These guys aren’t kidding about the ‘Big’ part of their name, portions are pretty hefty at their food truck. They mainly serve grilled open-face flat bread sandwiches, although you have the option of substituting rice for the bread. The ‘Sasquatch’ has pulled pork, green mango chutney and coleslaw. It was very tasty, but for me, I kept thinking about the pulled pork fry bread tacos I’ve had at the Off the Rez food truck. I liked that one better. No offense to Big Food. The ‘Sasquatch’ is pretty darn tasty. They do a great job and deserve their immense popularity.

I am writing this review while eating Bigfood’s platter. They are catering a charity event in our office premises. I have SEQUOIA, SASQUATCH, grilled flatbread, SIDESALAD(vegan one with — pineapple) and cole slaw basmati rice. First the rice. This is good quality Basmati and it smells nice(tempered with star anise) But it’s undercooked and rigid. Second, I tired a bit of cole slaw and I can taste bad coconut. I am talking about that rancid taste when coconut goes bad or expires. The chicken and pork are moist and juicy but I taste no blend of wonderful spices that either Caribbean or Indian cuisine offers. Masala gone bad, eh? The so called chutney(blackcurrant) which I was told goes with pulled pork is joke. Chutney is suppose to complement the main dish and a good chutney is generally a great medley of spices. The only thing I could taste is cloves. Anyone who works with spices should know cloves can be overwhelming if not used with subtlety. Lastly the bread, it is good and soft for grilled flat bread. But this is no Naan. The only decent thing was the salad with pineapple. Maybe this was their day off. Or maybe they didn’t want to bring their A game because they were catering at a place where we get no Food trucks. What baffles me is why does Unilocal has this as Indian food? I can attest this is none. I didn’t try this food expecting a genuine Indian food but was expecting some decent fusion of some sort. As a born and bred Indian, I am appalled. And, this doesn’t resemble any Caribbean food I have had in my life. I fail to so see what’s the big deal with Big Food.

Bigfood Mobile has never let me down. I see them whenever I can and the Sasquatch is my ‘go to’ order. It’s hard to find a perfect balance of flavors but they do it. I love all that is naan but throwing it on the grill before the food is served is brilliant! Pork that is cooked well and never dried out. Slaw that is completely off the hook with texture and flavor. What more can I say? I’m a fan. I often had a hard time catching Bigfood Mobile as their route never seemed to fall in line with my lunch schedule. I was super excited to have them open up a bricks location at The Armory at Seattle Center. That being said, I’ll leave that location for another review.

I reaaaallllly wanted to like this, tried a Sasquatch at the Seattle Center location. Was impressive looking, slightly difficult to eat, and not nearly as flavorful as I had expected. The meat was cooked well, but it needed more spice, plus the entire thing was a bit dry. Felt like it needed the option for more sauce in some way. I might give them another shot on something else(catering hor d’ouvere menu looked awesome), but this was totally subpar. =\

If you’re a fan naan, pita, flour tortilla, or just dough in general, you’ll definitely LOVE their grilled flat bread. Original and authentic dishes. Nothing like it out there.yet. Portions are, well, BIG. It’ll barely fit in your to-go box. Most importantly, food is DELISSSSSSH! For a 1st timer, try the SASQUATCH(pulled pork + slaw) or if you prefer beef, do the YETI(same slaw as the pork). You’d be crazy to sub rice for the flat bread, but if you must, do it for the Sequoia(kind of like Chicken curry). If you still have enough run, I recommend the Sweet Bread(cinnamon, sugar, cream, apple). Vegetarian options available as well. Daily specials if you’re lucky: Duck Confit with apple fennel slaw or Oysters! Book ‘em Danno. It’s one of those places you kind of look forward to going to for lunch each week. Currently in my top 5 for Seattle Food trucks.

Whilst chugging through the crowds at last weekend’s Mobile Food Rodeo in Fremont, I slowed to a halt when Bigfood’s oyster grill came into view. It takes more strength than I possess to pass up a(West Coast) oyster. Whereas I really prefer the bivalves raw, I was game to try the Thai Curry rendition of Bigfood’s grilled pearl pods(2 for $ 5). The curry was nice, though I could have done without all the shredded foliage(i.e. Thai basil) on top as it mostly just seemed to get caught in my throat. Final verdict was that I still prefer my oysters raw, but I think Bigfood’s grilled recipes would be great ways for the oyster-shy to get acquainted with this ocean treat. As for Bigfood’s strawberry lemonade($ 4), I would go back for again and again… fabulous!!!

