I just went to Heather today for highlights and a cut. She did such an amazing job!!! I love everything about my hair, plus the price was affordable. Heather was so fun to talk with — I felt like I’d known her for years. I will be going back for sure.

So I tend to be someone who likes trying new hair salons and new stylists, never quite content. That all stopped when I first went to Heather at 14^th Ave Hair. Not only did she really take the time to understand what I was going for, but she was extremely communicative about the progress.
For my birthday, she spent hours painstakingly shaving patterns into my undercut and it was an absolute hit at the party. I make sure to visit every time I’m in town!

I wasn’t sure exactly what I wanted, but I knew I wanted something fresh and low maintenance.
Heather was perfect and the place was friendly and inviting!

I bought the Amazon Local deal for a cut, deep conditioning treatment and blow dry. It was fantastic! I came in on a Monday night so it was very quiet and relaxing and my stylist, Lori was super friendly and easy to talk to. She gave my a wonderful hair cut and respected my concerns for not wanting too much length taken off. I will definitely be going back!

Went in for the first time yesterday. Immediately in love with gorgeous exterior and the intimate feel. I was greeted promptly and pleasantly, offered refreshments and made to feel comfortable. Heather was AMAZING and did my cut/​condition/​style on par with Seven at a much less ludicrous price. You’ve earned a new fan, Heather and 14^th Ave Hair, thank you! :)

Love this place! Heather Starling is an impressive colorist and stylist. She takes care of my hair regularly and did a complex coloring job on my daughter’s hair, which she loved! Since I’ve been going to Heather, I tell everyone who’s interested about her. She takes care of my whole family, including dreadlocks, funky colors, and my more conservative head:)

Heather is amazing — unlike my last hair stylist elsewhere, she can always repeat what she did the time before (and is always up for something new!). I’m always happy with what we did when I leave!

Over the years, I’ve gotten really weird about my hair. I guess. I used to dye it and cut it super short, but eventually I decided to go natural and long. Once my hair was about shoulder length, I went shamphree — also called no poo. Well what happens before every haircut? A shampoo! Heavens, no!
Heather listened to me, trusted that I could take care of my scalp myself, and worked with what can only be called my hair insanity. She just wetted my hair — no shampoo or conditioner. Then she gave me an awesome haircut that took out some of the excess bulk, shaped everything real nice, and even cut it so it’s more likely to accent my natural curl. (I didn’t ask for that last one but I should have if I had known!) I’m a fan!

David knows how to do a spiral perm like nobody’s business. AND he’s a hoot to be stuck in a salon with. He’ll also special order any hair product your little heart desires. I couldn’t say enough good things about him.

I recently purchased an Amazon deal for cut and all-​over color. Lori was my stylist. She did a wonderful job. I am very happy with my cut, and she did a great job with the color. It turned out more subtle than I had in mind, but I also told her I trusted her judgment, and my husband said that my hair looks «10 years younger.» It’s a very pleasant salon, and I enjoyed my experience. I’ll be back!

I bought an amazon local deal for a haircut here, taking a chance, and I am glad I did! Lori was awesome. Amazing to talk to and did a fantastic job on my hair. I just got a simple trim, but it was exactly what I wanted. If you are looking for a great haircut, with a comfortable, calming atmosphere, I would suggest going here!

Heather is a talented and affordable stylist, and very personable and easy to talk to.
A friend recommended Heather to me in Fall 2011 when I put a call out on Facebook that I was looking for an affordable hairstylist who is great with curly hair. I’d tried a couple of expensive «designer» salons and was unhappy because the hair stylists never wanted to give me a funky doo. Fortunately I’ve finally found my ideal stylist; Heather is exactly who I was looking for! I’ve been seeing her regularly now for my short curly hair, and I will keep seeing her for years to come. Heather does long and straight hair great too; I recommended her to coworker with straight hair and she’s happy with Heather, too.
I also can’t complain about $ 35 for a women’s cut. Very reasonable!

I am thoroughly impressed with 14^th Ave Hair. I came across the business at a street fair a few weeks back, where Heather, Lori, and a few others were handing out free samples w/​a coupon and doing free bang trims. Heather cleaned up my bangs for me, and I decided to go back for the full deal.
Wow am I glad I did because she did such a great job! I had a style in mind and she listened to exactly what I wanted and talked everything through with me beforehand. I wanted to keep my length, but I have curly/​wavy hair and my layers were overgrown, and she just did a stellar job finding the right balance between the two. She is awesome and has a great personality and I will definitely go back to see her. This was also one of the most affordable cuts I’ve received in Seattle.
Also worth mentioning — the salon accepts walk-​ins (I called to make an appointment that day with no trouble at all), I didn’t have any problems finding parking around the corner, and it is very clean and pretty on the inside.

I’ve walked past this salon many times and finally decided to try it. Best decision ever as David did a great job cutting my hair. He asked me what I wanted and gave me what I asked for. My hair looked great! Atmosphere of the salon is also very comfortable and relaxing. Another plus is David’s personality — pleasantly sociable but he doesn’t talk your ear off.

Lori cut my hair for years, then stopped doing hair for a while. In the time she took off, I left Seattle. Are these two things related? no, but that would make a good story.
However! The next time I am in Seattle, I don’t care if I have to take out a mortgage to do it, I will have an appointment with Lori! Nobody in my life has ever given me such consistently terrific haircuts, and anyone lucky enough to have her do their hair is bound to feel the same.
Seriously. She’s a hair whisperer. I can’t WAIT to have her do my hair again!

I got a bad haircut here once. +1 for taking both walk-​ins and pressure off of other, perhaps more facile stylists elsewhere.
Note: there is nothing ‘suspicious’ about not liking the haircut I received or posting about it on a reviews website. The owner took great pains to follow up with me which I appreciate, even offering a free do-​over, but make-​good doesn’t un-​make bad. Caveat emptor.

Heather is the best :) I’ve been to a lot of different salons around town, and she is the only stylist that has been able to cut my hair exactly how I wanted it. And, $ 35 for a ladies haircut is fantastic! I am happy to finally have found a salon to be loyal to. Also, parking was a breeze, considering it is Cap Hill.
