This is some of the best Chinese food in town. Service is friendly and quick. we tried noodles, green beans, crab rangoon, spring rolls, hot and sour soup and a chicken dish. right next door to Oak Tree cinema. don’t miss this great place.

I think Mandarin gate is my favorite Chinese restaurant its always good quality. it’s always a fair price and it never seems greasy or bland or overcooked. I love them!

I had the lunch special. It was ok. Nothing out of ordinary but nothing impressive either.

ordered beef and brocolli for delivery from here today and some crab wontons. as soon as I took the first bite of the beef and brocolli, I had to add salt to my food. the sauce, the meat, everything is absolutely bland and flavorless. the brocolli is very obviously flash cooked, frozen brocolli. at this point I’m just eating it because I spent money on it and am hungry. The crab wontons came with some weird, almost cocktail type sauce and a strong mustard, neither of which compliment the wontons very well; I’d rather have some sweet and sour sauce with it, which is what most places provide. was going to give 2 stars for the delivery being somewhat quick, but the food is just too bad. ick. lesson learned! Update: not only was my meal disappointing, but it gave me an awful stomach ache for hours afterward. So I guess eat here if you want to feel like you’re chewing flavorless mush followed by cramps and frequent bathroom trips for the rest of the day.

Got delivery from this place off of Eat24. I ordered Mongolian beef but they gave me fried rice instead. I really liked the hot and sour soup but was not so impressed with the sweet and sour chicken. They also gave me a free liter of coke which was nice of them but I didn’t really want it. Overall was an okay experience but I don’t think I’ll be ordering from them again.

I been going here for 25 years and pan fried noodles have been consistently good until today. They were gummy and tasteless. They have lost our family. Too bad.

Comfort food for sure, but I’m also convinced their hot and sour soup has healing properties. For lunch, try the pepper steak. Maybe not the greatest Chinese food in the city, but certainly my favorite north of the International District! Plus they have lunch deals all week long, including Sunday.

I really like this place, despite hearing bad things. It’s tasty American style Chinese food delivery, but not too greasy that I regret eating it! I give 4 instead of 5 stars because they didn’t remember my marginally important special requests. I’m sorta glad the accident was made because I didn’t care until half of it was gone, cause it was tasty! The fact is that: it’s delivery! And my food is not just warm when it gets to me, it’s good and hot when it’s delivered. It’s a hard thing to do, and I tip extra and keep coming back when it’s done! I think Seattle-ites maybe want some vegan fancy thing, or super authentic chinatown-esque food. This place is more American-style, and it’s a good thing when done well. It’s not a healthy fancy place, as much as I love that sort of thing. However, I also love my beefy short ribs appetizer & the chefs duck special! It’s the perfect balance of sweet(& suprisingly tender) meat and tangy juicy sauce.

Place looks great, but the food was the worst food I’ve –ever– had at a restaurant. Mapo tofu was completely flavorless. The mushrooms tasted revoltingly bitter. The meat consistency was overall a gelatinous mush. The vegetables and rice were alright. We filled up on rice(which you have to pay for separately), paid, and left a whole table full of barely-touched food behind. Nobody wanted to take it home. I wonder what the heck was wrong with the cook that day. I can’t assume they would hire someone that cooks like that all the time.

Love this place! Great service and good times! Karaōke has over 60,000 songs and host are the best in town. I always meet up with the girls for cheap drinks and awesome entertainment.

Ordered almond fried chicken. The chicken was… crunchy? And I’m not talking about the fried part. I’m talking about the chicken meat itself. It wasn’t tendon. It wasn’t even a typical texture of being dried out or just really tough, it was just unnatural and wrong… Also the reason for the 1 star rating as opposed to two stars, which I would have otherwise given. The sauce was pretty standard of a cheap Chinese place, just pretty meh overall. Also got the garlic chicken. It was incredibly bland. Very little garlic flavor at all. Didn’t even keep our left overs, just threw them away. The dumplings were the best part of the meal, but we didn’t finish those either. After they cooled down a bit they were quite a bit less appetizing.

The worst Chinese food to ever pass my lips! Absolutely terrible. Everything was the flavor of grease. I had chicken fried rice, disgusting. The almond chicken, man where to start, over fried rock hard chicken with this weird yellow sauce that I wanted to wash my mouth out with soap after I tasted it. It was so annoying to hand over my credit card to pay for this garbage I didn’t eat or even bother to box up! Save yourself the stomach ache, time and money!

