The dim sum here was okay. My bean curd was hard, seemed old and I wasn’t able to chew it. The shrimp dumping layer was thick. Shi Mai was okay, could be better. Short rib pork taste odd. Short rib beef was okay, a lot of black pepper on it. Fried bean curd was okay. My stone soup was salty or should I say all the food I ate here was a bit salty. The only good thing I had was the beef tripe. The waitress forgotten my iced Hong Kong milk tea. So far at least I got my water. Then I order an ice cream red bean, which is good too. I also had fried salt and pepper squid, wasn’t so bad. Overall, I wouldn’t come back here. There is better dim sum out there. I only came here because they seemed to have more dim sum variety and it was 12 am.

Great Dim Sum — They make all their own, which is increasingly rare in Seattle. But the other dishes are fantastic as well, and the service is always friendly and fast. There is a good reason that they are always packed in the mornings.

We looove this place It is a hidden gem, i remember standing in line of the other two famous Dim Sum spots for more than one hour. While checking out how dirty the place was. And getting to a very crowd place. Well, New Hong Kong Restaurant is clean, and big, so you dot have to wait. The staff is smiley and comes by often(you got a keep in mind that there is no much English going on, but they are great and sweet). Same variety as the two other dusty and famous spots. So, give New Hong Kong Restaurant a try next time you are in line waiting for an hour thinking thats the only good place. THEREIS A BETTERPLACE, New Hong Kong Restaurant

I always enjoy going here. Fast and simple service and the guy at the register as you walk out(you don’t pay at your table, you bring your dim sum sheet up to the desk before you leave) is always so eager to talk and is very nice. The quality of the food is pretty similar to other dim sum places I’ve been to– nothing too out of the ordinary or any one dish that stands out. I just find that for this big of an area, you get the best service as it’s easy to flag down someone and not get ignored.

Free parking, great customer service from the moment I entered the restaurant. The food was much better than the purple café and a few places on the University district. I highly recommend the chicken wings, chicken feet, shrimp dumplings, tripe, and the fresh tofu dessert!

Been here many many many times for dim sum, dinner, and asian weddings. The foods have their days, sometimes it’s really good and the others, you get served with old food. I’m really picky with Chinese food because of how oily the food can get but this place is one of my top places to go for dim sum and family style. On the weekends they serve sweet tofu during dim sum hours but they usually run out by noon. I’ve never had bad service nor have I ever had to wait for a table even during hot hours. Plus I like coming here because of the free garage parking. A plus for eating in Chinatown

All I have to say is mouse poop all over the bathroom floor & in the bathroom sink. I was totally disgusted! I am so happy I saw this before I ate anything from here. I think it was in the tea too. It was hard to tell. My perspective was skewed from all the mouse poop in the bathroom. Gross!

For me this is among the best dim sum restaurants in the Seattle area. I like the food itself as much as Jade Garden and Top Gun which always seem to have longer waits. Personally I like the shrimp dumplings, sticky rice, and pork spare ribs along with Chinese Broccoli. Having made a point to visit the top rated dim sum places in Richmond BC, I really believe dim sum in this area is pretty decent though obsiously not in the same leagues as Hong Kong where dim sum can earn a Michelin star. Selection is good and service is good. Convenient and plentiful free parking in the mall garage.

This place happens to be one of my friend’s favorite spots for dim sum in Seattle. And I’m always down for dim sum, so no complaints from me. In any case, rolled in around a non-standard time on a weekday(like…1:30PM). Good enough and it hit the spot for me, although nothing spectacular. I’ve had better and I’ve definitely had worse dim sum in my lifetime. At least they still have carts… most dim sum places these days don’t even have carts anymore. I suppose the one plus about this location is that it has free parking. Having been to other spots in the International District, this should not be an overlooked detail!

This place is an okay restaurant for dim sum or dinner. I’ve come here for weddings and it’s a pretty big place to hold a wedding. They actually have 2 rooms, which is partitioned by a expandable wall. But usually its only open when there is an event or wedding going on. I came here last time with my mom. We ordered several dishes, like har gow, shu mai, chicken feet, bbq pork rice noodle rolls, tripe, etc. The food was alright-my mom thought the food quality has gone down a bit since last time we came. There is plenty of free parking in the parking garage, which is one of the reasons I like coming here, versus looking for parking in Chinatown and going to another restaurant.

