The good. Quick service. Not exactly overly friendly but efficient. Ample portions. The bad. Well the brisket was tough. I may have had a bad one. But I think that they need to buy meat that’s a little more fatty to get the meat more tender. I also ordered the chicken and it was cooked but dry. Again not sure what they need to do different. Overall it was just ok.

This place gave me food poisoning. Stay away until they clean the place up. I used to love coming by here on my home, but lately the service has been bad and the food. I had to wait in the driveway for 30 minutes and I was the ONLY car. It was crazy. I ordered a potato topper. That’s it. I waited at the window for ten minutes before they even came to window to get my money. The lady was just standing there. It’s pretty clearly she doesn’t like her job. She finally opened the window and said the price grabbed my card swiped it and put it down on the cash machine walked away with a cup in her hand came back to hand me my card and have me sign. I looked so puzzled cause it was crazy. After that I had to wait another 20 minutes to get my food. I wanted to leave but I had already paid. I would say this is the first time, but it’s not they do this all the time. I come to visit twice a week and I stop there atleast once or twice a month. Anyway! After I got my food of course it wasn’t hot which made me mad. I made it home and ate the food about 2 hours later I got extremely ill out of no where. I had breakfast earlier that day and nothing else until I eat from this place. I was so sick throwing up all that cold BBQ. I know they won’t do anything about it but they need to clean up and retrain their staff. I won’t be back I’ll save my 9 bucks for some things.

Stopped here for lunch on the way to Brookshire. The food was mediocre at best. I personally can say Dickies BBQ is better and they are a major chain. I ordered the regular BBQ plate with sliced brisket, sausage, potato salad and okra. The brisket was dry and fatty, the sausage was decent. I don’t understand charging $ 0.50 extra for okra, but that was probably the best part of my meal. The potato salad was disgusting to me. The BBQ sauce was some of the best I’ve tasted in a long time.

Husband and I shared a veggie plate and ½ pound of brisket and ½ pound of sausage. Brisket was so tender, nice smoke but could use a tad more seasoning. The veggie plate was okay. Didn’t care for the coleslaw– had an odd aftertaste. I also had the bacon and onion potatoes but did not see a single piece of onion or bacon, but it had bacon grease as flavoring. It tasted good but would have liked to have seen bacon and onion in my bacon and onion potatoes. lol Price is normal for BBQ. I would give 10 stars for its homemade BBQ sauce. We even ordered a qt sized container to take home. LOVE, LOVE, LOVEIT!!!‘ It is a good thing we don’t live close by, my husband would be 800 lbs because he could eat a loaf of bread with their sauce. Will definitely eat here again if given the opportunity!

Stopped here on my way from Houston to San Antonio with visions of delicious brisket only to be extremely disappointed! Bland and awful come to mind in describing the plate I had. The sausage and brisket were so tasteless that I might as well have eaten cardboard. Thank God for the pickles to give it some flavor! As for the sauce it belongs on spaghetti –not brisket! I believe it’s called marinara sauce. That is what it tasted like. The ambiance was one where flies were allowed to be part of the décor. Don’t even think of stopping here! No wonder my friend always gets a cheeseburger at this bbq place.

Excellent food with older building exterior! The bbq was first class as was the cheeseburger. We only stopped in because Whataburger was so crowded. The Hinze’s parking lot was full too, but we went in anyway. The food was terrific and the staff very nice. I’ll stop there again for sure the next time I’m close.

The Chicken is the BOMB. I would have expected it to be the ribs. Fried okra and chicken fried steak not greasy like so many barbecue places.

Got the combo sandwich with brisket and sausage, very generous portion of meats so A+. The sauce is good but not great but when added to the meats, it’s very complementary and makes the sandwich from good to great! Fried onion rings were crunchy and just perfectly cooked, same with the fried okra, just how I like it. The person taking the order was a bit rude so huge turnoff, but not enough to ruin the meal. First time visiting and will most likely return, hope they work on their customer service.

Decent, but not as good as the Hinzes on 59S on the way to Victoria. The staff here is kind of dumb and rude. Not a great selection of beer either.

