Seattle is going to need to stop having such wonderful food, because my profile is very 5 star heavy as of late. Although I suppose that is a price I am willing to pay for such great variety! I stupidly came in here after taking my out of town sisters to lunch, so I wasn’t very hungry and shared a salmon and chicken combo. I have NOIDEA how the rest of our party finished their food. THEREWASSOMUCH, even splitting! My BF is never full, and he seemed completely happy with his share of our meal. This is teppanyaki at it’s finest– chef tricks, and course(?) after course of food cooked right before your eyes. I think there was rice(we upgraded to fried), soup, salad, chicken, salmon, and noodles. For $ 30. That fed two of us. AMAZING. We also tried the gyoza and edamame, which were great price points and delicious. Not that edamame is hard to do. The hot sake is a perfect winter accompaniment, and since my brain is small and easy to fool I always feel like I am getting so many servings from the tiny cups. Service was attentive. Parking was easy here, but kind of dicey in terms of safety, so just keep that in mind.

The food here was mild at best. The lunch special sign is alluring. I would say I think I have had better food elsewhere. The food here is really basic and if you are into basic foods this place is for you. I’ve eaten here twice now and I like going because the waitress seems very nice. It is definitely an alternative to the other places. It’s just up to you if you want to try something different or simple. Don’t really know what i’m saying, Ill probably past this place up because I have had better.

Feeling like yummy teppanyaki the husband and I ventured over to Mikado in the International district. The restaurant was completely empty when we arrived and during our entire meal which we loved! It felt like a private dining experience and we were very well taken care of by our waitress as well as our chef. We started off with the hamachi roll for an appetizer and it was delicious! I ordered the shrimp and scallops combination with miso soup sans tofu and fried rice. The hubby ordered the filet mignon and chicken combination with the tori soup and steamed rice. Both dishes also came with a salad and ginger dressing. Everything from the soup to the veggies to the seafood to the meat was scrumptious, hit the spot and was plentiful. There was no way we could finish everything. The restaurant has a sushi bar area, regular seating and then seating for teppanyaki. It can be a bit pricey but the food, quality and quantity as well as fresh sushi and drinks makes it well worth date night. Honestly $ 71 with tax did not seem bad at all for everything we had. We will be back.

Great place for a family dinner. Our group of nine dined in at about 8:00 and were very impressed with the food and the performance. I ordered the salmon hibachi, and other members of the party ordered scallops, steak, lobster tail and chicken. Most of us got the fried rice instead of steamed for the extra $ 2.50 and we all devoured it. It added up to $ 200+ which is not surprising for hibachi, but it would’ve been more expensive at Benihana. The restaurant was very clean and the server and chef were really friendly. There was only one waitress who maintained all three parties that were there(including us) so our soups and salads were a bit of a wait, but she kept our waters topped off and checked in the perfect amount. I took half of my dinner home and it was just as good the next day!

This is a fun hidden gem! It’s great for kids and would be perfect for large groups of people.(think birthday celebrations!) The food was good and the show even better! Can’t wait to go back.

Stopped by for weekend lunch as ID was packed — very easy parking in the back of the restaurant was attractive. Ordered chicken teriyaki and gyoza combo — nice volume and the teriyaki sauce was just right in sweetness(not too sweet) — salad dressing was a nice onion and maybe anchovy mix that I liked a lot. We also had nabeyaki udon — broth was standard and overall it was good — nice touch they out the tempura shrimp on the side so it wouldn’t get soggy too soon. Overall good was fresh and good — Id be interested in coming back to try the teppanyaki for dinner! UPDATE: Came back for dinner and glad that I did! The teppanyaki combos were excellent — seafood was fresh and the filet mignon was very very tender. On top of that the cook’s table performance was fun. Overall excellent value for the quality and quantity. Bumping up to 4 stars!

So glad my new friend Bob introduced me to this Best Kept Seattle Secret! For the price and the food, this place should have been busier. The table chef was entertaining and generous and the waitress Kim is so attentive and genuinely happy. I had the filet mignon and scallops which were cooked a true medium rare for perfect texture and flavor. Sauces were perfect, though food was quite flavorful on its own, and not over salted or spiced. I even enjoyed ginger dressing as it is not overpowering. Definitely opt for the fried rice made in front of you too — worth it! Free parking lot helps get you there.

