Lani takes care of each client professionally and with extraordinary care. Her salon is exquisitely decorated, she’ll offer a beverage in a substantial goblet if you desire. I get the Brazilian Blowout service from her every few months (I’ve been getting it done for years but recently moved to the area). She does a great job, is very careful and methodical with the application and the results last for months. Transforms difficult, multi-​textured, thick curls into silky, straight, smooth, tangle free hair that still hold curl with a iron when I want. Hair dries much more quickly from the shower. As the product gradually grows/​washes out you can get a beachy wave look too. Highly recommend!

Amazing Brazilian Blowout experience! I have very thick, curly long hair and a lot of it and I have struggled with it for over 30 years. Lani patiently worked her magic through the long processing for a Brazilian Blowout and spent additional time to style it beautifully and share her secrets with me. As part of my ongoing quest for perfect soft shiny hair, I visited Minx Designs on a blustery spring day for a Brazilian Blowout. It’s important, I have discovered, to get the brand-​name treatment. Some off-​brand keratin treatments tend to wash out quickly, and it’s too long and hot of a process to go through for temporarily straight hair.
It’s also important, I have learned, to find a stylist who can execute it properly. I have tried to do the Brazilian Blowout on myself, but my hair is much longer and thicker than my patience.
Third in importance is getting it done in a beautiful environment, while sipping on sparkling water and chatting about fashion, books, home décor and life with an incredibly interesting and warm person — who also happens to be great with your hair, even if hers is naturally straight.
Lani delivered on all points and more. As others have mentioned, her jewelbox of a salon is simply gorgeous, and the Queen Anne location is peaceful and convenient (easy street parking and close to a bus line). I arrived about 20 minutes early but Lani and her sweet dog, Stella, welcomed me in, and we got started on the 2+ hour procedure after a brief consultation. I did not know this, but Brazilian Blowouts can be adjusted depending on effect desired.
The new Brazilian Blowout formula is also less stinky than it was in the past. There is a chemical scent that’s unavoidable, but they’ve managed to tweak the formula so that it’s more or less masked while leaving a lingering flowery smell that doesn’t get in the way. Lani also tells me that Brazilian Blowout also offers a treatment for split ends, which a lot of people appreciate when they’re trying to grow out a short cut.
Lani did an an excellent job filling me in on the latest in Brazilian Blowout news, answering my questions and making me feel very comfortable in the chair. This is as she was applying her super-​meticulous eye — and touch — to my out of control long hair. I couldn’t be happier with it, and the long hot hours flew by. A sophisticated urban salon with a friendly and fun ambiance; Minx Designs receives my enthusiastic 5-​star review and personal referral.

After moving to Seattle seven years ago, I tried at least three stylists before finding Lani. Now at Minx Designs, she has created an oasis of calm and class in Queen Anne. My teen to early twenties kids also rave about her (son and daughters) and she has picked up on each of our idiosyncrasies and hair needs. I went to the same hair stylist for over 15 years. I was never really happy with her but afraid of worse haircuts and color elsewhere. Every visit to Lani’s studio is an appointment for my hair to look better! She cuts and styles my hair with precision, makes great suggestions about products, and is so personable. I have very long hair and my hair always looks better. Her salon is gorgeous, so it’s really a special treat to spend time there. When you enter the salon you already feel relaxed and pampered. I not only enjoyed the ambiance and décor, but I greatly appreciated Galina’s hair expertise. I know nothing of hair and do not like to tell the stylist what to do. I gave her an idea of what I normally like, what I want my hair to look like and she did her thing. My hair was bouncy and looked wonderful afterwards. I have already recommended her services to my personal clients.

Lani has been cutting my hair for over twenty years.