We’ve been to this location many times over the past decade, and several other family-style Chinese restaurants across King County. It’s not the best, but it’s decent and there’s a lot of room and free parking; normally I’d give it 3.5 — 4.5 stars. But not today. I’m giving it a 1 based on how bad the service has gotten. We came here with a group of 7 around 5pm to celebrate my fiancée’s graduation. The restaurant was less than 25% full. We ordered the regular family style(6 – 8 dishes) and a Peking duck in addition. It took 20 minutes for the first dish(Jellyfish) to come out. We finished it in 2 minutes. Then 15 minutes for the soup. Then another 15… we’ve never experienced food coming out so slowly. They also didn’t have the Peking duck, but they told us 25 minutes afterwards(when we thought it should have come out already). Why did it take so long to inform us when you don’t have something? Every once in a while, we’d ask if the rest of our food was coming out. The server asked what we ordered, and we tell him the family style #1, and he said he didn’t know what that is, that we should know and then remind him of what we ordered so he could make sure to get it for us. What??? After an hour and a half, we only got half of our family-style dishes. And we wanted to just call it quits. Then he comes out and tells us that they didn’t have the next item(some chicken dish). Again… you couldn’t have told us that maybe earlier? He wanted to substitute it for something else, trying to sell us something we didn’t want. In the end, he apologized and said he’d substitute in the quail, which is much better deal. Twenty minutes later, he brings it out and says that we got such a good deal… it was 4 portions of quail. We had 7 people. Then he finally brings out the rest of the food, and none of it tasted good. It felt like it was made in such a haste, and in spite. When we went to pay, we voiced our frustration again, and the cashier apologized and said she’d give us a discount. She said she’d take out the Peking Duck… which we never received. When we told her that… she said she’d take off $ 5. That was less than 5% of the total bill. As we left, the owner(or manager on duty) waved and said«sorry» from two tables away. How come she never approached our table and talked to us directly? We’ve been eating in Chinatown, Rainier, White Center, etc. our entire lives, so we know the kind of customer service to expect from these areas. But this was something different. This is the first time I’ve ever been inclined to give a $ 0 tip.

Went here before the lunch time rush. Thank goodness because there was a line outside when we were leaving. We came before 12noon on a Sunday so it was before what I call the«church rush,» lol. They have two really good-sized rooms that they most likely use as a banquet for parties. There is a stage with lights & everything & a dance floor. They were pretty busy because not that many carts were going around as we would like for Sunday. So whenever a cart went around we would just load up on whatever. For some reason they brought a Vegetarian Chow Mein straight to me, I didn’t even say anything about being vegetarian. Weird. I ate the bread off of the pork bun & the jelly noodle around the shrimp, lol. All in all, not a bad dim sum place! I’d go back!

This is by far the best dim sum experience I’ve had in Seattle, and I am unashamed to say that the free parking and lack of line contribute to that in a big way. It is a fantastic feeling to park your car and then be munching on your first dumpling in under 10 minutes. There was tons of seating(seriously, it’s a colossal restaurant) and absolutely no hint of a line at 11:30AM on Memorial Day. But wait, let’s not forget the food – it’s nothing to scoff at either. Between the two of us, we devoured siu mai, cheong fun, taro cake, and various other shrimp dumplings. The bill came out to $ 12 a person at the end of the meal, and we were both comfortably full. I would not hesitate to come back here the next time I want dim sum. Long gone from my life are those Harbor City lines.

They have a parking garage! Parking a plenty. That bumps it up a star. I’ve been here for dim sum and it’s just okay. On a Sunday morning it’s great to not have to park on the streets of the ID. I also went here for a benefit dinner and they did a really nice job. They were accommodating and nice considering there were a ton of people in there. They even gave my friend a fried rice without meat since she’s pescatarian and the other fried rice had pork in it.

