My husband and I have been here twice now and consistently good food, great service, and very clean inside. Nice relaxing lighting and music.

Party of 7 adults for dinner. Appetizer fries were soggy and not flavored, not even salted! I was shocked. Waiter did not replenish our waters on time, and when she did, she did not remove the original glass. The tables were small and I felt cramped the entire night. Those were not frizzled onions by any stretch of the imagination.

2.5 stars to 3. First and last time coming to a popular restaurant. Interior — average, Service was decent. Salad bar — above average. Food was not that great. I had better. Maybe it was what I ordered.

My wife and I went there for dinner with our 3 teenage grandchildren last night and we all go frequently. The food as usual was very good, love the garlic crusted prime-rib and the kids enjoy the steaks and chicken. My wife felt the crab-cakes were significantly smaller than previous visits. My main complaint was apparently out waiter couldn’t be bothered with us after taking our order and you know it’s bad when a 14 year old says«Our waiter is really inattentive«One soda glass sat empty throughout the meal because he never bothered to revisit the table. Just want to emphasize Food Great, Waiter Awful. Went back tonight with our same 3 teenage grandchildren and I have to say our evening was much better than our last visit. Our waiter Mike L. was absolutely fantastic and quite frankly I really hope we get him whenever we go again. He was friendly, engaging, incredibly attentive and just excellent all the way around. The food as usual was great and we love taking our grandchildren there for dinner.

Very family friendly!!! Food is tasty. The spinach & artichoke dip… OMG One of this foodies favs. The servers are pleasant and food delivery is quick unless you’re there with a large party that ordered right before you. But they definitely make sure you’re ok during the wait. And the salad bar has everything you’re looking for in a good build your own salad.

This is my first time at this Charlie Browns. I’ve been to others but this is my favorite. The food was fabulous! I had a steak. The sirloin. My sister had the chicken and waffles. My other sister had the buffalo wings. Everything was cooked perfectly. And to top it off our waiter was amazing. Jason. He was the sweetest. Very professional and made us laugh. Best waiter I’ve had in a really long time. I would definitely be returning back here.

We came to the area for training from North Carolina. I found the restaurant on Unilocal. The staff was incredible, Anthony was our server and he was very attentive. I loved the self serve salad bar. I had the 14 Oz ribeye which was cooked to perfection. Overall it was a great experience.

This restaurant does a great job overall. We came on a Saturday at 6pm and were seated immediately. The kids enjoyed their grilled chicken and Mac and cheese as well as the salad bar and my wife enjoyed her burger. I loved the prime rib and the kids are about 1⁄3 of it! Service was very attentive. The place was busy but the salad bar was well stocked and clean. TV’s were showing 3 – 4 different games. Great value for a family! No complaints!

Whenever I go to a place that has«steakhouse» or «seafood» in their name, the expectations are SUPER high for them to nail their so-called specialty. You better have the best damn steak in a 15-mile radius, or you won’t be around long for your trickery… I’m aware that this is more commercialized than a smaller steakhouse, but the meats here were just par. I went with the 14oz Ribeye, and my buddy went with the Filet. They were decently cooked, but the dish itself was uninspired and plain Jane. There needs to be a standard when attempting to serve a beautiful piece of meat, and that does not entail searing it and just tossing it on a white plate! The service was friendly and the atmosphere of the restaurant is inviting, but I’d rather a hole in the wall with the best meats around. Can’t say much about the other menu items, but if you want a good steak either cook it yourself or head elsewhere.

I hadn’t been here since the late 1990s. The place has been nicely updated since. There is plenty of parking on both sides of the place. Tuesday’s they have $ 5 margarita specials, and for 2 $ more you get patron instead of the house tequila. If you sit at the bar they give you freshly made popcorn to munch on. On a Tuesday night there was a decent crowd. On the bar side, they have 9 tvs around the room so its a great place to watch sports. I tried the firecracker shrimp, which were ok. Bonefish grill has bang bang shrimp which I feel are better. I also had the quesadilla, which was also ok, but not great. The person behind the bar was outstanding and provided excellent service. All in all its a decent place, and I will probably be back at least to watch sports.

