I fail to understand why this place isn’t packed all the time. The cocktails here are far more superior than most places in the area and the happy hour prices and selection is just divine! They have a covered open/covered patio in the back and the service is top notch. We absolutely love coming here all the time truly a treasure in the city. There isn’t a dish here that isn’t absolutely delicious!

Super happy with this place! Came here to celebrate the bachelorette party of a good friend and they put us in a huge booth by the window. Their cocktails are delicious and their food is incredibly well done. Plus it’s helpful that a lot of their food doesn’t have flour in it for GF folks like me. Their cocktail menus are adorably kept in kids books, and their checks are brought to you in wallets. Everything about this place is super well thought out, and tastefully done. From endless cucumber water to perfect sized portions with the prices to match. This place place is a hit. Not to mention, the service was on point for a Friday night.

Came here with a couple of friends on a Friday evening. Luckily we found street parking a block away. The restaurant is pretty easy to miss, we had to doubleback and find their entrance. I made a reservation for 6pm but it wasn’t very crowded when we got there. We were seated in the back, where they opened the window /roof panels and let natural light in. The inside definitely had a quirky hipster feel to it. The drink menus were encased in children’s books, which was interesting. I wish they had left the inside of the children’s book intact, I would’ve like to read some old favorites like Fox in the Sox. My table of 4 ordered a couple of dishes. Here’s what we got: Duck meatball — was ok, nothing too special House ‘spicy Merguez Sausage — delicious, but only came with two sausage links Pork Cheeks Stuffed Peppers — nice mixture of colors and flavors Oysters — highly recommend! Not slimy at all. Didn’t come with cocktail sauce, but the salt and lemon worked well Calamari — yummy delicious goodiness Pan Seared Alaskan Halibut — pretty good Overall food was decent and drinks were strong, but the the portions were smaller than I would’ve liked. I might come back again if I’m in the area, if just to try more of their seafood.

5-star for drinks and ambience! I love the old ceilings and speakeasy style of the place. I love the super interesting cocktails — as a mixology hobbyist, I get really excited when there are ingredients in drinks that I’ve never heard of, as well as new combinations of favorites. I’d definitely come back to try a few more of their cocktails. 3-star for the food. We had a trout salad that was so full of horseradish it practically made me sneeze, and covered up the trout flavor. But I appreciated the innovative spirit of the dish.

Bartenders are fantastic and take their time to make some fantastic cocktails. The menu has some interesting options to snack or dine on.

The Volunteer Park Swizzle reminds of that time in 1992 when I had two prostitutes, a large baggie of coke, a donkey, and a block of dry ice. I remember half of what happened that night, but this drink definitely stirred up those memories. Love it! Live it!

While visiting Seattle for a conference, I escaped to Capitol Hill one night to have a dinner by myself. I had the gambas, a sample of the drunkin goat cheese, and the yummy kale salad. I was hoping the gambas were a little less oily but they were still yummy and paired with some tasty chorizo regardless. I also had a lovely cocktail called the lowland livin’ as per a wonderful recommendation by my waiter. It was well-rounded and stiff, served with a block of ice and I would definitely recommend it if you like your whisky. Oh and they have happy hour food and drink specials! If I lived in the area, I would probably frequent this place fairly often. Hope to be back some day to try some more delicious bites!

We stumbled in here after Lionhead had an hour long wait. Immediately upon entering, I liked this place because of its charming décor of wood and twinkly lights. Even with all the wood though, this place can get pretty noisy with chatter. The cocktail menus were children’s book which I thought was amusing/hipster. The cocktails are on the expensive side for Seattle at $ 10+, but I enjoyed my Happy Wanderer. For dinner, we shared the charcuteria(next time I would just get the serrano ham plate), gnocchi(didn’t love the hazelnuts pairing), oysters(delicious and fresh), gambas al ajillo(great sauce with the bread), and beef skewers(full of flavor and tender). In total I paid ~$ 30. Would come here again to try more dishes and impress friends with knowing a restaurant that is fairly new to the Seattle food scene.

