Another Great Year! If you’ve missed last year’s fundraiser and again this year, what could you have been doing that was so important!?! I have written a review for Omnivorous 2011 giving you more details on the event, so I’ll simplify it in this one… Omnivorous features approximately 16 of the best restaurants, dessert makers, distillers and drink purveyors in Capitol Hill. A generous $ 75 donation is requested from participants in order to help raise funds for Capitol Hill Housing but entitles you to unlimited hors d’oeuvres and entertainment! To Compare: First event took place at the Century Ballroom and featured restaurants such as Anchovies & Olives, Café Presse, Fran’s Chocolates, Lark, Marjorie, Monsoon, Oddfellows, Poppy, Poquito’s, Spinasse, Tango, Terra Plata, Zoë, Quinn’s and Stumptown Coffee. This year they chose to have it at The Summit on Pike with most of the same vendors from last year, but this year, La Bete, Ba Bar, Little Uncle, Oola Distillery, Poquito’s, Project V Distillery, Tango, Taylor Shellfish, The Tin Table, and the Wandering Goose joined in! Among the crowd, Taylor Shellfish and their endless Kumamoto Oysters were the obvious fan favorite but I was most impressed with Ba Bar and their Banh Cuon. The best way to describe their dish would be that it was a deconstructed bite of Phở! YUM! I was also surprised by Little Uncle and their noodless phad thai! Other favorites include Café Presse and their cod purée with garlic and olive oil on a toasted baguette and Quinn’s salmon tartare with horseradish and crème fraîche. This year was fabulously put together! I loved the intimate feeling at the Ballroom last year but did not enjoy the long walks to the restroom and the fact that you had to pay for water. This year at The Summit, we had a larger venue, complimentary water with restrooms just a few feet away! THANKYOUCHH! I am already looking forward to your fundraiser in 2013!
