Awe what fun! I brought my mom here for her birthday last year and she had a blast! First: you have to make reservation. They have two seatins: 5:30 pm or 8 pm and for good reason. You get to sit on the floor/cute couches! Get plentiful of food to share for around $ 19! Like a solid five courses! And get to dance with the belly dancers for fun! What’s not to love! Seriously fun! And my mom actually had a blast dancing with the belly dancer. Yea she’s cool! Food~ delicious! You get so much food for under $ 20. Cocktails are not the best but they have a rather reasonable wine list. You choose your main dish and get to share the side dishes! That doughy pillowy thing with mince meat and powder sugar on top is just amazing! You can get it with fried eggs as well if you don’t want the meat! A ton of bread, salads and dessert. The chicken dish was delicious as well their lamb tagine. So much food you’ll eat even though its a family style restaurant! The service was good. They were very busy at the front and the back was booked for a large party when we went. It was a little hard to get the attention of our server but she was nice. And the belly dancer was super nice! She came around us, took us out of our seats and even taught us a few moves. It’s like a party in a tent! Except you’re right smack in the city in belltown. Not sure if it would be as fun without my mom but I had a blast here. And she loved it! I’ll definitely go back for the low key nights when I want lots of food, cute ambiance and shake my hips a little!

The food is pretty weird and tasted really bad. I did not like the food at all. Everything was sweet. Two kinds of chicken curry were served and they are too sweet to eat. It seemed I am eating dessert. The actual dessert was less sweeter and smelt like face cream. The tea was also had the smell of a new shoe. All these cost 21.5. It is not worthy to spend that amount of money eating crap. I would give 0 for food. I have given two because of the environment. If you want to experience Moroccan restaurant then go there for once but don’t go there for food.

I came here on a Thursday night around 7:30PM with a big group of people. My friend had a table reserved for 7 people, but 9 people ended up going. We still managed to fit at their larger table. The only problem I had with the table was sitting comfortably because my legs are so long(not to mention, I was wearing heels) – but I thought«hey, this is a cultural experience, suck it up.» Upon entering the place, you will immediately get a feel of a Moroccan culture. From the restaurant’s interior design, to the waitress’s uniform. Once seated, we were each given a towel and a glass of water. «So,» I thought, «they use towels as napkins?» Little did I know that we were all going to get our hands washed prior to eating our dinner! I thought that was a different experience, but I liked it! We were then given lentil soup, followed by bread with salad. Just as we thought our entrée was coming, we were given another dish, sort of like a Shepards Pie but with a flaky top crust like of a croissant. This is also topped with powdered sugar, so you get both sweet and savory. I also would like to add that everything was eaten with our hands except our entrée. As for my entrée, I ordered the Tangine Spicy Lamb. My plate was soupy compared to others at the table. I love soup, so I enjoyed mine! I know I’m Asian, but I’m not into too much spicy food. I thought my food was perfect, but another person who ordered the same thing as me thought they couldn’t taste the spice at all. I also ordered the Turkish coffee, because who needs sleep on a work night right? I have never tried Turkish Coffee before, but this I enjoyed very much! It was served in a tiny espresso cup(so you know I was pretty wired the rest of the night), with no cream, but with sugar. It was the most perfect coffee I’ve ever had – I kid you not! At the end of our meal, we washed our hands again and was given this special oil for our hands. We were also given tea which was poured super high from the tea cups! I was super impressed! Oh, and coconut pudding to pair with our tea! If you’re ever down for something new for your tongue, I suggest checking this place out! Unfortunately, there wasn’t any belly dancers when we came in, but it’d be cool to check out their schedule for the next time I come back!

Overall — pretty tasty, but service was an issue. Reservations for 10 on a Tuesday early evening were accommodated with no problem. The issue was that here was only one waitress on duty for the entire restaurant. This wasn’t her fault, but should have been addressed by management helping out rather than just running her ragged and having reduced quality in service. At a restaurant where you are paying for the experience, this is a big deal. The two kids with us were thrilled at the handwashing, but were really confused when they didn’t get any plates or utensils — it was really fun to watch. Food — 3.5÷5: We elected to have the set menu and share to make it easy. Some of the main dishes were very flavorful and rich, while others seemed to be genericized versions of Moroccan with only a small hint of the flavors that we were craving. All of the meat dishes were very tender. The chicken bastilla(ground chicken and spices in a phyillo dough crust covered with powdered sugar and cinnamon) was a huge hit and a fun mess. The salad was wonderfully fresh and tangy, and the soup was ok.

