Believe the poor reviews. I didn’t order expecting anything super authentic or the best in town. I ordered the butter chicken and a piece of garlic naan. The rice that came with it was fine but the garlic naan was just plain naan and was burnt. The butter chicken tasted more like tomato soup with dry chicken in it. I’ve spent time in India and have had lots of authentic Indian food stateside as well, but I’m no snob and think this isn’t worth the money or trying it out. Definitely go somewhere else if you want something that tastes remotely like Indian food.

I love Indian food and I find Mirch Masala as the perfect place; right in the middle of the city(Capitol Hill), close to 3 major bus lines, reasonably priced, fresh food’ I usually go for the buffet, nice variety — love the tandoor. But I have also gone at dinner time. Level of spiceness is perfect; I went to another Indian place about a month ago elsewhere in the city. Sadly, there I never stopped coughing due to the spicy flavor of the food. This never happens at Mirch Masala. Thank you.

Good food, service and prices. Plus, they were open on Christmas Day until around 8pm. I suggest you try the mixed grill and the garlic nann.

I order delivery from Mirch Masala almost every Sunday. I love it. Can’t go wrong with delicious Indian food delivered straight to your door. I always order the saag paneer. The cheese is tender and the spinach is super flavorful. Other favorites are the lamb korma. The sauce is super creamy and delicious and the lamb is usually tender. The baigan aloo is great and you can’t go wrong with the chicken tikka masala. I also usually don’t like samosas but I love theirs.

Tried Malai Kofta and Dal Tadka with Naan. Naan bread was fresh. Malai Kofta was very flavorful. This restaurant actually makes me feel like having food in some authentic Punjabi restaurant or dhaba in India. Food is extremely delicious and I cannot resist myself going there again. Though there are less vegetarian options, all the options available are worth trying.

Our waiter was rude and dismissive until he saw that I was on Unilocal and then was suddenly so courteous(sorry, buddy we’d already eaten. Too late. When I showed him my phone for the 15% discount for checking in on Unilocal he held my phone and scrolled around for a couple of minutes before finally believing me and giving it back. That was odd. The food was good, not a huge selection though. I might go back.

I have been saying for months, «I really need to rate this place on Unilocal.» This place just has a special place in my heart. I never really ate Indian food until I moved to Seattle a little over a year ago. Now I’m obsessed. I feel #blessed to have three Indian restaurants so close to me on Broadway. I’ve tried them all and like them all for their own reasons(India Express — meh food but only a block away and I love the lady who serves there; Annapurna — cool atmosphere/vibe). But Mirch Masala is my go-to. Hell, I’ll walk an extra four blocks in the rain or cold for it. My fiancé and I prefer their chicken dishes — their chicken is always fall-apart-with-a-fork tender and their curries are so flavorful. And last but not least, their garlic naan is off the chain. I’ve been to a number of Indian restaurants at this point, and I can say without a doubt that theirs is my favorite. Tonight especially, it was doughy perfection. The restaurant is family-owned, and the family could not be nicer. The same guy greets and serves us every time we go, and we just love him. Although admittedly, we have been going for months and still do not know his name. We’re working on it :)

Always lovely service. I come for the lunch buffet and leave satisfied and smiling every time(wishing my stomach could fit more!) They have standing regular dishes, and a few that rotate out so the selection does not get stale or boring. Today i saw a man box up the buffet, weigh it, and take it to go sooooo THATSAWESOME! Good to know! Beautifully decorated and a wonderfully calm ambiance amidst the bustle of Capitol Hill!

3.5 stars for Mirch Masala. Overall it was a fine experience. Including tax you pay just a touch under $ 10 for a lunch buffet that comes with fresh Naan bread. I came in on a Tuesday and the place was near empty. Within a few minutes I was the only one in the entire restaurant which I found slightly odd for the lunch hour. The buffet lunch was A-OK. The salad bar was nice and had fresh items including some fruit. Tandoori Chicken was fairly flavorful as was the Tikka Masala. The Saag was lacking something and just tasted like straight up spinach. The Naan came out fresh to the table which was awesome. It was a bit more thin and crispy than I’m used to but still decent. A couple mixed veggie dishes and some chicken curry that was a touch iffy. All in all it was a decent quick meal. PROS: Buffet under $ 10 Fresh Naan Both meat and veggie options Staff overall friendly Overall OK food CONS: Water never got refilled Plates never got taken away Some dishes lacked flavor

Lunch buffet for $ 8.95. It’s a pretty good deal and the food is pretty good. Great variety — two chicken dishes, a curry(today it was goat), several veggie choices, and a nice salad bar. You get offered fresh bread, which you should take advantage of. It’s very very fresh and delicious. Even though it’s a buffet, the food quality is surprisingly good.

This review is for their delivery service. I ordered through Eat24 and was quoted a 45 – 60 minute delivery time. My order was hot and at my door in 20 minutes! The delivery guy was very nice. I ordered Butter Chicken, Lamb Kofta, Spinach Naan, and rice pudding. The main dishes were absoutely wonderful and perfectly spiced to my liking. The spinach Naan was soft and yummy. I wasn’t thrilled with the rice pudding — a little too thin and watery. I will absolutely be ordering from them again. I will also be excited to try eating in their restaurant next time I am in the area.

