Harem is an awesome place to go! Not only is it a store with(very reasonably priced) beautiful pieces from different cultures. They have gorgeous décor, clothing, jewelry, art, etc. They also have Belly Dancing classes upstairs(my reason for coming here so often) which is also used as an area for art parties on certain nights. Victoria, the owner of Harem, is a really cool lady. She supports local artists by selling their items in her store and she has been belly dancing for years.

«I like your earrings.» «Oh, I love your earrings!» «Those earrings are gorgeous.» If you love my earrings, this is very likely where I got them. I get all kinds of compliments from friends, new acquaintances, and random strangers wherever I go! And while I’d like to chalk it up to my impeccable taste, I know it’s really about Victoria at Harem and her sumptuous sense of style. Harem is filled to the brim with amazing treasures imported from overseas, artwork from a rotating collection of local artists, beautiful accessories for the home(and body), and of course, the music. Curious about belly dancing music? I purchased one here for a friend solely on Victoria’s recommendation and absolutely loved it. My friend um, is not getting that cd. Sorry Suyen! So stroll on into Harem. It’s across the street from Bliss Soaps, next to the restaurant on the corner. Grab some tea, spend some time browsing. Okay, a LOT of time. And forget about your budget because there’s something for everyone. There are so many one of a kind pieces here you’re bound to fall in love with something.

I ended here because i was on a mission to find Bliss. I am so glad I did! The music took me into a dance trance. I was warlmly greeted by a sweet tiny weiner dog! Tail wagging almost shivering. then he stood oon his hind legs until I petted him. The music. mm the scarves. the lovely jewelery. The owner is a dancer. We talked about dance days and I know she knows what I am talking about when I talk about some things. I will be back. Now I know what I want for my Christmas present. dancing scarves.

Awesome little store and makeshift community center! I call it a community center because I hear that the owner often hosts events in the store, though I can only vouch for one that I’ve attended – gay night. Where else can you lounge on sofas and watch belly dancers, while sipping wine and munching on dolmas? If you’re up for you, you can join the crowd dancing to Arabic, Turkish, and Greek music after the show as well. Very fun! I hope to attend another in the future.

bought me a very pretty bracelet and got to speak to the owner who is really nice. She’s also a former belly dancer. Lots of pretty and cute trinkets, including art to look at. I highly recommend anyone to go there!

I really like this place. It has some very beautiful items, trinkets and décor. From the outside I heard the drums beating and immediately skipped inside to ask the proprietor what CD they were playing. I was disappointed and amazed at the same time to find out it was actually her playing the dumbek/durbakah. Lovely clothes from various places in the east or at least eastern inspired. The shop itself is well decorated. You can really tell that the person who put up the displays really has an eye for it. I can’t wait to go back to get some jewelry and maybe a drum for my house.

This isn’t JUST a clothing store! Check it out! Egyptian, Turkish & Middle Eastern clothes, plus goodies from everywhere. I stopped in to look for a costume for a performance. It was about 8:30PM, and they were scheduled to close at 9. Well, we were still in there close to 10, trying on all kinds of exotic stuff, playing drums, and having a great time. The owners are hospitable, helpful and the woman, VIctoria, is a helluva dumbek player and dancer. They had some amazing Turkish and Morroccan jackets, belly dancing costumes and unnamed chachkies. Its next door to Siam on Broadway.
