Pretty good place for lunch, wait wasn’t that bad, but it wasn’t quick either. Definitely worth it the extra walk from work.

It’s so hard to judge new food that’s exotic to you, isn’t it? I’m always tempted to stick a 5 to any new flavor that hits my palate — it’s one of my favorite experiences in the world. Which is why it pains me to give a mediocre 2 to Mesob. The food is mostly great… mostly. Had the small beef stew for $ 8. However, it arrived with only a third of the curry being Beef. The last two thirds were vegetarian curries that were unmentioned on the menu — that’s an issue; when I order beef stew, I expect beef stew. On top of that, the Injera, or Ethiopian bread, was incredibly sour due to the vinaigrette from the salad running everywhere. Granted, Injera is a sourdough flatbread, but it shouldn’t be anywhere close to the point of unappetizing. Here’s why it pains me: the beef stew portion was beyond delicious, especially when paired with non-vinaigrette tainted Injera. I loved it. It could have been so good. Price, okay. $ 8 is okay for a novelty, rare cuisine like this. But most of my portion was not the good stuff, it was stuff I didn’t order. If it comes with a bunch of filler curries, at least mention that on the menu! Salad meh, wait time meh, super-sour Injera very meh. Never had Ethiopian food, and want to give this place a shot? Don’t go out of your way to come here. Seattle, especially south Seattle, is amazingly full of Ethiopian restaurants, which will give you much better bang for your buck. If it’s parked outside your work or is otherwise too convenient to pass up — get a large. Better value for your money, and the salad is separated into it’s own pocket and won’t mess up your Injera. I appreciate the experience, but I doubt Mesob will make it very long in a town packed with so many other Ethiopian options.

Love it. Really friendly staff and they make the choosing simple by offering a combo of ALLTHEMEATS! My favourite is the Beef Tibbs though, but I love it all! I reallly should try the vegetarian platter one of these days. Can’t go wrong

In South Lake Union on a Thursday and if you are in mood for having something different for lunch — then head on over to Mesob food truck to get you Ethiopian food fix. The truck is usually parked in the lot on Westlake and Lenora. They get high points on food, convenience, and service. For food I ordered the the vegetarian options 2 lentil curries served with the injera bread. They also have chicken and beef options for non vegetarians. The curries were spicy and flavorful. The heat was just the right level. The portion size was good and comes with a side of salad. Even without the side I was full by the end of the meal. Their service is friendly with the server striking up some conversation with most of his customers. The service is fast and is a definite positive when compared to the long wait times at other food carts. The good thing is that the quick service does not come at the expense of quality.

I got the lentil stew, vegetarians must try! Very similar to Indian Dal. It was spicy and very flavorful. You get two kinds of lentils, red and yellow ones. The red ones almost have a meaty feel to them. The injera i got although good, was a little cold. The salad was average, just some lettuce with a bit shredded carrot and tomatoes. I don’t have red meat so I wish they had options with chicken. Despite the above mentioned quirks, the meal was very good and the portions were pretty big. Will definitely visit again!

Ethiopian food in Bellevue, hell yeah! I ordered the beef stew; but I think I actually got a mixed plate of the beef stew and the spicy beef, which was perfect in a Goldilocks kind of way(just the right level of spice on average). Solid preparation; decent-sized portion, good quality meat; plenty of injera; fast service. The salad is pretty terrible, but easily ignored. Overall, 3.5 stars for the food, and a bump for convenience and location.

This review is based on my lunch today at MESOB. I had the lentils and they were delicious! It comes with two rolls of injere, one injere at the bottom(on top of which the entrée sits), a side of yellow lentils and a side of salad(with options of three dressings). The lentils were flavorful and not spicy at all, the injera at the bottom soaks all the lentils just like when you eat at a sit down restaurant. The service was nice and our food came quite quickly. $ 10ish for the meal, I was not disappointed and if I lived here, would go back. My colleague had the beef with tibs and she loved her meal too.

Awesome customer service… even heard the guy serving try to comp a free drink to a customer that was waiting too long. I was so excited for the food, ordered the tibs. The injera was great, but the meat was so dry! It smells so good too… yet the tibs was very disappointing. And why did I pay $ 10 for such a small amount of dry tibs, only to also be disappointed by the so called soggy salad taking up half my plate. I can get salad anywhere… I came for the Ethiopian food. If you charge $ 10 for about a palm of Ethiopian food, shouldn’t it be delectable?
