Another one bites the dust. GODDAMNYOUMERCERCORRIDORPROJECT! I am really bummed about the closing of Moka’s. It was really close to my work, the coffee was very good, and I loved loved LOVED the Pompeii chicken sandwich. It hurts, oh it hurts.

–Ample, free parking(as long as the lot isn’t full) –Great drinks and food as well! –Friendly and helpful baristas –Good space — open, airy, you get your own space without feeling cramped –Good location; I can meet pretty much anyone at this spot since it’s right on Mercer & Fairview. Easy to get to. My only wish is that there was more than one couch. When the couch is taken I’m left sitting at a table staring at the couch until whoever is on there is either creeped out enough that they leave, or I just remain a vulture for hours until that damn thing is free. If you could get another couch, I could stop scaring your guests. It’s as simple as that.

I love Moka’s. We actually DRIVE there, we’ve made it our«destination» coffee shop. The best Chai latte in the city of Seattle, fantastic espresso beverages, and a modest(but tasty!!) assortment of breakfast sandwiches or lunch items. I’m not a fan of their somewhat paltry bakery case, but they do often have these wonderful frosted sugar cookies that I can NOT go without and daily homemade soup that is always fantastic! Wine and a great selection of beers, too! Plenty of seating, and… wait for it… PARKING!

This place isn’t too bad. The atmosphere is great and the servers are consistently nice and cheerful. However, it’s a little too expensive for what you’re getting. The food/drinks aren’t awful, but they aren’t that great, and they’re kinda pricey.

AWESOME. Good coffee/treats. We have our company meetings here, too( ). The place can get noisy, so for serious conversation, go elsewhere. Very friendly/good service. Lots of table space. Parking — they got a parking lot. That’s the best part, esp. with street parking rates going up, limited to 2 hours, and angsty parking ticket writer police people running around.

Good coffee, nice baristas, and a cozy coffee house atmosphere. Plus, a free lot and the food looked good. I have only been here once, but will likely go back when I am in the area again!

The only saving grace for this place is their mexican mocha, which is amazing. Other than that I would give this place no stars if possible. I have tried REALLY hard to like, It’s right by my house, has great seating/ambiance but I just can’t do it. I refuse! Example(one of many I have experienced) I have been here quite a few times, the last 4 have been for breakfast sammies and they have been the the worst. They hired this new guy with dreads and he’s BAD and not in a tall dark handsome way. I’ve had things left off my Breakfast sandwich 3 out those 4 times. The last 2 times it was the bacon and then the mozzarella cheese. When i brought it back he put cold bacon on it and second time around he put cold mozz. cheese. i’m sorry but I just don’t want ¾ inch thick cold mozz on my now cold breakfast sammie. That just makes it even more disgusting. I just never understood how someone could have absolutley no pride in what they produce and give it to the customer i rather wait longer and receive awesomeness. Mistakes happen, but being careless is what makes me now HATE what i would really like to love.

I haven’t been by here in a while, but wanted to write up proper props for this coffee shop! They’re coffee is pretty good, albeit a little«sugared». The espresso is pretty decent too. The sandwiches and breakfast food is absolutely great too. Fresh breads & other ingredients.

Swung by here on the way to work because it was it right next to the bus stop and I hoped they had breakfast. Happily I noticed they did have breakfast. I ordered the Rio on the everything bagel and got shot down because they were out of everything bagels and went for the cheese bagel. I also ordered an americano which was decent. The bagel is nothing to right home about which is sad because the sandwich contents were pretty tasty. I don’t know if the cheese bagels just were not good that day or if I got a bad one but they aren’t exactly making it to the top of my list of ideal breakfasts anytime soon. The americano was also decent. All around a nice neighbor coffee shop. The staff was extremely happy and friendly for how early it was which is an excellent way to start the morning.

