The guy who complained about not getting water at Hula Hula just took the definition of «Watering Hole» a bit too literally. If you want water — do not go to Seattle’s best Tiki Bar. This place ROCKS in all respects(other than water). My wife and I took brother Larry(Tiki bar aficionado from the Bay Area) for a little welcoming libation and walked into a full tilt boogie situation. The Volcano was awesome but my personal favorite was the«Pain Killer» that took me back to the BVI’s with one sip. The Margarita Cocktail Shrimp are not to be missed but if you like Brussel Sprouts, try Restaurant Roux on Fremont Ave instead. Don’t forget to buy the birthday boy(or girl) a drink as you will immediately quadruple your know circle of friends in Seattle.

A must for Tiki bar aficionados when you are in the Seattle area. It is in a bit of an iffy area down from the Space Needle. Has a mixed clientele and has the feel of a great dive bar on the upswing. A large, dark bar area steps down into an even larger, darker table area where a muted big screen TV was showing a football game. The bar is known locally for the nightly 9pm karaōke which draws locals and tourists alike. The staff was warm and pleasant. The Tiki drink menu was limited, with about 11 or 12 choices, mostly the standards. I had a Mai Tai that was good, but not exceptional. The Blue Hawaiian was tasty, the Pina Colada was served on the rocks(?!?) and the Saturn with gin and passionfruit was probably the best drink we sampled. They have a happy hour from opening(4pm) to 6pm. $ 4 off all Tiki drinks… so unless you are big on karaōke, I suggest you visit early!

If you are looking for a fun karaōke bar in Seattle, come to Hula Hula. It was the karaōke equipment you need, a great food menu and friendly service. The location is smaller; however, is hands down a much better option then the horrible business called Ozzies also in karaōke bar business. Hula Hula is a fun place for group gatherings, karaōke and late night adventures.

I’ve been to this place a couple of times during my trip to Seattle as part of work. I think the karaōke at this place is good but their beer selection is so awful that sometimes it can be off-putting. The only decent beer they have is Manny’s Pale Ale. Everything else(particularly the IPA they have) is utter shambles. But, going there as part of a group, I wouldn’t mind going there again.

Staff has HORRIBLE attitudes and customer service. Was there with a big group(30+ people) as an after-party for a wedding. We brought in a lot of people and we were drinking — definitely helping the nightly check average. At 1:40am the karaōke host started yelling at people to «pay your tab and get the f*** out». At 1:45am the bartender started yelling at people to finish their drink or else she will«come around at take the drink and dump it out». At 1:50am the karaōke host came over as we were walking to the front door to ask if we were leaving, to which we replied yes, and he proceeded to put his hands on a friend and forcefully push him to the door while saying loudly«you need to leave, you need to leave NOW». Really? That is how you speak to and treat customers? As an out-of-towner, I and the majority of guests were not aware of the Liquor Control Board’s 2am rule, in which a bar can be fined if patrons are still drinking after 2am. I get it — its serious and we don’t want your bartenders fined. But be proactive and control your staff — you see that you have a large number of out-of-town guests — make an announcement at 130am advising that people need to physically leave the bar by 2am. Make another announcement 10 minutes later, speak to people individually. But none of this happened — it was rude and angry and physical. Completely unacceptable in a business that is about service. To be fair to management, we did speak to a manager who acknowledged that the karaōke host was out of line to put his hands on a guest. But to be honest, that just doesn’t cut it. I would not recommend going here — there are too many other options in Seattle to go where staff doesn’t think it is okay to verbally(and even physically) harass patrons.

This place was a hooot. Has the tiki thing going and karaōke every night at 9 or something. I though the bar staff was nice and I had a good time; however it gets dude broey fast up in there.

Great bartenders! Muddy is amazing and sexy! Heather is super sweet and fun! Ian is funny and awesome! The managers Joe and Jake are awesome as well! The karaōke is awesome. You don’t know if you’re at a cover band concert or karaōke. Mikey and Shan are Great KJs! This place gets super packed on the weekends. So if you’re a group either get there early or don’t complain. The food is really good and kitchen is open until midnight. Not your typical bar food. The wings are outstanding! A little pricey but its not a food cart so you pay for what you get. I highly recommend this place.

On multiple occasions the bartender has refused to serve me water. I waited in line with everyone else. I ended up cupping my hands in the bathroom sink. I will not be going back.

I want to update this review, because after posting it the assistant manager emailed me about my time at Hula Hula. Regardless of how unprofessional the bartenders seem to be, Jake seems to be on his game. I thank this establishment for their concern. Get new bartenders, other than that, this place is fun!