My friend and I hit this joint last week for the first time. We were really impressed. The grilled flat bread is great, but! I would opt for the rice option next time, easier to eat and less likely to end up in my clevage. We both went for the Yeti. The staff was super friendly, and courteous. Slick set up boys! Bravo.

Great food, FANTASTIC catering options, and voted amongst the top 13 of food trucks in the city by Seattle Met. The bread has it’s own reputation and the contents between is moist and delicious. I have had the pork and chicken and neither disappoint. Could only eat half and the rest was enjoyed the following day… mmmm. Tyler(owner) is a riot, generous to a fault, incredibly gifted, and I 100% recommend him to cater your event, if you can book him. His crabcakes are the best I have ever had in my life, and I have been around the crabcake block a number of times. Rumor has it that two brick and mortars in the works: Pacific Raceway and the Seattle Center. NOICE.

After reading all the reviews, I had high expectations for Bigfood. Well, I can only say that the food was good, but not as good as it’s hyped up to be. The naan bread was very light and fluffy, and serves as a good base for all the topping. The rest of the food was good, but just didn’t have the bold flavors I was expecting. I tried the Sasquatch, which seemed to be the favorite among Bigfood customers, but found the pulled pork shoulder a bit dry and bland. The slaw and the blackcurrant chutney on top sounded interesting on the menu, but there wasn’t enough chutney or spice in the slaw to really make the flavors pop. I griped about the food on other social medium afterwards, and was told that I must try their food with«the sauce». I might do just that next time. Though, I’ve got to wonder, if the food must be served with copious amount of sauce(as indicated by others on the social medium I griped on), doesn’t that still mean that the food is only ok?

Had the Sequoia and it was delicious! The flat bread was similar to naan and was nicely grilled giving it great texture. The meat was well seasoned and juicy. I was quite surprised by the size of the size of the meal and could have cut it in half for two lighter lunches, but I hadn’t eaten breakfast so I ate the whole thing ;) My biggest complaint is that they only have a few choices, how about creating a weekly or rotating special? Regardless of teh selection, I will be back!

Sasquatch sighting in Redmond! …inside the Bigfood Mobile Truck! No, it’s neither the mythical creature(waiting for the angry fanboy letters for using the word mythical) nor the music festival at the Gorge, but the spicy pulled pork flat bread! If pork is not your thing, then I can promise the flat bread itself was good — it grilled with a nice char. The mango chutney helps give the acidic bite that pairs nicely with the pulled pork and the cole slaw gives the flat bread the much needed crunch. Bigfood is currently parked at Microsoft campus during the weekdays for the lunch rush and it brings a whole new definition to a quick bite — I waited no more than two minutes underneath the heat lamps outside and my order was ready.

I tried the Yeti(beef) and found it to be a little dry, the meat was lean and stringy. However, I did enjoy the sweet flatbread a lot. I recommend trying it once for yourself, but this isn’t my first choice for a food truck lunch in Seattle.

*3/19EDIT: Bigfood to open permanent kiosk at Seattle Center! One of the best food trucks in Seattle… delicious slow-cooked fusion. Had the Yeti — braised beef was v. flavorful, complemented with a piquant curried fruit and slaw, served on grilled flatbread. Look forward to trying the Sequoia(chicken with tomato chutney and cilantro sriracha cream) and Sasquatch(spicy pulled pork shoulder with green mango chutney) as well.

I ordered the Sasquatch($ 9), spicy pulled pork shoulder with green mango chutney and slaw on grilled flatbread. I also noticed Bigfood has three condiments to choose from: their«medium» sauce, their«hot» sauce, or sriracha. I tried their hot sauce this time. I enjoyed the juiciness and seasoning on the shredded pork, nothing overpowering here. It worked well with the sweetness of the mango chutney and slaw. The flatbread was grilled perfectly, just amazing grill marks while retaining that soft, pliable texture. I wouldn’t have minded just a bit more flavor and spice on the pork here. Also, the«hot» sauce was not very spicy to me. Regardless, a relatively successful dish in my eye. Bigfood brings wonderful gourmet flatbread sandwiches to the streets of Seattle! Check them out if you’re in the area!

