The best donuts in Seattle. Top pot is not even close to Aurora Donuts. The lady in the cashier is lovely. Bavarian cream and Boston cream are the best filled ones and the simple sugar is my favorite to eat half a dozen!

The only place to find DD munchkins aka donut holes. This was a Dunkin Donuts 25+ years ago and I am so happy even though it hasn’t been one for decades they still kept a similar feel and make DD style donuts. Yum!

Because of all the wonderful reviews for these donuts, my daughter and I decided to make the trip from Lake Stevens to 132nd and Aurora Ave last Sunday around noon. What a great disappointment! She bought a dozen chocolate donut holes, took one bite and threw the rest out. They were hard, dry and hardly chocolate. She also got an apple fritter, took one bite and threw it out as well. Said it was old and hard. We bought a dozen assorted donuts and tried a few. We both agreed Safeway’s are much better, which says little for Aurora Donuts. However, we were in luck because we were only six blocks away from Krispy Kreme, which made our day. I sure wish I could give them less than 1 star.

Yum yum yum! Ordered donuts and coffee and they were very tasty! I ordered everything to go, but wanted to sample the strawberry filled powdered donut before I left the store. I ended up just staying and eating both donuts AND my medium coffee lol

People have said it below, but I’ll restate it: this is a Dunkin Donuts with a different name. More specifically, it is a Dunkin Donuts that’s been frozen in time from say, the mid 90s? The layout, building-sharing with a Baskin Robbins, the fonts, the layout, and the recipes. I’m super curious about the history of this location but I’d guess it was a Dunkies back in the day when they tried to have businesses in Seattle. When it closed up shop the franchise owner said«f it, I’ll just change the name.» Take note, some people love Dunkin Donuts for the coffee, I do not think this place uses DD coffee or their processes any longer. This is strictly a Dunkin Donuts donut shop. If you are from the East coast and this type of donut is your bag, GOFORIT. The chocolate kreme filled is my personal favorite.

Good donuts but not extraordinary. I tried the Boston crème, the glazed and the French curler. Wasn’t too impressed with the Boston crème, I have definitely had way better. The other two were pretty good. I didn’t go during the morning so the donuts were not as fresh, which maybe the reason why the place didn’t live up to its Unilocal average rating. Overall, I was satisfied and could come back for more.

Got their special for a dozen. For the price, its okay. Nothing special about them. Give it a try. Suppose to be same recipe from Dunkin. Just not for us.

This store has the most delicious donuts I have ever tasted. I just stopped in not even 20 minutes ago, and was amazed at their very large selection. I purchased a vanilla crème donut, and my husband purchased an apple fritter(it was huge). We devoured them as soon as we got home. They were fluffy, soft, and didn’t make me feel like I ate a bag of sugar. Overall, a delicious experience, and we will definitely be returning to this location!

I have been going here for the past two weeks on a Sunday because all the Sunday places here have got bru ch. When you are an old goat like me… you like certain things for breakfast especially on a sunday and this is the place to go. The coffee is is rich and creamy and not bitter. And the donuts are just fabulous. Try the Strawberry jelly filled and it was just so good that I wanted another and since I live near there I will continue to go there and have a good time doing so. Go …take it from an aging old goat… this place knows donuts. I should know.

Super friendly and super tasty. The donuts are soft and crispy. So much better than Top Pot and Krispy Kreme and they are much better than even the best mom and pop place. The french cruller is the best.

My absolute favorite donut shop I have ever been to, and I’ve traveled all the way to Oregon just to find a new donut to blow my mind. My mind stays blown in Seattle though, as nobody, not even VooDoo; makes my brain or my tummy feel as good as an Aurora Donuts donut.

Two things to note right off the bat, one I’m a professional baker, I own a catering company specializing in baked goods. And two, I’m from Ohio, been to NYC, been to Boston, been to most big cities on the east coast and Midwest. That being said I KNOWDONUTS! Whew, okay that’s off my chest… anyways. We moved here over ten years ago, we longed for a little taste of what we were used to food wise, we’d find a little something here or there(still no decent pizza anywhere aside from my own oven once every few weeks when I make it from scratch) still no wedding soup, or pierogies that aren’t dumplings but actually pierogies. No true Italian bread, no real stick to your bones mom and pop dinner places where you don’t get violently ill shortly after eating or have to deal with quinoa or trust fund hippies reading books on Mother Nature while asking if the meat loaf is vegan… I see I’ve strayed from my post. You see my dilemma, we as a city have a vast culture of foods to choose from but those of us transplanted here always long for something we remember from East coast and Midwest. Now about these donuts. I was tired of trying to tell myself Top Pot is good because everyone said so, they’re not. Tried to tell myself grocery store donuts were edible, even though I felt gross after a few bites. I scoured Unilocal,my trusty companion for some truth in foods and other things I need/want/use and saw this wasn’t too far. So we pile two of three sons into the Toyota, drive down aurora ave, and stopped there. Middle son rarely eats donuts, youngest son has tasted them but never fully ate a whole one out of all the«wow, so good» places we’ve tried. So hubs and I walk in, immediately greeted, kids sat down, middle son got some Baskin Robbins(How cool is that they’re in the same building!) and hubs and I proceeded to orde various ones we wanted, oldest son may want, and a couple we hoped the other two sons would try. The woman working was super sweet, very fast, and said«See you next week» as we left. Hubs and I laughed about that, half knowing no donut place in Seattle has ever seen us a week later… This was two days ago. Donuts wiped out. Middle son ate his two double chocolate, youngest son is in love with plain cake, and hubs, oldest son and myself are now aurora donut addicts. Today we shamefully returned, we’re not huge sweets eaters due to me being a baker and my sons always eat with moderation with stuff like that, but holy crap these donuts are good. Light, airy, not cake like unless noted CAKE donut, the fillings are amazing(choc crème is my favorite now and I ate one in three bites) and the frosting so perfect. After digging deeper with reviews we realized why we like this place so much… dunkins. It’s a healthier version of dunkin donuts, if there is such a thing. Two days ago when we first got them I ate two donuts back to back, I wasn’t sick to my stomach, didn’t feel like I needed Wilford Brimley to bring Liberty Mutual diabetes insulin to me, and it wasn’t heavy in my gut. So do not hesitate, do not even stumble, just drive the speed limit, pull in, and bask in the glory of Aurora Donuts. Didn’t take us a week to see the counter lady, her donuts made us loyal and we will be regulars there now, my baked goods are amazing, but I don’t do donuts… THEY win the donut crown, that is for darn sure!

