This is a locally owned coffee shop that shares the same owner as lulu carpenter’s in santa cruz, and appears to be the roasting location all Lulu’s locations. It’s located within a large strip mall parking lot, as such parking is practically unlimited. There is ample indoor and outdoor seating, with a small counter area equipped with bar stool kina seating by the front picture window. Most of the indoor seating is near the back, behind the roasting equipment. Perfect for working specially as the free wi fi is blazing fast. They offer the full range of coffee products, and have a larger then normal variety of pastry items and light lunch items. The quiche is superb, as are the almond croissants. The latte I had ordered with a confusion of dithering choices concerning the dairy options was flawlessly prepared. We had an excellent barista serving us, who was unruffled by multiple fussy drink order changes. I really like this spot for the mostly because of the great coffee options on deck, but also because that barista was super awesome.

I’ve been going to Coffee Cat regularly for almost three years now, but in the last few months I’ve been given the wrong drink three times. First, I had a soy latte made with regular milk. I was truly bummed about this because I abstain from dairy for ethical reasons. Last week I order a plain black iced coffee and was given the New Orleans blend. This wasn’t as bad but they discovered they didn’t have iced coffee so they put a regular cup of coffee over ice, it wasn’t pleasing at all. Today I ordered a soy latte and it didn’t taste quite right, almost like it had a touch of pumpkin or cinnamon. The batista said it was first sure just a soy latte, but was willing to remake it… unfortunately, she has now made 3 other drinks for people who came in after me… I have my drink now and it tastes very different than the one first served to me.

The Coconut Crème Latte is a little addictive, and really special. Even more special is finding I a totally laid back, cool space nuzzled between a safeway and a CVS. I mean — really? It’s like walking into a different world. There’s a reason that every time I come in here, there is a person or two before/after me that is clearly a regular. Every experience I’ve had with the staff here has been positive. Thanks for being in SV!

Great coffee and a great atmosphere. I like how they roast the beans tight in front of you. They also have awesome pastries snack etc. Good customer srvice as well! I recomended this coffee over the crap Starbucks sells.

Beautiful new remodel and the food and coffee are all excellent, but they continually understaff and the wait and inefficiency are ridiculous. Add another staff member, especially on weekends. You have to plan some time to get in and out of here. Hot food and drink should come up at roughly the same time. Not food and then wait 15 minutes for your drink.

Went in there again out of curiosity. Coffee ok but staff is rude, atmosphere not very good, as the owner was insulting the employees. Wow. Would hate to work for a person like that. Especially one who responds to Unilocaler reviewers by calling them morons. Karma! I hear it is working.

This place has the best food selection of any coffee shop and their drinks are just as amazing. They have great variety and their local vibe is wonderful.

I love the atmosphere here at coffee cat! It’s a great place to take time out of your day to sit down for a cup of coffee and get some work done. The only down side about this place is that they don’t have a large menu that displays all the items they have. Based off a small piece of paper next to they registers, I got a iced vanilla chai latte and it was perfect. I will definitely be back to try their delicious looking baked goods.

Definitely do things their own way here, but no complaints about a place that has its own roaster and lots of single origin coffees and local/fair trade choices. I came at a non busy time in the morning and was greeted pleasantly. The cashier led me to their choices as I was looking for something citrusy and bright. I asked about roast levels and she mentioned they didn’t really have the traditional levels of light and dark. They keep it by flavor profiles. I settled for a Brazilian varietal and they were nice enough to open a bag from the shelf to let me try it as a pour over. They made one V60 version and one French press. I have to say that the wait time was a bit on the longer side(around 10 minutes or longer). Seemed to be a bit slow getting started. They have a V60 setup next to some siphons and I thought they’d be a bit more used to starting pour overs right away. Not a bad wait as they have lots to look around at as you wait. The coffee was flavorful. The roast flavor definitely came through. It started off with a darker roast profile, but changed to a pleasant citrusy orange bright note and then back to a smoky darker finish. Mouth feel was light and pleasant. I think I preferred the V60 version, as the French press allowed for more smoky darker roast notes. I like the lighter citrus profile of this variety. Overall, I was happy with the service and selection. Cool little shop with great prices on pour overs. $ 3.50 a drink is reasonable and seems like a great place to hang out or work.