The flavors are definitely sweeter than proper North Indian cooking, though I was ordering with friends who won’t touch a bit of spice so everything came out mild. The menu was solid americanized Indian(butter chicken, flavored naan, samosas) with a few real surprises(panner tikka and biryani). Overall, this place is A-OK. Using the Unilocal ratings, that’s three stars. It’s decent, well-priced Seattle Indian food. Paneer is firm and well-cooked. Chicken is tender. Rice is aromatic. I’d like a little bit more subtle flavor, and a lot less sweet in-your-face sugar. But, overall, it’s inoffensive and solid. I don’t think you could find a bad thing to order. The only odd thing I’ve found about the place is that the«raita» we were served was actually rice pudding. Talk about sweet! Edit: Second go-round, with much hotter food. Still just mediocre — and it’s really not cool that they serve rice pudding in place of raitha. Ugh.

This was my third visit, and I got the tandoori chicken again. This time the vegetables that came with it were amazing! The carrots and potatoes were just the right texture; tender yet still firm. I think this is probably the first time I’ve ever actually liked cooked carrots. There was also something I didn’t recognize(maybe artichoke?) that was very good; green peppers; and onions. The chicken was a little dry this time, but it was still perfectly spiced. The rice was an excellent complement to the slightly spicy food. The naan tasted a little like Bisquick, which was unusual, but it was still doughy, crispy, and delicious. Mirch Masala may not be a perfect 10, but it’s still worth coming to.

Every once in a while you come across a place that reminds you what it felt like to have someone who loves you make you comfort food. This is that place. One bite and you are transported back to a kitchen full of chatting family and amazing smells. The food here is quite yummy, but it’s the chai that I come here for. That and the conversation.

This place is just so-so… I so love Indian food and I totally know how a chicken korma tastes like and the korma I had tonight was way way far from the Korma that our Indian friend in Honolulu makes. On the butter chicken, I suspect that what I’ve tasted was ketchup. I like the Chi tea though and a so-so service therefore, I’m giving them 2 stars

Wow. I won’t be coming back unless this to go order knocks my socks off. The younger gentleman here had no expression except a scowl. I ordered a tandoori chicken for my friend and I wanted to try a new lamb dish. When I asked him for a recommendation, he choose the most expensive dish on the menu. When I asked about rice, he switched back and forth between which of the two dishes did not include rice, even though I pointed out that the menu clearly stated rice is included with. I see why many of the reviews are delivery. The food may be good but the restaurant experience will keep me away.

Ordered some take out one weekday night for dinner. Picked this place because it’s close to my house. Staff is friendly, venue is pretty casual, and the food is priced pretty comparably to other local joints — I order the same thing everywhere I go. I remember that the chicken masala looked a little more like tomato sauce(and less like ‘creamy’ looking, like I’m used to) and I felt like I got just a little less chicken in the order than I am used to at other places, but the flavor was very good. And you can’t go wrong with garlic naan so of course I got some of that. The to-go order came with a little side of that rice pudding stuff(nom nom) but none of the dipping sauces I usually get with naan(like that one green sauce, which I love). Anywhoo, I would eat here again; it’s convenient. Looks like they do a lunch(and dinner?) buffet style if you’re into that.

Some time during my Unilocaling adventures, I decided that I was going to visit all the Indian lunch buffets I could find. I had never been to one I didn’t like, and that trend seemed to be continuing. Mirch Masala on Broadway had always caught my eye; their lunch buffet goes from 11AM to 3PM, and I’m never in the area at that time! I finally just decided to settle down and try one of their dinner entrees. Can’t be too much different from their lunch offerings, right? I ordered a lamb goan curry and it came to my table after a seven-minute wait. While I’m no stranger to how Indian cuisine tends to involve a lot of rice and curry, I like how this restaurant presents these items. The basmati rice comes in a metal bowl, and the curry also comes in a metal bowl heated by a small fire underneath. I thought that was a nice touch; they’re making an effort to keep the curry warm. Also, I asked for a four-star level of spiciness in my curry, and they nailed that perfectly! Kudos to the chef for either being an expert or able to read my mind. Mixing the curry with the rice was a real pleasure. There was a perfect ratio of the two, and I didn’t have to try to make them balanced. I would have preferred more lamb pieces in the curry, though. They were good, but that’s precisely the reason I wanted more lamb pieces! I always find curry better when the meat isn’t so scarce. The waitress asked me whether I wanted any naan, and I said yes. I ordered a garlic naan, and while it was very good, it also wasn’t free. I had unknowingly added $ 2.95 to my bill by doing so, and I had assumed it was included because all my Indian lunch buffet visits have had the naan come with the meal. I think they should have told me the price as I was ordering it, but I suppose it’s my own fault for not checking the menu or asking. I was really tired that evening, so sue me. Because the lamb goan curry had left me so full, I asked for a to-go box for my leftover garlic naan. They handed me a small cardboard box. For a big hunk of bread. Oh well. At least I was able to get something. Maybe I just came at the wrong time, because I get the feeling that I would have had a better dining experience if I’d come for their lunch buffet instead.