Coming from a dimsum-loving family, I have had a lot of dim sum in my lifetime. I came here with a large group just to try it out, and to see if maybe we could finally find a place so good that we wouldn’t have to drive all the way up to Vancouver BC to get really good dim sum. Unfortunately, we did not find that place in New Hong Kong Restaurant. Nothing we had here was bad, and I definitely didn’t feel like it was sketchy, but there was nothing spectacular about the dim sum here. Despite its name, it is not a New Hong Kong. Unlike some of the other reviewers, we were actually happy with the service here. Usually dim sum service is pretty absent, but carts came around pretty often and they were pretty accommodating with our family friend’s tiny child. Another plus to this place is that the building that it’s in has parking! A rarity in Seattle. So I am probably still going to make the trip up to Vancouver, but this place is alright if you don’t want to leave the city.

New Kowloon or New Hong Kong is probably my favorite Dim Sum in the ID. This Cantonese restaurant is actually located in Viet Town, Pacific Rim Center on the 2nd floor. Free parking garage. Abundant Dim Sum including my favorite: Taro Root, Shrimp Ball, BBQ pork bow steamed bun, lotus curd, and egg tart to name a few. Yum

One word describes this place: BASIC. There are better dim sum joints in Seattle. For example, Harbor City, Jade Garden, Duk Li, that one hole-in-the-wall place on Beacon Hill, etc… just to name a few. I don’t really remember exactly what I had when I came here — that’s how basic it was. But it was the usual dim sum dishes: the shrimp dumplings, sticky rice with chicken wrapped in a large ass leaf, the white spongy cake thing(which some people at my table thought tasted sour), pork shui mai, and wide rice noodles with shrimp. In regards to the quality, it actually is NOT that great, and that says a lot considering the fact that I eat EVERYTHING. I don’t remember how the price was, but out of all the times I came here I only paid once(other times it was for an event). I can see why this place is appealing though. First, the FREEPARKING is a definite plus. Second, you can ALWAYS get a table no matter when you go(it will never get full because most people go to other places for dim sum haha. BURN). Finally, the restaurant is in a convenient location — right next to Viet Wah for all of your Asian groceries needs and a 3-minute walk to the Little Saigon area if you want to make a boba stop at HardWok Café. In sum, if you are BASIC, then please consider this BASIC dim sum place. Otherwise, look elsewhere.

The name… not the greatest of names… We went for Saturday dim sum, and were very pleasantly surprised. No wait, easy parking, fast service and good fresh dim sum. Will it go down in the history books as one of the best, no, but that doesn’t mean it isn’t a good place to satisfy your dim sum craving. If there is something in specific you are looking for, don’t be afraid to ask someone… we did that a couple of times and dishes magically appeared.

Food is ok but temperature control is terrible. Everything is cold and its 11am Sat. Large space though. This is probably good for wedding party where you don’t want to pay a lot but try to make profit from each guest(with the gifts).LOL We came out the place and felt like vomiting due to bad seasoning and salty in one of the beef dimsum dish. Never going back again.

I wonder why they call it the ‘New’ Hong Kong restaurant? When do they make the transition to becoming the ‘Old’ Hong Kong? I popped in the other day because my first restaurant of choice had already closed; so while it wasn’t my first choice I still had a decent experience. We were the only table in the restaurant, which isn’t uncommon given the late hour and its location in the Pacific Rim building. The service was on it, as you would hope it would be. Gosh, this place reminded me of the Chinese restaurant I worked in as a kid, except bigger. They even serve soda in a can like we used to. It’s a typical big banquet layout, so for me, it’s not the most comfortable environment to eat in. I was a bit pouty that I couldn’t scratch my Taiwanese food itch I’ve been having the past few days, but my date was happy to have dim sum instead, so if he’s happy, I’m happy ^_^ First, the pea vines with fried garlic were really good here. Sometimes, they can over-oil them and these were spot-on. The steamed chive and shrimp dumplings were great, the pan fried chive dumpling was a little oily, but still all right. Their salt and pepper tofu has a light cornstarch breading and has the soft chewier tofu(my preference, not his) and the shrimp and seaweed balls were standard plus – they weren’t greasy at all. The turnip cake was thick, cut in huge slabs and pan-fried well. This seems like a good spot for a large dim sum group of folks to gather versus a date night.