When I use to work at the summer camp in Scotts Valley(Camp Redwood Glen) I would always come here on a break day. I love this place. The cold drinks are amazing. «The Oreo Cool Cat» is my favorite. It’s very rich and thick.

After being absent from Coffee Cat for quite some time, I went in this morning and experienced a Mocha de la Diabla. CRAZY good mix of spices and rich, dark chocolate. The addition of cardamom in the drink left a really great flavor in my mouth. This could become a weekly habit… Also tried the ham and Swiss quiche. A bit pricey, but really rich and filling. Great way to start a morning!

I’ve given Coffee Cat three tries to win my business, but after three strikes, they’re out! I do not like Starbucks due to the pretentious attitudes, but at least their coffee is consistent in quality. With Coffee Cat, their flavor/strength is always different. We are talking either too strong or too weak. I’ve not experienced that perfect flavor. Customer care is also inconsistent. You have staff that run the gamut from very friendly to very put out by your mere presence. Gain some consistency. Especially since you are not the only coffee shop in town. Win over your customers.

* Mocha de LA Diabla was great. Too spicy for my wife, but I thought it just right for a coffee drink. * Chocolate dipped macaroon was tiiiiight. * WiFi is not free. You must buy something and the receipt has a unique access code. So if you’re there with two people and both want WiFi, you should order separately to get your own WiFi codes. My WiFi code only lasted for four hours, but this might have been because they were closing around then. * Music is kind of loud and not easily ignorable. This is fine if you’re there to hang out with friends, but if you wanna do some work then you’d better bring headphones. * Not a good place for people that need quiet to work.

I like this place a lot. They roast their own beans, and I’ll go back and forth between these and Chromatic when I’m buying coffee to make at home. It’s great because they don’t over roast them.(Blegh, that’s like overcooked steak!) The atmosphere is mellow too, lots of people come here to work/lounge. There’s free wifi, and a great selection of food, so I can understand hanging out here for hours at a time. I should mention that everything is made with local ingredients, so that’s pretty sweet too. My favorite thing on the menu is the Mexican Mocha, it’s delicious.

I’ve been to Coffee Cat several times now. I like their loose jasmine green tea(I’m not a coffee drinker). Also like to get the carrot cake which is divine! The baristas are always friendly and helpful. I was impressed with the music the other day, Burial and other underground European electronic artists were playing. I like the spacious, air conditioned, clean and modern atmosphere. There’s also an outdoor patio too. I go there when it’s way too hot at home in Boulder Creek where I live and I need a nice cool place to get down work done online.

ok, so i went back today and am still blown away by how lame the food is! anyone seen the pre-made egg sandwich things ?!! omg :(… so i tried some banana bread today, it’s AWEFUL((stodgy, thick gooey texture, god knows what’s in it. Who eats this stuff? Scoots Valley is a true waste land for foodies, nothing … the only reason this place survives is no competition. Starsucks & Peets … that’s it.

I spoke with the owner, and he mentioned he would see about getting other bagel types in after all. In all my conversations to him, he has always been cordial and friendly. I just don’t know about some of the negative reviewers, and what they see/hear. I’ve been going to Coffee Cat for many years, and not seen a rude employee. Some people may need to switch to decaf before writing reviews :)

My friend found Coffee Cat on Unilocal as we were driving through Scotts Valley on the hunt for coffee… so glad we stopped in! The sweet young lady who served us was super helpful and friendly! The mint mocha was excellent – Also had a chocolate chip cookie… Perfect pick-me-up for the drive back to Sacramento!

Tried out Coffee Cat for the first time the other day with a friend and our babies. Coffee was ok I tried something outside my comfort maybe that is why I didn’t love it, but it was kinda of on the plain side. Enjoyed the atmosphere and it was clean from what I could tell. I will give it another try at some point.