I discovered this gem a couple of years ago while in the area for work, and every time I happen to be passing through during lunch I always make it a point to stop here. It never disappoints! The menu is varied, with plates and sandwiches, Barbeque and fried fish. There’s even cobblers to choose from. I always order a chopped brisket sandwich and a side of fried okra. My coworker today ordered a sliced beef sandwich, a side of potato salad, and a side of blackberry cobbler. The place was packed, which is always a good sign. You order and pay at the front then wait for your number to be called. The food comes out fairly quickly and is always delicious. There is even a pretty great condiment bar to choose from, with regular and vinegar-soaked onions, marinated carrots, pickles, and jalapeños. The sandwiches are on buns and the side of okra is not greasy is always more than I can eat. I am a major fan of this place!

Not the same place as it used to be. Food was still good, unfortunately the place is filthy, with nobody making any attempts to clean it. Had to clean our table just to sit down. Trash, food and spilled drinks all over the floor and booths were all sticky. If this is how they keep the dining room, it makes you wonder what’s going on in the kitchen! Sorry to say, this will be our last time.

Was pretty unimpressed with the food here. Here for work and live in North Carolina. Maybe I’m too used to NC bbq. The brisket was pretty tasty. However, the cole slaw was disgusting. The ribs were pretty fatty, so I wasn’t able to enjoy them as much as I thought I would. Just a bummer of an experience. :(husband had the pulled pork sandwich and macaroni salad, both were ok.

Surprisingly great little barbeque joint in Sealy! I’ve driven by this place so many times on my way to and from Houston/Austin without ever knowing that this treasure was right here right off i-10! This totally would have saved me a few hangry road trips. They had a special for pulled pork when I visited. They were serving pulled pork sandwiches and stuffed potatoes, both at a pretty fair price! I got my pulled pork stuffed potato with no sour cream and less butter and cheese. Then I lovingly drowned the spud with a their homemade barbeque sauce that was sitting in a warming pot on the order pick-up counter. Another friend got their fried catfish so I got to try it! It was pretty delicious. It had a good amount of batter-to-fish ratio. I definitely had food-envy! Ambiance was pretty casual. The décor makes you feel like you’re in a bit of a man cave. It seems pretty family friendly, although the main space seems a bit tight. If you have small kids, you have have a bit of an issue of maneuvering around a high chair. The highlight of this place was definitely their showcase of cakes. I felt like I was looking at a display of gloriously lit-up sweet calories. And the carrot cake was calling out my name. The kind lady told me that the carrot cake was her fav. Lucky her, its also one of my favs. She said that typically, you’d have to order the cake ahead of time. But they did have a full carrot available for $ 25. Homemade delicious cake for $ 25… I’m drooling again already. Unfortunately, I was stuffed from the aptly-named potato since it was so delicious and I couldn’t stop eating it that I didn’t have room for and cake. So sad, but I will remedy this tragedy soon enough!

One of the best BBQ joints west of Houston. Tasty brisket and pulled pork sandwiches. This place is always busy on weekends. They used to have a second location on Mason road in Katy, but it wasn’t as popular for some reason. Hinze’s currently has a second location on highway 59 in Wharton that always looks busy when we drive by. The Sealy location is the original and I know the food at this location is delicious. On my last visit, I decided to go with the special and grabbed a pulled pork sandwich for $ 5. It was delicious and had plenty of meat. The sauce is also very good and Hinze’s has small covered containers for you take with a to-go order.

Sides, sides, sides! There are so many sides to pick from! This was my first visit to Hinze’s. I am not typically that excited about eating BBQ, however I do love potato salad and cole slaw, so I was excited for those items alone. Once I began reviewing the menu, I was overwhelmed by how many sides there were to chose from! There was the standard potato salad and coleslaw of course, as well as mac and cheese, broccoli salad, black eyed pea salad, 3 different kind of beans, and the list goes on and on, there were probably 20 choices. If you look over the counter on the right side you can get a look at some of them. I chose the light plate, which had a choice of 1 meat and 2 sides. I opted for the beef brisket, broccoli salad, and black eyed pea salad. My meal was excellent(see photo). The brisket was well seasoned and I really liked the BBQ sauce, though I wish I had a bit more than a small plastic cup. There was not BBQ sauce on the table as is with most BBQ joints. The sides were delicious. They tasted fresh and flavorful, I ate every bite of them! The meal was also served with a slice of bread which was shockingly delicious bread, maybe even house made? I can’t wait to come back and try more of the sides, though it will be hard not to order the black eyed peas again.