From entry to exit, getting a sandwich to go took me 30 minutes! Ridiculous! It had business, but was not busy. From watching the — likely sweet — older woman(who I am glad is employed at least here, if nowhere else, or is working with her family or whatever), this is no doubt standard procedure. And I don’t say that to scare people away — most of the time, you’re chilling for an hour at least and so it doesn’t matter. But if you’re crunched for time and looking for lunch, absolutely don’t come here. The sandwich was good enough. Nothing exceptional, but fresh and all that and they obviously made it to order. There are a lot of sandwich options, everyone should find something to make them happy. This seems like a standard small town style and/or family run coffee shop, with all the quirks — positive and negative — that come with it, but a few things boost it somewhat above that category: 1) Hemp milk — awesome! 2) A parking lot! Free! AMAZING! 3) A cute little outdoor covered area — more like a gazebo than a patio — which I bet is really pleasant to sit at in the summer, in those years that we have a summer, I mean. It’s only open until 7, but I could maybe see myself coming back here. There are a lot of round tables, sort of Zoka style. Odds of getting a seat to do some work(with some hemp milk) and not feeling at all bad about hogging it for hours seem very good. I wish they were open later!

The Nile breakfast sandwich is cheap and awesome! I come here for business meetings every Monday and Wednesday. I see the same friendly staff. I get the same awesome food. And the place reminds me of old-school Americana extracted from the 1950’s(yeah even with the teak wood ornaments). Even though I’m forced to come here, I’m sure that all the patrons and regulars who visit here are back for a reason. Friendly service goes a long way. Oh yeah, the internet is fast and free — that is a huuuge plus.

They have a really nice selection of food– fresh breakfast foods(sandwiches, oatmeal, pastries), lunchy type sandwiches. Also some highlights: Zatz bagels! Vashon coffee! Macrina pastries! Vegetarian and vegan options for sandwiches! Free wifi! Free parking! couches and lots of seating options… But they are kinda lackadaisical in their approach to opening on time with pastries in the case on weekend mornings, which has been painful at times.

This is my favorite coffeeshop in Seattle, by far. Besides the things that pretty much all coffeeshops have, like Wi-Fi, coffee/tea, employees, tables, etc., they have three features that are important to me, but much less common: 1. Food. This means I can stay at Moka’s and work for an extended period of time. I hear there are people who can go more than two hours without food(and no, croissants and muffins do not count), but I am not one of them. 2. Parking. They have their own free lot, so again, you can work here for an extended period of time without having to run outside and feed a meter. 3. Nonstop ‘80s music. You will hear nothing but ‘80s awesomeness at Moka’s. EDIT: Actually, I just got lucky the first bunch of times I went. I’ve now heard some non-80s music as well.

What I like about Moka’s: Serves up some good lattes and coffees and pastry Parking lot WiFi Friendly employee’s Good breakfast food(they have a egg/sausage/muffin that is better than McDonalds) Good lunchy type stuff They have a punch-card, buy 10 drinks, get next free Not Starbucks, also not overcrowded Thing’s I dont like: I dont live in SLU anymore so I dont go there as often as I would like. In conclusion: This place probably isn’t the best coffee/food you have ever had, or best ambience, but if feels very comfortable to me. Good coffee, some good food, parking, seating, and not too busy. It is a nice place to stop in, either walking or driving, have a latte and a quick bite to eat.

This place is special for the area it is in. The interior is cozy, spacious, and gets good sunlight. The lunch menu has an impressive array of sandwiches and salads. While slightly expensive(Average price: $ 7.50), the quality is very high. Sandwiches come with vegetables, chips or fruit. Ingredients, from the bread to cheese to meat, are fresh and healthy. In an area with growing office space and a very limited supply of lunch options, this is a great find — and perhaps the best sandwich and atmosphere I’ve found. Also, they have outdoor seating, and free parking. Enjoy!

I love that Moka’s has breakfast sandwiches, soup/sandwiches/salads and also your regular selection of pastries and goodies… very important for someone like me who is always hungry. Wi-fi and ample parking is also a plus! It has never been all that crowded when I’ve been there — I guess this is a good thing for those who like it quiet and private, but a bad thing for those atmosphere hunters.

I am reviewing the food not coffee. I often go here at lunch to hide out when I am having a bad day. I recommend the grille cheese with rye bread for the days you want to drink at lunch, but can’t. The girls are sweet and know the difference between bourbon and whiskey. Don’t ask.

Pros: large parking lot convenient location off Fairview Ave. sandwich & salad selections from $ 5.75 on up. Cons: So-so tea Horrible music — «Everything is bee-you-ti-ful» made me gag. I think that this was the first time that I’ve had to pull out my pod in a Seattle coffee house. No offense if that’s your kind of music.