One of the best restaurants I have been into by far. They deviate from the norm in a good way. It was very traditional and it felt like I had entered a new world. Truly an experience. The food was good. It wasn’t mind blowing but probably because it was my first time trying Moroccan food! Service great. Only downside is they didn’t have the belly dancers today :((( Bill: $ 30 for five course meal = worth. And you know it’s real if a college student says it(broke)

Lamb is the reason we love to come here. If you want to experience different dining in our modern world just bring friends over, group of people is recommended. Kids friendly but mostly we come adults without kids. We have been one in Portland, Or and theirs one is as good as this. Recommend to visit this place.

It was my first time ever at a Moroccan cuisine. Thanks to a Groupon deal, I had an awesome experience. This place is located right on the corner and it’s a little hard to find street parking. I was lucky enough to find a nearby spot after driving around a few times. When you enter the restaurant, the inside looks like you’re in a tent. Which is very cool. You will be seated and given menus. From the menu, you would choose one dinner item. I was very confused and thought it was a set menu. I had the lamb and it was very good. Customer service was excellent. Making sure we had bread and our cups were full. The rose water hand rinse, smells amazing! I love rose water! Definitely an enjoyable experience for anyone that has never had Moroccan food.

I’ve been to Marrakesh before a few years ago and had good memories… this time I found a Groupon and decided to take a few friends out. Making a reservation was no problem. We got there at 7pm and got seated right away. We asked if we can have a corner table so we can be more comfortable and we were refused… instead they seated us in a different section. And the whole time we were there the corner table remained unoccupied. So why couldn’t we sit there?! So apparently we couldn’t share our food. And I wasn’t quite sure as to why we can’t do that. Our server instead of being nice and explain it to us got mad/frustrated. So he started complaining to the manager right in front of us… we had to watch him complain to the manager and throw his hands up in the air and say«You talk to them!» At this point we are not feeling welcomed at all. The manager comes up and I ask if we can share our food… his reply: NO you can’t share! You can complain to Groupon about it.” Okay, thank you for being rude and making this an even worse experience than it already is… We stayed, ordered our food… and the whole time the server was ignoring us, other people had to serve our table and we didn’t even get our water refilled. Also, during checkout they tried to charge us more. Overall it was a very bad experience. No wonder they have to use Groupon to attract customers.

Great food and ambiance. We came here on a Groupon and ordered the Lamb Tagine, which was really tasty and has an excellent sauce. Eating with your hands is the traditional way to eat Moroccan food and it’s practiced here. If you want to be really traditional, you’re only supposed to eat with your right hand and only use your left hand for passing food to others. The ambiance is great — they had a belly dancer and the interior is made up to look like a test. Highly recommend.

Just went there two days ago. I haven’t been to a Moroccan restaurant in years. I was VERY happy with the food, the atmosphere, and the service. My only«complaint» is the salmon I ordered came with a sauce I didn’t like, my fault, I didn’t make the right choice. Otherwise the food was great and I thoroughly enjoyed myself. I was there very early on a Thursday evening(5:00pm) and there was no belly dancing, darn it. The waiter was from Marrakesh and was excellent. At the next table was a young woman who happened to be from Morocco so I asked her what she thought of the food. She loved it and is planning to come back with her Moroccan friends, so it must be good.

We both really enjoyed our evening, both are VERY picky and loved it all! Great experience, and yes, it might take a bit of time to get seated(you can’t make people just leave!) and the service is slow. On purpose. Enjoy the experience and don’t rush it. Not the sort of place to rush, sit back, enjoy. We used a groupon gave as a gift, probably one of the last ones they will see unless they do another deal. Great service, food was amazing(and I run a kitchen.) Well seasoned, fresh and abundant. We will go back. First groupon we have used in some time we were happy with.