Our family of seven after a long day of work and play decided to treat ourselves to take out. The kids wanted chinese so we were going to order from our usual place when my husband reminded me that we had just received the menu for the New Mandarin Gate restaurant. Of course the restaurant itself wasn’t new but the menu implied that the ownership and food was different so we decided to try it out. Mind you this place at one time was pretty good but had gone downhill many many years ago and I was hoping they had finally cleaned up their act and made good food again. Unfortunately what we got was some of the most disgusting food I have ever eaten. The chef’s special pan fried noodles tasted like boxed noodles with some soy sauce added, the greens beans were oily and the sauce had congealed into a gloopy mess and the fried rice was so dry and so flavorless it was inedible. The potstickers were ok but I can almost guarantee that they are store bought and then reheated. All this after waiting an hour and a half for the food and a phone call, and the food arriving cold. Let me say that there is nothing New about this place and if anything they have gotten worse! I am so embarrassed that I fell for their stupid mailer and wasted good money on something so awful and seriously disgusting. Stay away from this nasty place.

Met friends here before going to the theater. We ordered Family-style dinner: soup, two appetizers, rice, and each of us got to order our own entrée, about $ 13. per person. Pretty quick service, although our waiter was stretched thin between tables, he kept his cool and kept us laughing. Kind of old-lady décor with lots of silk flowers, but dining area was clean and smelled good. Basic Americanized Chinese food, I do have to say the vegetables in my entrée were very fresh and tasty. Hot mustard was really good. Nothing really exceptional, but hot food was hot, not too greasy, we ate until full+, and there was lots of leftovers. Fortune cookie and pay the bill and off to the movie. 3 stars for the food, one extra star for our waiter. We get down to this theater once a year for a BDR motorcycle film, and we’ve already planned to meet here next year.

Went to see a movie and wanted a quick bite and drink, so we stopped here. Walked in and the guy behind the counter said nothing. Boyfriend said«Two, please.» Counter guy(CG) sat us at a table and poured us water and still said absolutely nothing. Didn’t really register with me til after we left that that whole exchange was completely silent. Interior is eerily reminiscent of a funeral home. That’s not even taking into account that the place was filled with elderly people. It’s just decorated like a cheap funeral home. Descriptions of «brown sauce» and«white sauce» fill the very simple menu, and I came to the conclusion that it would either be a completely amazing hidden gem, or we’d get food poisoning. We didn’t get to find out because we sat waiting to order for over ten minutes(CG was also order-taker) and then just walked out.

The sweet and sour shrimp was delicious. I think I counted 10 or 12 large shrimp in there which was great. Boyfriend got curry chicken and asked for broccoli, carrots and onions to be the only vegetables and he said it was delicious. He didn’t like the beef with broccoli though because he said he had red sauce and didn’t like the taste. We order a 2 liter Diet Pepsi and for some reason on Eat24 it said we got a free cola too. Unfortunately we got a 2 liter Coke and a 2 liter Western Family Lemon Lime.

I get the Lunch Special 2 or 3 days a week. It is the BEST deal around. You get a man dish. rice/fried rice. soup and a spring roll or 2 rangoon. ALL for $ 6.00 — go to Oaktree Teriyaki — $ 10.00 go to Qudoba — $ 12.00 go to BurgerMaster — $ 13.00 The food is AWESOME. The old guy at the counter is funny. The bathrooms smell great because all you smell when you walk in is urinal cakes. I only get to take out — the dining room looks very sticky… like she-lobe would take you and you never leave. still getting lunch though — Mongolian Beef 2 stars, Fried rice hot and sour soup and a Spring Roll along with a fortune cookie CANNOT be BEAT!

in the 6 or 7 years I lived in North Seattle, I have never stepped into the restaurant so my review is based entirely upon having delivery to my townhouse. Most of the time, I’m starving or still half drunk from going out the night before. By the time I wake up, it’s usually lunchtime. it’s pretty generic chinese food, not memorable, not all that tasty but it arrives hot and fairly quick. The driver has always been friendly and they have NEVER effed up my order. So if you’re looking for something to fill your stomach and are half-drunk, this is the place for you. :-) And it’s fairly cheap as well.

I’ve only had delivery. It took about 40 minutes from Oak Tree Village to Green Lake. Eat here if you’re broke and have no tastebuds. I’d say the only thing that was passable was the fortune cookie, but I think even that was a tad on the stale side. Crab rangoons are disgusting. They taste like the kitchen ran out of normal cream cheese and so some joker stuffed the rest with vanilla or some sweetened cream cheese. GROSS. Won ton soup was edible, but so salty even soy sauce didn’t taste salty after. I’m the kind of person who salts THEN tastes, so that’s really saying something. It was greasy, but props for the pork bits and egg strips. Steamed pork dumplings are okay. The sauce they came with was also okay. Kung Bao Chicken was not hot at all. I even ate that pepper. How do you make a pepper unspicy? I was so delighted when I saw that after delivery charge, two lunch special(soup, rice, appetizer) and the order of dumplings only came out to 21.00 and change. Now I understand why the prices are so good– the food is so bad. **Edited– I’ve never had an MSG reaction. I think I am having one now. It is awful. Don’t eat here! I am sad to admit I’d be willing to come back for karaōke and drinks ONLY. Gotta go lie down now…
