I really cannot say enough about the customer service. I have been on the market for a new running shoe and have gone to 4 stores(not specialty running stores) and have not been able to find anything close to what i «was looking for»(I didn’t know what I was looking for, but whatever it they didn’t have it). Finally I found out about Scranton Running Co. and was finally able to end my quest for the perfect fit! The sales associate(Justin) spoke with me and listened very closely to all I had to say to help me find what I was looking for. Finally, after narrowing it down to a few pairs I was given the opportunity to run on the treadmill and try them outside. I made a small remark about how I hate treadmills and was told. I COULDTAKETHEMOUTSIDE!(Maybe this is common for specialty running stores, but not anywhere else). By the end, I’d say Justin spent about 30 – 45 minutes helping me choose a shoe and never once seemed impatient. Some people commented on the price, but I wouldn’t say anything was overpriced, high quality products are expensive no matter where you go. Overall I had a great experience and will be excited to return the next time I am in town.

I have been to this place a couple of times since it’s one of the only places in Scranton to get proper running advice and gear. I really want to like this place. I hear the owner is fantastic. Unfortunately, my visits have left a sour taste in my mouth and I am not sure if I want to go back. Example: I primarily reside in Philadelphia, but was home on a visit. I decided it was an opportune time to get a new pair of running shoes for the Broad Street 10 mile race I was running in just under 2 months. I was having some issues of blistering when I ran and wanted to see if my fit was correct. When I walked in I was greeted by a female worker. I told her how I was new to running and was challenging myself to the BSR. Her immediate response was«Oh, you are doing it? I wanted to get it, but I couldn’t.» She asked what time I wanted to finish in and looked utterly disgusted when I said I would just like to finish! After that she was a bit condescending. Yes, I was a new runner. Yes, I was over weight. And yes, I got a slot in a race she wanted. But, she didn’t have to be so obvious about judging me. It wasn’t only the judging that irked me. I asked to get fitted for new sneakers. I ran on the treadmill, she assessed my stride, and brought out a bunch of sneakers. Each pair was too wide. My foot was sliding out of them. I needed them tighter but she said they were too loose. I practically begged her if I could try on this pair of Asics Nimbus-es. I loved them. She discouraged me from getting them. Saying they were all wrong for my stride and foot. I disobeyed and got them anyway. Months later back in Philadelphia, I went to Fairmount Running Co and asked to get fitted for new sneakers. I wasn’t sure if the Asics were the best(since I did disobey SRC). The guy working there informed me they were a perfect fit. Which makes me wonder, what would have happened if I didn’t go with my instinct and was too intimidated by a veteran runner.