Came here on a whim and really enjoyed! Pros: Pleasantly surprised to find a table here on a Saturday night. Loved the décor which was cozy, warm, inviting, and provided plenty of options(bar, wooden booths, bar top tables, small/large tables in their extended dinner room). Tried the pork belly, short ribs, autumn vegetables, and croquettes and loved them all. My girlfriend really enjoyed her craft cocktails, of which there were many to choose from. Everyone we interacted with was pleasant and helpful. Cons/Suggestions: Took a bit of time for us to order our second round of drinks and receive our bill considering there were a lot of staff on the floor and it wasn’t busy. We would also recommend lightening up on the crispy rice noodles in the short rib dish.

Love Rocco’s and this place is equally nice. Same ceiling and bar design between the two restaurants; the menus are also inside old children’s books :) Good happy hour drink and food menus.

Service slow but the food was really good and the drinks are decent. The waiters and host are friendly, but it’s hard to get their attention when you want something. I had to keep asking them to refill my water. In the end, I just remained thirsty because I couldn’t get their attention. Or the other people serving wouldn’t help since they weren’t my waiter per se. They were really slow to split the check and then they split the check incorrectly. It took them another 30 minutes to fix the check. Very annoying. Would have given 4 stars if it wasn’t for this The outside area is very cute, and the menus are in a children’s book, which was interesting.

I love it here. It’s classy and intimate and I think it’s absolutely hilarious that they use children book covers part of their drink menu. From the outside, it looks like the place is tiny but after you go inside you will notice they have a cover patio out back. On a nice day, the roof can be opened up so you’re dining out under the stars. The food is delicious and the drinks are pretty strong. Perfect setting for a date or just catching up with friends.

I recently was on a date at this restaurant. We found it on Unilocal and thought, «why not try it?!» The person I was on a date with had never had tapas, so I thought I would show them what tapas was all about. First, the drinks were amazing! We both had different drinks and were both impressed. They were creative, fun, hip, and strong. Also, the food was really good! While I don’t think all of the items were traditional Spanish tapas, the things that we ordered were high quality, well thought out, and fun to eat. Our server was really friendly. I believe his name was also Roger. The atmosphere was fun and laid back. I could see myself returning and making this place one of my regular stops. Highly recommend Herb & Bitter. Go there for a date, a drink, a casual lunch or dinner with a friend. You will love it!

Four stars minus two for the service. Or lack thereof. I enjoy going to some of the little spots on this end of Broadway. They each have uniqueness to them. This place was no exception. I love how they turned this place into a little oasis. Very cute and fun. Love the outdoor patio. Beautiful ceiling! Cocktails with creative names and so on. Like: The patio ~ Beautiful! Relaxing! Chill! And so on. Drinks: they have unique drinks here. I’ve tried a few champagne based, gin based and even with bitters. Décor: dark and woody inside: bright outside! Drink menus: Children’s book! Food: Tapas style. Mussles were good. Charcuterie was nice. Calamari was pretty good too! Dislike: service. Perhaps I went on an off day but this was few weeks after they were opened. Went with my girlfriend and just so happened, one of the server turned around and accidentally dropped entire plate/bowl of mussles all over me. Broth, shells! All over me, my light color clothes and even got my long hair. Accidents do happen all the time but this was the way they handled it. Or not handled it at all. Nobody was phased by this except me and my dining companion. No apologies from the server or our server. I spent a good half hour in the bathroom getting the fishy smell/broth out of myself. Didn’t quite work. Similar thing happened to me at a different restaurant a week later.(When it rain, it pours?)Except it was a red wine on my hand and clothes by the bus boy. The experience on how the two restaurants handled this was night and day. My server came running to the bathroom with me to help: brought soda water. She was beyond apologetic, bought us a bottle of wine. And took care of my dry cleaning bill. The damage of the spill was half of what I experienced at the herb and bitter. Again, I understand that accidents happen. But its how you handled it that make a difference. Sadly, at this place, they don’t seem to care.

