty care from this clinic, unless you are practically dead they wont prescribe antibiotics. extreme pain? ahhh get over it. This is the feeling you get from this place. Go to Portland if you need care, because this place sure doesn’t «care»