This place is fun to come have a drink and sing karaōke… except the drinks aren’t that great, and the karaōke queue gets ridiculously long on weekends. Show up early, get your name on the list, sing one song, and be prepared to wait all night for your name to never show up again. If you’re lucky, you’ll get 2 songs. All that said, going on weekends, you can see some superb performers. Notice I don’t say singers, but performers. Some folks are America-has-talent or The-Voice level :) May make your long wait for your turn feel like a relief, unless you feel super confident about your mad skillz: P

If you’re looking for a spot to hang out with friends and enjoy delicious drinks, great customer service and fun karaōke, this is it. They also have a great happy hour with lots of variety on their menu for only $ 5 a plate. Conveniently located in a quiet area of Lower Queen Anne and is attached to Tini Biggs. The outdoor patio is perfect for those sunny days in Seattle. Check it out.

Best Karaōke bar in seattle 7 nights a week, really great energy and a nice little stage for performances. Its made more unique by the«Tiki» theme which features various large island and fishbowl type drinks. Definitely one of my favorites in queen anne.

Very fun atmosphere here, but I could not work up the nerve to sing since people were taking it preeetty seriously. So, unless you are pretty confident in your singing or don’t care at all what other people think, maybe consider a different bar. As for the drinks, I had to have a long island re-made, which is not something I like asking bartenders to do. The girl who made it forgot the coke, so it was basically just liquor and sours(eugh.) Thankfully, I was able to flag down a different guy maybe 15 minutes later and he made it much better. Altogether, I think it’s a cute place, love the décor and the atmosphere. It’s definitely entertaining, but the drinks are iffy and I cannot bring myself to get on their stage! :/

Like others have said, Hula Hula is a serious karaōke bar. The theme is also fun though I found the volcano drink rather overpriced. Unfortunately, the system for entering songs is really confusing and convoluted. For starters, the people who write their song request on paper pretty much never get in. You really should enter it electronically. Now, they wont let you sing twice until everyone there has sang. That means you should NOT enter your friend’s song under your account. I did that and pretty much gave up my turn. If you sing a duet, consider whom to put the name under for this reason as well. Then, if a group comes in like they did on my night, you will get bumped to the bottom. Cram as many songs as you can in before large groups arrive. They want to give everyone a chance which is honorable. This means as soon as new people enter their song in, if you already sang once, you are bumped to the bottom. I don’t hate this system but the problem is, they don’t tell you so it’s super confusing as to why it’s not your turn yet. This system also doesn’t seem to encourage people to stay very long because if it’s crowded, you can basically plan on you group each singing one song and then leave. Hula Hula is ok but I continue to prefer Rock Box-style karaōke.

There was a mixture of things going on here. While I like themed bars, and the drinks off the menu were surprisingly good, this place still feel flat for me. We had a medium sized group, yet throughout the night the waitresses kept bringing us the wrong drinks or stuff we never ordered. The crowd is a mix of annoying semi drunk people and after the first hour I was ready to bust out home. Call me a prude here, but I also wasn’t a fan of random porn coming on the back screen while people were singing? I don’t get the purpose of this at all other than being offensive and tacky.

Hula Hula is for sure a serious karaōke bar! Karaōke begins at 9pm every night, and really starts to heat up by 10. Whether you sing or not, the entertainment value of the décor and karaōke is worth a visit. LCD screens are located throughout the space just in case you aren’t able to sit close enough to the action. Patrons perform everything from Rammstein(lyrics all in German, of course) to Backstreet Boys. I have heard some truly incredible professional singers here, and would say that even the average singer is well above just decent. It’s located in a quiet neighborhood on the outskirts of Lower Queen Anne and is attached to Tini Biggs. Outdoor patio to get some fresh air and a smoke and never any door covers. This is usually the first place I take out-of-town visitors to start off or end the night. Weekends definitely get a little more rowdy — I would recommend checking it out at least once on a weeknight as better(more sober?) singers do tend to show up more on the quieter nights.

After a quiet evening of dinner and drinks during my whirlwind 24 hour visit from Portland(including drive time). I was I the mood for somewhere loud, fun and divey. Enter Hula Hula, it was packed at 11ish on a Friday, but I kept it quick by buying a round of drinks after working to get belly up at the bar rather than trying to divvy up. There were no open tables, so we stood on the dance floor and watched people sing karaōke until a table opened up. The KJ was sassy and it was clear I was not going to be able to sing that night. It was quite a mix of all kinds of people drinking Hawaiian styled drinks and having a fabulous time. It reminded me a bit of an overgrown frat party from my college days. At the end of the night a Ke$hia song was sung here by a patron and the lyrics were just right… There’s a place downtown, Where the freaks all come around. It’s a hole in the wall. It’s a dirty free for all. When the dark Of the night comes around. That’s the time, That the animal comes alive. Looking for Something wild. There’s a place I know If you’re looking for a show. Where they go hardcore And there’s glitter on the floor. Lose your mind. Lose it now. Lose your clothes In the crowd. We’re delirious. Tear it down ’Til the sun comes back around. I’ll be back.
