Amazing German deli in the heart of pike’s place market. I have been there a couple times, I love the brat lunch. The brats ofcourse are awesome, but I was really surprised with the quality of the sauerkraut. Normally this is wet gooey mess. But this place has really mastered the art of a good kraut. Loved it, a perfect accompaniment to the brat … oh yeah they do not give you mustard by default but if you ask for it they will give you a small cup of their spicy yellow that went really well with the meal. Definitely will be back to this place.

This review doesn’t need much as most of recent posts are spot on. Great meats and sausages, a staff who is friendly and helpful, and a great selection of German delicacies. If you are in Pikes Place Market stop by just for the smell — you’ll leave with a bag full of goodies though.

Having reviewed DeLaurenti a while ago, I realized I was remiss in not reviewing it’s Bavarian counterpart at the Pike Place Market. So here I am reviewing my other go to European grocer/deli. This place obviously focuses on Germanic foods and treats and does so very well. The deli case is laden with more northern European meats and cheese, including several house brand sausages. Their Braunschweiger is the only one I will eat, and their landjaeger is possibly the best I have ever had. You can often find a selection of their sausages at QFC in the deli, I don’t think the price is to different, but if you are at PPM you really should stop by here. They are just north of the ‘original’ Starbucks, next door to a cutlery shop, the door is offset 45 degrees and recessed from the sidewalk so they can be easily missed if the market is busy. Five stars for this place because I am never going to find a better Bavarian grocer/deli in Seattle, and fortunately I don’t have to look for one.

Amazing German deli and grocer. Great spot for lunch also with handmade Germans lunches at reasonable prices and big portions. If you are nice to the ladies there, they will give you a free wiener to eat while you wait in line to order. Check out the freezer too. Handmade Apple strudel.

Feels like you are in a market in Munich. We came to visit from San Francisco, and were happily surprised. Meats are awesome — the smoked bratwurst are my favorite. Liked them so much we brought 2lbs of them back on the flight home with us. Also their meals are very authentic — who doesn’t love a good schnitzel?

Bavarian Meats is like a quick trip back to Germany. Except it’s in Seattle, of course — right down the street from the original Starbucks. Inside, there is a long deli counter filled will delicious wursts, hams and other German delicacies. Much of it is housemade, some is imported. You can take your choices home for a tasty and filling meal, or you can order from their small menu of German favorites and dine in(think weiner schnitzel, etc). There’s also a really good selection of German groceries including the hard to find but oh-so-delicious paprika potato chips plus all the tube mustard you could ask for. I was quite impressed with the candy choices — sure they’ve got Kinders and Ritters but they had a big stock of Advent calendars for the holidays, Asbach liquor filled candies and even Smarties chocolate ornaments! Prices were quite reasonable with Ritters a little less than other places in the area. Whether you’re looking for a present for your oma, or just miss a taste of the old country, Bavarian Meats has you covered.

It is best described as a German Delicatessen and Charcuterie, it holds up to its name. I came in and immediately glimpsed all the German made products lining the shelves as well as the deli case with so much fresh and good looking food. I ended up settling for the soup of the day which was a German sausage vegetable soup, very good! And for the price it was good as well, I’ll be coming back.

If you’ve never tried their smokin hot cheese sausage, it is literally the best we’ve ever had. First time eating it, we just literally kept saying«wow, wow.» Very juicy, full of spicy flavor with smooth, creamy cheese finish. The texture is incredible. Super good. Everything made by Bavarian is fantastic but the sausage and the landjaegers are our absolute favorite.

During my younger years I spent countless summers in Germany and whenever I come across a store that offers german products, I make sure that I stop by. This store is really cute and has a dining area where you can enjoy the deli items they offer as well as their bratwurst and sausages. They offer items that will certainly take you back to Germany. They even offer the mezzo mix which I admit I try to replicate in all the soda fountains I come across. This is quite pricey but one must understand that the products have to be imported.

Don’t let the touristy nature of the PPM get you down. This place is really awesome! I’m pretty psyched to see *real* German products all in one place. They’ve got Senf, Currywurst Ketchup, beers, candies, and a whole array of meats to choose from! Almost like a real butcher shop, you can get all the meat your heart desires. you can even sit down for a hot lunch. They have seating which, in my experience, never gets too crowded. I guess the tourists don’t want to sit at a German Deli. They have my favorite beer in stock here! The prices are also quite reasonable. I love dropping in from time to time to pick up something when I’m feeling German. They also speak German here ;D

Cute German shop run by nice German ladies(at least I think they are!). Came in around 10AM on a Tuesday to get some cheese and salami for my baguette. A lady helped me and gave me suggestions on what salami and cheese would pair well with my baguette I got from Le Panier(drool). She also gave me samples of salami which, clearly, only an insane person would turn down. I ended up getting a pepper salami with gruyère cheese. Before I checked out, I grabbed a bag of spaetzle and a pear chocolate bar(YUM)! They also sell food they make there and they have a couple tables for you to dine in. Cute shop!