I was stoked to see Bigfood at the Mobile Food Rodeo… but then wasn’t able to make it over to their truck, especially after I heard they ran out of the duck confit. My friend did go to the truck and said it wasn’t that good. All this to say, I went today to give it a try, not expecting all that much. Wow…was I wrong. I’ll have to send my buddy back to the truck to try it again. I had the Sasquatch, which if the meat in this flat bread sandwich was Sasquatch, I’d be hunting Sasquatches. The Sasquatch is spicy pulled pork shoulder with green mango chutney and slaw on grilled flat bread. This had amazing flavor. The pork wasn’t that spicy, so next time I’ll be adding some srichacha. I was also a little suspect of paying $ 9 for a flat bread sandwich, but there was tons of meat, chutney and slaw on the sandwich to make it well worth the $ 9. The flat bread was fluffy, yet a little crispy on the outside because of it being grilled. I highly recommend stopping by to see what the Big deal is with Bigfood. Good stuff.

I honestly am not a big fan of Indian food– Can’t handle the spice. But today I was convinced to go to big food an wow… i do not regret. I got the sequioa and wow… is all i can say… can you tell that I am literally shocked… as if I saw big foot…(O_O)… Bread was delicious! I could eat that all day long ! SO soft and warm –delicious! Chicken was marinaded perfectly! Next time I am going to ask for more of the creamy sauce. The green mild sauce they offer on the side is tangy and a super compliment to the wrap. yowza. can we say flava flav??? :) I was kind of bummed that they didn’t have the lavendar dry soda…:( THe service was cool– cool guys and the wraps were fast! They even wrapped extra for our journey back to the office. I’m glad I made the walk in the RAIN to this truck at their new location at 2nd& pine… totally worth it! Definitely will go back– rain or shine! I am a fan of the big food!!! :)

I walked to Starbucks Headquarters with a philly cheesesteak at hand, who whould’ve thought I jumped quickly onto a whole different spectrum of culinary journey just by a 10 minute walk? From United States to Indian fusion. They were out of pork and chicken. So I settled for the beef(also known as Yeti), the person kept recommending it with a ‘delicious’ remark. I have no choice but to comply. I loved the unique names given to these flatbread sandwhiches. Yeti? Sasquatch? Sequoi? I surely sighted my Yeti after a heinous wait(couldn’t wait, excitement popped my adrenaline). It cost $ 9 in total with tax. Pretty high eh? Wait till’ you see their generous portions. I got a ticket and waited for my turn to be awarded my hunted prey. This Yeti shall be in my belly! The naan bread is almost literally as big as my head(not including length of hair). It’s burnt on a few places but golden brown crusted on others. Add a little color right? In the middle, a hill pile of shredded spiced beef and thinly sliced cabbages rested singing«haleluya’s». I added their ‘hot’ and another ‘mildly hot’ sauce onto that, but an accident happened so sudden that I couldn’t undo it. The ‘hot’ sauce didn’t come out so I squeezed it harder(bad move, I know.) then a flood of their sauce came flowing through. Don’t «that’s what she said» me. It’s glorious food, you can’t pester with it’s purity! But, that’s my own fault and the food is not guilty at all. I’m so sorry, food, I have abused you so thoroughly. Believe me when I say it’s not incidental! I still devoured it like a boss, a hungry hobo to be exact. I folded that naan onto each side and made me an indian burrito. It tasted like authentic fusion cuisine done right! The beef was tender, properly spiced that it was screaming with spices. So savory, but not too salty. The juices ran everywhere, I don’t mind. The raw cabbage made me feel pretty healthy, they were crunchy. What’s interesting is that they added raisins and preserved peaches? Maybe they wanted to touch all the flavors(sweet, savory, crunchy, chewy). Kudos to you! The naan was still warm, chewy, and easily broke down– therefore tears will happen when you pick it up and roll it into a burrito. Amazing though! A rainbow of flavors and textures party in my mouth! Love the taste variety and confusion! Will be back for the Redwood(Paneer– cheese curds). Cos’ everyone knows I love me some cheese!

These guys stopped by the Amazon campus this week, and I tried… their kids meal. Heh. Honestly, I was excited to try a quesadilla-like flatbread dish, on their house made flatbread. I highly recommend any of the sandwiches that come with said bread, because it was grilled and just very slightly charred with excellent flavor and texture. The kids meal is cute, as it comes with a juice box and carrot sticks — it was a great light lunch at work. They also have dry sodas, however, and the line moved fast even though it was pretty long. I’d definitely go back more hungry and get an adult’s size sandwich someday.

I just got to experience Big Food in their SLU location. YUM! I had the Sequoia(chicken on flatbread). It’s great to see that they grill/cook the flatbread right in front of your. it’s not premade and just sitting there. That way it comes out all warm and squishy :) Their menu is pretty high tech, being a flatscreen mounted to the truck. Prices don’t include tax :(BUT they do take credit cards they even have a cute kids meal option hope to see you in our area again soo :) Don’t be like the real elusive Big Foot