Would be 3.5 stars for this revamp. I had a really hard time choosing a new overall rating. The service that we had from our waitress was overwhelmingly abysmal(1 star), but the resolution that was provided from the manager later on was superior(5 stars). If it hadn’t been for the manager’s resolution, I would have rated this 1 star. I decided to go for a 3. We came in on a Saturday night and was seated promptly. After a few minutes, our waitress came by and took our drink, appetizer, and meal orders. Following that, we proceeded to the Salad Bar. Details on the salad bar will be explained later. After finishing up, we noticed that our appetizers haven’t shown up after a long period of time. Our waitress came by to take our dirty salad plates away, and told us that they should be out any minute without an apology after inquiring. But after another 10 minutes passed, nothing has happened and our waitress was nowhere in sight. We also noticed that the patrons at a table across from us was seated later, and they got their food delivered, but not us. We asked for extra napkins during our dining experience and that never came(when we told her later on, she just said«oh» and nothing else happened). Our waitress never checked to see if all was okay. Also, when we asked for two carry out boxes(after dinner), she gave us just one and callously walked away. We had to ask another waitress(a nice one) for the other box and that was delivered without an issue. Also, our waitress didn’t know anything about the redemption of Unilocal Check-In offers. Is it really that hard? We flagged down the manager to explain about our discontent with the service, and a major resolution immediately followed. After talking to the manager, she immediately felt apologetic, said that this will be addressed with her, honored my Unilocal check-in offer for the Firecracker Shrimp, and comped us for our other order of the Pepper Jack Cheese Bites. As she spoke to us, our entrees came out by other servers. She then asked us if we wanted our appetizers to go, and we said yes. Oddly enough, even though the other servers didn’t know that, our appetizers came out as we ate. LOL. Those should have came BEFORE dinner, NOT during or after! We told those servers that we wanted these to go, via the manager. They obliged and apologized. In addition, she also gave us two free desserts to go as well. We opted for the slices of chocolate mousse cake and key lime pie. We felt very happy with the resolution. Now all of that’s out of the way, how about the food? «Salad Bar Stays Strong!» — Oh yeah, the circular salad bar still contained a vast assortment of vegetables, and various topping and dressings. They also had slices of bread available too. I got lettuce, tomatoes, shredded cheese, carrots, cucumbers, cranberries, and croutons. Just like last time, everything tasted fresh. My filet mignon came with French fried onions and mashed potatoes. Even though the meat was juicy, there was no flavor at all. My parents’ entrees were just okay, with nothing more to say. The Pepper Jack Cheese Bites that we had at home was crispy & cheesy with a SPICY aftertaste. I guess tortilla chips were included to alleviate the burning sensation, but even without it, this appetizer was EXTREMELY enjoyable. We didn’t get the chance to try the firecracker shrimp at home yet, but later on, we will. We had the chocolate mousse cake, and we thought that it was too sweet with very little flavor. However, the Key Lime Pie was rich with flavor. I highly recommend the Key Lime Pie to anyone who likes the combination of sweet and tart. We’ve experienced better service at other chain restaurants across the area. We wondered if our waitress was having a bad day or didn’t know how to do her job properly. But we were very pleased with the manager who went«out of her way» to make us feel comfortable. Due to the close proximity of my home and the manager’s resolution, we will consider giving one more chance in the future. But we don’t know when since we have prioritized other chain(& non-chain) restaurants in our minds for future patronage.

The place is normally slammed so we avoid it. We came in a little later on a friday night and i have never has this great of service, fast, attentive without being in your face annoying. The food is decent, they take NJBC so that’s a plus but in the end its the service that makes it and Dana L will have us coming back again!

The last 2 times I was there they sat us so close to another family. They could hear us talking and we heard every word they were saying too. This is a regular restaurant, not family style dining. Have a little courtesy and don’t seat 2 parties so close together. Although service is generally good I will not be going back there again because of their poor seating practice!

My boyfriend and I just went here tonight for a simple meal. We both ordered prime rib and the unlimited salad bar. The food was delicious, especially the steak, and our waitress was nice but later on that evening I dealt with what I knew from previous experience to be food poisoning. I am almost 99.9% positive that it was from the salad bar considering my steak was cooked to medium. And I know from reviews of other Charlie Brown restaurants that the salad bar has incurred bouts of food poisoning in other customers as well. Just take precaution if you go anywhere near the salad bar. You may not have too much fun afterwards…

I really like this restaurant. I first discovered it because of a craft beer club that I am a member of. The two biggest things that this restaurant has going for it is the salad bar and the beer list. First, the salad bar– this blows the socks off of the other restaurant chan named after the second day of the week with a huge selection of toppings and pre made salads. Go during lunch time for an added bonus of deli meats and cheeses to go on your salad. It’s a meal on its own! If you go during dinner time, the rest of the salad bar is there with plenty of choices that will not disappoint. The second thing they have going for them is the beer selection. While it my not have the depth of their sister restaurant down the street in Westfield, they do have several craft seasonals on draft to keep things interesting. And it is a full bar so if beer is not your thing, there are other options. Some of the entries are hit or miss. I’ve been disappointed by both the crab cakes(too much filler) and the chicken teriyaki stir fry(too mushy). The stuffed pork chops are delicious though!

«Restaurant background music has the power to excite us, or repel us and can be instrumental in setting the mood for a day or night. In the worst case scenario, when you don’t have any control over the music playing, and it’s something you dislike, it can be very irritating». «Music is a critical element of the full dining experience.» We like CB. The salad bar is very good, prime rib excellent, prices fair, service good and they have a good choice of craft beers. Their music selections however totally ruins their dining experience. Thus my 2 star rating. I suggest they do some research and correct the problem.

Ok, so you generally know that you are not going to a Zagat rated restaurant when you head to CB’s, so you don’t expect amazing food, just some good grub with a cool salad bar. What we really took us by surprise was the service last night. All the servers seemed to be really on top of their game. Ours was great(Anthony), the table next to us(a large party) couldn’t stop raving about theirs as well. They were fast, attentive and really friendly. Tables were cleaned quickly empty plates removed without hesitation, and just the right amount of beverage service. Thanks Charlie for making our dining out pleasant and stress free!

We visited the Charlie Brown’s location in Scotch Plains on Easter Sunday. We had a large group and the waitress was very accommodating. The steak was the best I’ve ever had. Sirloin. Paired with a delicious lobster tail! Their salad bar was very unique with toppings that you don’t find at many run of the mill restaurants. Althought there was basketball on, on all the televisions it was not too loud and I was able to chat with my whole party. Next time I’m in the area I will DEFINITELY be returning!