How I heard of this place: Despite having driven by it a number of times in the past decade, it never quite grabbed my attention. This visit was special, recommended by a friend and North Seattle dweller who was set to indulge her out of town guests/friends’ donut request. Type of cuisine: Donuts and ice cream(Baskin Robbins). Ambiance: Simple, unpretentious, reminiscent of the 1980s. What I ordered: We ordered a dozen donuts($ 12.99) including Boston Crème, Sugar Raised, Manager’s Special: Powdered Chocolate Cake, Chocolate, Toasted Coconut, Buttermilk, Powdered, Old Fashioned, Honey Dipped, and Lemon. What I loved: Powdered Chocolate Cake. Simple and true to its name. Why I loved it: Soft and light, one can easily enjoy — or at least sample — more than one! Cost: Average to high($ 0.99 — $ 1.29 per donut)

Absolutely the best donuts in Seattle! These donuts are so perfect– soft, pillowy, chewy, and the fillings are absolutely yummy. I’ve noticed donuts in Seattle are extremly cakey and almost pound cake-like. There are some fancy places, but the flavors and textures are so so. This place is spot on. Come and try their sugar raised, apple cinnamon, as well as their jelly filled donuts. I can eat 10 in one sitting! Their donut holes are great too!

Aurora Donuts is really good. People say it’s a Dunkin Donuts. I’m not sure about that(I’m from Maine and have had my fair share of DD) but it’s pretty darn good. Their old fashioned cake donuts are good but not quite like cake donuts from DD, in my opinion. Nonetheless, counter service is friendly and the donuts are solid. I’m a fan and will be back again and again!

This review is a long time coming. Aurora Donuts, you are the bomb. 3 months ago, my boss decided she wanted 300 pink donuts in 5 hours for a party at work to celebrate a project launch. The only problem? No donut shop near my office with a pink donut. Off in the car I went to buy any kind of pink looking donuts possible as fast as possible after I spent an hour calling many places who all said they couldn’t deliver on the short notice and didn’t have any for me to pick up either. I went down 99, remembering passing Aurora Donuts. I went in with my crazy request. The sweet gal and man working were surprised but up for the challenge. They had some sprinkles on hand that qualified, but the shop keeper offered to frost all of the 100 plain cake donuts he had pink for me if I could wait. I said I was happy to do that. After about 15 minutes, they had all 100 donuts frosted, boxed or bagged(I took the last box they had that day). The shop keeper, feeling sympathy for me, asked if my boss was out to test me or something. I said no, this is how she rolls. I went to pay and ordered a soda since I was very thirsty as I had been to a grocery store just before this and cleaned them out of what they had too. The owner told me the soda was on the house for my trouble — wow!!! — and then he asked the gal working to help me carry all the pastries out to my car which she was happy to do. WOW! After I had to go to Krispy Kreme for the rest and the party began, I only ate one of Aurora’s donuts, and it was good. Not the best donut I’ve ever had, but it was tasty. And I don’t think I’ve ever had such service from a bakery/small business of any kind like here. I also want to note that while I was standing around waiting for the avalanche of donuts to be frosted, there were some patrons hanging out in the shop. They were clearly hanging out for a couple hours because they felt comfortable there and knew they wouldn’t be told to leave. They were elderly or handicapped, and I could tell they were regulars. This donut/ice cream place was a second home to them, a reprieve from the world. How refreshing and wonderful that the people who own Aurora Donuts are the kind of people that they are. I learned a lot that day from the shop keeper and his employee. Service: 5 Ambiance: 3 Parking: 4 Food: 4

Aurora Donut is a good, solid place to grab a donut. I like the simple arrangement of donuts in the front case and on the wall behind the counter. Every so often, I’ll see someone pop out of the back, assuring me that bakers are hard at work making goodies. I like that they’re never terribly busy and that they discount the donuts after 3pm each day. They’re also available for late night cravings but I wouldn’t use the bathroom. I enjoy the company of the people who own the business. The lady is always nice and makes conversation as we enjoy our treats. I feel bad because it’s clear that they get some of the rougher Aurora traffic but seem to take it in stride. I’m partial to chocolate cream filled. I wouldn’t consider anything in the case«fancy» but it’s a good donut made by a small business that has staying power.