Although the location of this restaurant is in an off area, right on Rainer Avenue, and the building is a little older don’t let it fool you. My boyfriend and I went in here for dinner tonight and we were the only two there. The staff was very friendly and attentive to serving us. Compared to Benihana’s or any other Japanese steakhouse the pricing is incomparable it was $ 19 for chicken and shrimp and a $ 2.50 add on for fried rice. If you would have gone to other places it would have run up $ 30+. The food portions were large and very flavorful. I will be going back here again soon!

First time trying it. Least to say, I love it. Lots of food, for a good price. Its definitely a more chiller spot than Benihannas, but hey, theres parking, no wait, and the workers there were even funny! I sure cant complain. Ive always wanted to try this place out, and for a friends bday, a great excuse for it! I had the chicken and shrimp combo for $ 19. Came with soup, salad, rice, veggies, and also noodles. Lots to eat. It was very tasteful! All in all, everyone left happy and full !! I would definitely come back and try the other items on. the menu as well!

Pretty good, another restaurant we wanted to go to was closed. We stopped in here because we were so hungry. Pleasantly surprised, clean, good service and like I said the food was pretty good. Id like to come back for sushi since we got stir fry. They were also accommodating to us since we have a little one.

Great food and entertainment. We had a good time and went there for my birthday. It was not crowded at all. Not too loud and smoky. The filet and shrimp was good.

I’m surprised that this place isn’t busier. My wife, boys and I came here this Tuesday evening. I ordered the sink or swim(land and sea). It comes with a soup and salad, plus the mains and fried rice. It’s a small charge of $ 2.50 above what plain steamed rice would be. The chef was very good, and friendly. I would say he was better than any chef we have had at Benihana’s. If I am ever in Seattle on vacation again, and in the area. I will definitely come back. The vegetables that accompanied dinner consisted of zucchini, onions, carrots, and broccoli. Oh yeah, the waitress was very efficient and friendly as well.

It was ok. First thing I noticed when I walked in was a cat pee smell… maybe they use ammonia to clean, or it’s just that it’s an older building. Kindda kills the appetite when I’m reminded of the neighborhood cat lady’s house, though. Place was empty when I go there, and only one other group came in the whole time I was dining — granted I went about 9pm on a weekday night, so that had a lot to do with it. At least the service was friendly and attentive. It’s nicely decorated, and they were playing Utada Hikaru songs at enough volume to just keep the atmosphere. I didn’t opt for a hibachi table, so I can’t comment on that, though I heard(but couldn’t see) the other group and it seems a lively, enthusiastic performance. I ordered a grilled salmon dish. The salmon tasted like it was frozen, not fresh! That was disappointing, especially for $ 17. I might come back to try the(sushi?) buffet, or the hibachi, but it’s not on the top of my list.

We found this location when Benihana was booked for the night and we really wanted hibachi grill food. We are SO glad to find this treasure. Very hidden from the main road it is certainly no uppity over prices Benihana! Food is great and portions are VERY fair! We had the chicken and fried rice and kids had shrimp with fried rice. The soup/salad, main meal and veggies were all cooked perfectly and seasoned on point! The presentation was fun and the atmosphere was great because it wasn’t extremely loud or crowded like the big places. We came on a Saturday evening around 6pm and it was perfect. Kids loved the show and we loved the price and service. We’ve been back multiple times since our first visit. Highly recommended if your willing to take a chance on a small place. PS: parking is limited

Took the family here after reading all the reviews on the place and it was pretty slow on a Sunday night but the food was delicious, the fried rice was great, we went with filet mignon and it did not disappoint! Brought kids and wife and was first experience in Japanese steakhouse and they had a blast! Definitely a place off the grid would recommend to anyone Don’t recommend lobster though was pretty salty

I only been to one other teppanyaki place located in Southcenter. and the verdict is that this place wins hands down! I got the salmon and fried rice and it was delicious. I also tried the steak which was delicious as well. They give you a lot of food and the chef was entertaining. They also give you shrimp and noodles with your food which is great! Before everything comes out, you also get salad and soup. It seems like a family owned restaurant and they try their best to accommodate you. I would return most definitely. I also enjoy the Asian décor of the restaurant, I just wish there were windows. ha.
