I don’t get down here very often, but when I need to rent something specific or particular, I’ll go out of my way to get it here, both cuz I love the guy who runs the place (we could stand and shoot the breeze for an hour without working at it) and because I like to know my money is staying local. Several times he’s told me he’s been expected to have to move or get the boot because of the gentrification down in SLU, but instead it seems to have helped solidify City Limits’ place in the community. He values customers and their business and will do special orders, holds, etc, for anything he can get for you. When I needed to find a copy of Oliver Stone’s TalkRadio (fairly obscure in 2009), he had it, and I got it! When it comes to a video store, I can’t really give you any higher praise than that.
Yes, a big part of the business here is adult DVDs, but if you don’t care, it won’t affect your shopping experience. If you do care, the selection is impressive and well-​maintained, and I believe it’s just about the only place you can RENT adult entertainment in the city proper.

The best thing about this place is the owner. He’s a super-​cool nice guy.
I just go in for candy or ice-​cream-​truck ice cream or pop if I have a junk-​food craving, because there’s nowhere else nearby that has anything like that.
The movie section looks fine… kinda small but respectable.
I’ve never been to the «back room» — it’s very well sheltered from the front room.
Even though it’s a bit run down, it’s not trashy or sleazy at all.

This is a terrible video store to rent movies from… unless you are looking for something along the lines of «The DaVinci Load» or «Who’s Eating Gilbert’s Gape.» The front half of the store is sparsely stocked shelves of mainstream hit movies but YOU DON’T CARE ’cause you’re here for the PORNO! And quite a selection it is too, from classic re-​releases of big-​bush 70’s and aqua-​net explosion 80’s pornos to the big-​budget features and tattoos/​piercings-​heavy «alt-​porn» of today. Also some gay/​she-​male/​midget films for those so inclined. The prices are very reasonable compared to other adult stores in the city. Small collection of erotic art books too. Be advised though; his is not a «full service» porn shop, as there are no spank-​mags, dongs, or lubes in stock.