A friend of mine and I had no idea what to expect and we were pleasantly surprised at the amazing food, service, and ambiance! We had never had Moroccan food before and came here on no recommendation or anything, didn’t even check Unilocal. It was such a great experience! The service was fantastic, the food was delicious, and the atmosphere was cozy and fun. Tip– When in Rome… You may see people eating with forks, but just go for it and use your fingers!

I’ll start off with my worst criticism: good luck finding the entrance. You probably already used your searching skills for the day trying to not get gouged for nearby parking and you probably could use a nap. Luckily, when you enter Marrakesh, you are greeted with blankets/towels and pillows just for you! You go there with some mates or a date(come on, show them you’re cultured and fun), and you get a five course meal. I wouldn’t call it a meal if I had the choice(yes, I’m aware I had that choice earlier in this review, shutup), I’d call it a five course experience. The food ranges from delicious and amazing to «yeah, that was okay I guess,» so I knocked off a star. But at the end of the day, you get a friendly man to wash all of your hands from a kettle, you get the best damn bread and salad in the world, you get some refreshing tea, and you might even get a decent entrée(their fish is delicious in my experience). All of this while you sit around a table on pillows and blankets in a culture tent with belly dancers and friendly staff. Come on out to Marrakesh. You won’t think it’s perfect, but you’ll have a damn good time and will remember it.

If you are going there to watch belly dancing, make sure you call and check with them if the belly dancer’s performing when you are there. You can either choose to eat the 5 course meal or you can go for al-a-carte. Me and my friends went with the 5 course meal and regretted taking it. We should have gone for the al-a-carte.

Best service and food in Seattle! I can’t even begin to explain how great this place is. If you haven’t been here yet, you should try it. Every dish and drink they have has flavors that explode amazingness and the waitstaff is extremely friendly, helpful, and paced perfectly.

From the outside, Marrakesh doesn’t look like much: it’s an unassuming space with no visible windows and a faded exterior. Who ever knew that such a fantastic dining experience existed inside those walls, right? We came here on a Groupon, but the standard price for the five course meal is $ 20 a person, which is totally reasonable given the quality and size of the portions. You sit on the floor, wash your hands using a regal, portable basin, and eat with your hands – don’t let the experience scare you! The meal starts out with a lentil soup, and is followed by a delicious Moroccan salad. You get unlimited bread to mop up the salad and dip. The third course, B’stilla Royale, was my absolute favourite: phyllo dough filled with chicken, egg and almond, with caster sugar and cinnamon sprinkled atop. I thought it was the perfect marriage between sweet and savoury. For my entrée, I got the lamb tagine with eggplant. The meat was very flavourful, soft and tender – just the way lamb should be. The last course was dessert, comprising sweet Moroccan mint tea and a coconut-almond pudding. Those five courses had me completely stuffed. The wild part was that every single course was delicious! If you’ve never tried Moroccan food before, gather your friends and head down here for a memorable experience.

Great date with mom today! Love the exotic décor, music, and super friendly staff. My 3rd or 4th time here. I did call in a few days prior to see what time the belly dancer starts on Fridays, they said at 7pm. Came in just before 7, but the dancer didn’t start till 8:20pm. I’m glad we stayed a little late longer so my mom got to see belly dancing for the first time. Food is always pretty consistent, but I’d like just a bit more salt to it. Everything arrived promptly one after the other, and the waiters/waitresses are very accommodating and personable. Will be back here again to try other dishes.

This place is a pure, fun experience! Don’t let the outside intimidate you as once you open the door it’s like you have traveled to a different country. Sitting low on couches and settees you begin the meal by holding your hands out for a pour-over wash. The ambiance is exotic with color all around. I thought the food was fantastic but then I like different flavors and textures. Sweet and savory, lamb, rabbit etc. I loved it all. I highly recommend ordering the Entire Dinner option — that way you get the entire experience from the hand washing, bread, soup, different meat and vegetable dishes and even dessert and mint-sweetened tea. Also, do not be tempted to eat with fork and plate. Do it the traditional way of eating all with your right hand — so fun and that’s what they expect. They provide towels and we made a huge mess but it was great!

The experience is one everyone should try at least once. The wait staff were pesronable, friendly, and kind. I was disappointed that there was not belly dancing as advertised on Wednesdays. The five course meal was very worth the value, full of flavor!