I love Rocco’s and was disappointed when I had the food here. Maybe because I had recently come from Spain. The tapas left more to the imagination here. Service was great! If the weather is good, they have a solid back porch area with a beautiful water fountain. Décor is definitely in line with Rocco’s style as well.

After having dinner up the block, we decided to come by here to grab a drink or two. We actually walked by this place a few times and didn’t even notice it, the sign is a little tough to see. Its very nice inside, large open windows out into the street, good sized bar with a good amount of seats, dining area with an outside patio with hanging lights. From whatever was here before, its a nice looking spot now. We sat at the bar, ordered some drinks. Bartender was quick with water and to take our drink order, so that was nice. We didnt chat much with the bartenders as they seemed pretty busy.
Menus are of story book covers, pretty cool. Then we realized this place may be the same owner’s as Rocco’s since they have story book cover menus too… confirmed that it is the same owners. !Ah ha! Nice looking bar area, with cool looking casks full of whiskey, mezcal, and a bunch of other stuff I forgot. Pretty extensive liquor shelf as well. We only stayed for a few drinks and decided to go elsewhere. Didn’t try any of the food, may have to next time. The place is nice looking, service was fine, drinks were a little on the pricey side, vibe was ok, nothing really special about it in my book, maybe I should try the food next time to see if this is a spot I would come back to.

Wonderful new place in capital hill! The inside is newly remodeled but I love love the outdoor patio area with a retractable roof and lights. It’s so cute for a nice summer night! The staff is friendly and service was great! The boast to have the best bartenders in town so I told them I liked vodka and they surprised me with a drink. I was definitely impressed! One of the best drinks I’ve ever had! The food was good! Small tapas! Charcuterie plate was good. Clams had excellent flavors. The calamari had a slight hint of curry in the batter and was really light with a chutney sauce — very unique! The goat cheese and honey. I’m going to do this next time I serve a goat cheese. Good combination! Everything came with more than enough bread! I suppose it’s a good place for drinks and small bites. But if you’re starving, the portions may be a little small.

A great addition to Capital Hills Broadway district. This once run-down establishment has transformed itself into a great hotspots for the nightlife and dining experience of Broadway. Paul one of the managers was very attentive and explained the new improved atmosphere and clientele that they are seeking for their new establishment. With a wide variety of specialty cocktails and a tapas style restaurant, it won’t belong before this new hidden gem, will surely become a hotspot among locals and visiting friends. We selected to sit in the back section, which has been newly renovated with an amazing retractable roof that is fully air-conditioned and heated for the summer time and winter. We had the calamari appetizer which was a new twist on calamari with a chutney and mint base dipping sauce. the calamari was a little salty but with the dipping sauce and the chutney made for a unique combination. a nice addition was you are greeted with a cold bottle of cucumber water and a friendly staff. I look forward to seeing what this restaurant does with this space and menu. I highly recommend you check out this new spot I am interested to see the feedback others leave. I know that I’ll be back probably more than once in the next few days.

This bar is already incredible but if you consider it’s also the former Than Bros space your mouth will drop straight to the floor. Everything from the black tin ceiling tiles to the comfy upholstered booths, antique lamps, skylights(yes, two!) to the large outdoor patio, is stunning. It’s clear that a lot of money went into this build out. And fortunately that pays off because I had two cocktails and a few different tapas and everything was great. The calamari comes out crispy, hot and fresh. The charcuterie was plentiful and the Spanish tortilla was delicious. As for drinks, there’s no messing around either. Touted as an Amaro bar, there are Amaros from all over the world. I spotted some I’ve never heard of or even seen! I’d say 30 at least. There’s also an extensive scotch selection, along with lots of premium mezcal, and so much more. It’s a super massive back bar, in fact! Shoot, they’re even barrel aging cocktails and spirits. Lots of creative experimentation. And for beer fans or people intimidated by spirits, they have Stiegel Radler on tap. Which is perfect for a sunny, hot day. If only they came in popsicle form! Will be back again. And again. And again. Truly the best addition to Broadway Ave since Witness Bar.
