Outshine Salon

I had a wonderful experience here. It’s been a while since I’ve visited a salon, and Lisa did an absolutely amazing job transforming my long, grown out, sad hair into a super adorable and trendy long angled bob with bangs. I was very impressed by her skills, and I really enjoyed her enthusiasm (she told me more than once how much fun she was having with this cut, and I could tell it was true)! I’ve finally found a salon that I’m excited to return to!

I’ve been following Angelo to each new salon over the years, and luckily, he lets me know where he ends up! The best thing about Angelo is that you will never feel rushed or pressured, and your time at Outshine truly feels relaxing. Not only will you be entertained for an hour and a half, but you’ll get a great style a a very fair price. My color always fades gracefully (and I have dark hair) and my hair seems to grow out nicely as well. It’s also fun trying out new products each time I come in.
Outshine is located in a great family neighborhood, and next door is Honore Bakery where I can never resist an amann kouign or two. Despite the busy activity, I’ve never had a problem with parking.

Another rave for Cher! My 15 year old daughter has a TON of hair — it’s fine, but she has a ton of it, so it’s a bit of a challenge to work with. The stylist that we had been seeing for 8 years couldn’t make time for the processing my daughter’s hair needs, so we began the hunt for someone who could. Every year since the 6^th grade, my daughter’s hair has been a different extreme color — blue, purple, black/​blue, etc. This year she wanted red. The processing to strip the old color and add the new color generally takes about 5 hours.
Then I met Cher. When my daughter showed her the picture of the hair she wanted, Cher was very confident about what it would take to get it done. I was happy to see her so optimistic, but knew what she was in for.
When I went back to pick up my daughter about 4 hours later, I was honestly sort of surprised at how well it turned out. Her hair looked amazing, my daughter was super pleased, and so was I. I happily paid for the service and off we went.
Here’s where Cher really stood out and went above and beyond as a stylist. About three days after our appointment, Cher messaged me to let me know that she’d been thinking about my daughter’s hair, and wasn’t, herself, 100% happy with how it had turned out. She asked me if I’d bring my daughter back in for a touchup, free of charge. Who would say no to that?!
When I saw my daughter the night after her appointment, I couldn’t believe it. Her hair had looked great before, and Cher had, somehow, improved it. It looked amazing, and my daughter was just thrilled.
So, huge kudos to Cher! She found herself two new very enthusiastic clients. I am already making plans for what to do with my current «before» look, and will only book Cher to help.

I have horrible trust issues with hairstylists because I have Asian hair and unfortunately most hairstylists in the Seattle area do not know how to cut Asian hair. I’m so lucky to have found Cher at Outshine Salon. She listened to everything I had to say about how I wanted to have my hair (I’m a little particular) and styled my hair how I usually style my hair — as opposed to most hairstylists that give you a crazy hairstyle that looks great in the salon but something you could never do at home.
I have to say that Cher did such an amazing job with my hair I think the cut she did is one of the best cuts I have had in a long time. All my friends, family and co-​workers love my cut. I will definitely go back to Outshine Salon to have Cher cut my hair again and I highly recommend (especially Asian women) to have her give you an amazing cut.

Outshine is the place, and Angelo is the man! Angelo has been doing my hair almost as long as I’ve had hair, and all I can say is, he truly is the best. I follow him loyally wherever he goes, and his latest space, Outshine, is lovely.
Outshine is open and pretty, and the neighborhood is adorable. Honoré next door makes insanely delicious coffee and pastries too. I stop at Honoré, then I sip my bevy and visit with the best hairdresser in Seattle, while he works his magic.
My hairstyles grow out perfectly, I receive compliments by the dozens for my natural yet unique look, and he fits me in for an appointment when I need him to (and by text message at my preference). I can’t say enough about how much I adore my «Angelo time».

Lisa is great, she doesn’t make you feel like she is rushed and does a great job with both the color and the cut. She has done cuts, foils and color several times on my hair and each time I get compliments and everyone asks me, «who did your hair!»
I was a little worried about parking the first time I went, but there is tons of free street parking right in front of the salon, so no problem there either.
If you want a laid back, non pretentious salon that makes you look great, then this is your place :)

Angelo! Angelo! Angelo! Where he goes, I follow. The latest, lucky salon is Outshine. Just like my favorite Soundgarden song, serendipity. Back to Angelo, he is by far my most favorite hair stylist on numerous levels. My color is tricky with a ton of grey roots showing themselves more and more as I get older, plus I like the caramel and dark brown mixed up but natural looking. He nails my color effortlessly and my cut always is perfection. I am a pain I’m sure but, Angelo is extremely patient and a joy to sit and visit with for the couple hours I am there. Irreverent, an excellent sense of humor and gobs of flair, he is truly one of a kind.
He is extremely reasonable price wise and can almost always fit me in within a week.
I have referred almost 10 people I know to him and all love him too.

5 stars! (…I’d give 10 if I could!) Lisa is the BEST hair stylist I’ve ever worked with and I love her hip yet comfortable salon in Ballard. Lisa is an expert colorist and always cuts my hair beautifully. I’ve been using her services for years.
Lisa has done a variety of colors and styles with my hair, mainly bleach & tone (NOT easy!), or highlights/​lowlights — and she knows exactly how to interpret what I’m looking for and provides beautiful color each and every time.
Lisa is wonderful to work with. I always look forward to my salon visit, where I get to listen to jams, enjoy some (wink wink) sparkling beverages and always walk out looking like a bombshell! Speaking of which, I need to book my next appointment! You should too.

Love it! I’ve gone to Lisa for the last 8 years and am so thrilled she has her own place.
I trust her implicitly, the kind of stylist you just tell to do what she thinks is best. She’s amazing with both cutting my crazy thick hair and coloring my oh-​so-​stubborn grays. And I refer lots of people to her because, damn… I look good! :)
As a bonus, location is a perfect little slice of Ballard with Honore next door & Fat Hen across the street. Great way to spend a Saturday!