This is a very authentic shop. The cook, who delivered our excellent schnitzels to us, only spoke to us in German even though we gave no indication we spoke the language. We do not, and this is not a criticism, it just added to the ambiance. The pretzels were also excellent and are available as rolls, long rolls, or traditional pretzels. Served with butter or mustard! The prices were in-line with other meals in downtown Seattle, and worth it. Keep in mind that it’s counter-top seating except one table, which may make it complicated to accommodate a family, especially during peak times. The selection of goods was impressive, but way overpriced. They wanted $ 5 for a package of napkins, for example, and $ 3-$ 4 for a small packet of Dr. Oetker seasonings. Finally, the bottled beers were bar-prices even though it was a deli. We recommend you stop in for a meal and a pretzel or three, but get your dried goods elsewhere.

I had no idea how good potato salad could be served warm! Their plates are simple, cheap, and delicious! I don’t know if I will go anywhere else to eat on Pike Place!

Curry wurst is delicious. Tastes just like being back in Germany. The curry ketchup is legit and to die for. Usually they are pretty quick but today it took a half hour to get my food and I was on my lunch break. They are very friendly and the service is normally great.

How can you not love this place? Stop by for lunch, order a sausage, German potatoes, red cabbage, and a cold beer. Then sit at the counter and watch the interesting people walk by. I am German so I may be biased, but I have never had a bad experience at Bavarian Meats — and I have been visiting Pike Place for a long time. Sure, the place gets busy and the service is sometimes slow, but keep in mind that there are usually only a couple of sweet ladies working behind the counter. If you are a local or a tourist, I recommend everyone visit at least once.

Staff are either knowledgeable & unwilling to help or incompetently helpful. Neither seem like a savy business model; also, in the few times I’ve been there, the food is over-priced and mediocre. They won’t be getting return business, from me; I got the impression that arrangement would work out for both of us. I’m sure they get enough of Beecher’s impatient overflow customers and unknowing tourists, due to the location in Pike Place Market.

When I posted a photo of me standing in front of the sausage counter and then taglined it «Victoria and her Bavarian sausages» on FB, no one bothered to «like» it(until recently), I know it’s a too long in the tooth kind of self-deprecation note, but still, it’s funny, at least to me. Oh well. Bought the spicy and normal salami to take home. Their white sausage reminded me of the frankfurter, totally yummy. So many German goodies in the store. I chatted with the shop keeper, turns out that my annual return to Bavaria has impressed even the German native. I was eying the fresh Ruben sandwich, though at that point I just had lunch and was not particularly hungry. Warning, sandwich can feed the entire village and is soft and delicious. There are a number of smoked ham products that reminded me of Germany. In fact one particular piece of meat reminded me what they had on display at Frankfurt’s Lufthansa’s First Class lounge inside of their First Class terminal. Of course it made me happy that they had variety of headcheese. I asked for a few slices of blood and tongue headcheese. It’s absolutely my favorite. I had that for dinner. The store also has a small selection of sweets, soups and sauces in packages. I do anything with marzipan on it. It is more expensive than what you’d get say in a local speciality store, but when you are at the Market, it’s awfully convenient. I brought some spicy and regular salami home to give away as presents. What did you know, my best friend, the only Bavarian friend via the way of the Midwest, liked them a lot. In fact he had them for dinner with some white wine like a true German. I’m telling you, at least someone appreciated my passion for Bavarian sausages.

The only place in Seattle where I have found blood pudding. Tastes similar to the maple leaf kind, yummmm! We also bought thick cut bacon and garlic & herb sausages but haven’t got into those yet. Unilocal says this place is closed Sunday but we got there before noon and they were open. Maybe they’re just not open late on Sunday’s?

Great German market. Very cute and well stocked. Lady who helped us was very nice. If you are looking for imported items from Germany — this is the place. The hubby and I got some spaetzel(I make my own but I wanted to try a packaged version), beer, and fresh pretzels. We also took home some sausages and lunch meats. We thought they were just ok, The bockwurst was very bland compared to others I have tried and the hubby wasn’t crazy about his lunch meats. We still have some bratwurst and weiners to try. We would definitely go back to try some other items. I know their cheese sausage is great having had it on a hot dog at Toyko Dog.
