I have yet to have a haircut here but I do go to have my eybrows waxed. This is the only place I go since nail shops tend to aim for thin eyebrows. It’s very reasonable, $ 8.

I came here because it is right behind my apartment. Yes they are cheap, for a guys hair cut on a Tues and Thurs which keeps me coming back. However I feel a lot of them the ladies are distracted or not sure what to do, which makes me nervous. Not that I care that much about my hair or its that complicated. I have been here a few times now and my hair cuts just come out ok. But if I can find a place that cuts hair better and even pay a few more bucks, I might have to leave them.

Instead of cutting my own hair, like I’ve been doing the past year & a half, I decided it’s time to stimulate the economy(oh here we go again) & start paying for my haircuts. Thus, I revisited Waves, my alternate haircut place of choice for the past 4 or some odd years. I’ve always gripped about getting my haircut by women since they always want to wash your hair & whatnot before cutting it. I don’t like this. I can wash my own hair at home. Besides, if my hair is dirty & smells of weed smoke and King Cobra, too bad! Just kidding. But in seriousness, I just want a haircut & a haircut only when I see the barber. While Waves does ask if you want your hair washed, you’re allowed to say«no thanks.» And as far as haircuts go, these ladies do a nice job, &FAST. Especially compared to the old man barbershop I normally would get my ears lowered in Melrose Park. There’s usually about 3 – 5 ladies working at Waves, so I never have to wait long, which is a big plus in my world. Their prices are very reasonable too. Where I used to pay $ 16 for a fade(it’s probably gone up since, but I’m not sure), it’s $ 15 at Waves. But on Tuesdays & Thursdays, it’s only $ 13 for mens haircuts. After 4 years, I’ve never seen their prices go up at all. What can they approve upon? Well they can start accepting credit cards. Though that’s not really a big deal to me, ’cause I’m used to paying cash all these years at barbers. But for the ladies who get their hair done here, it’s common to wrack up a large bill, so they should consider taking credit/debit sometime soon. Also, one of the only things I miss about the old man barber is the shave.(Yeah I know I said I only want a haircut, but oh well). I miss the old fashion warm shaving cream & straight razor shaves. But I’m willing to sacrifice that for a better price.
