I basically live in the T-wing of Health Sciences and patronize this coffee stand nearly every day. The coffee is Tully’s, which is disgusting, but that’s not their fault as everywhere on campus seems to serve Tully’s. You get used to it after a while and when forced to choose between gross caffeine and no caffeine before 8 in the morning, I will choose to be caffeinated 100 times out of 100. My favorite part about this little stand is the easy availability of snacks. They have pastries, chips, and all the usual suspects, but they also have yogurt, string cheese, hard-boiled eggs and other healthier options for when you forget your own snacks at home, or in my case, have not been to the grocery store to buy snacks in an embarrassingly long while. Overpass, I look forward to a long relationship.

Great place to meet a future doctor, lawyer, nurse, PT, OT, etc. Coffee is a little pricey, but it’s pretty tasty and the service is nice! I’ve seen a variety of foods in their case — a lot of different baked goods, some sushi rolls, sandwiches, yogurt, etc. Early in the day has the best selection.

Welcome to the new and improved Overpass Expresso! This was by far my favorite coffee distribution location on campus as a student, and it continues to be my favorite as an employee. Recently, thanks to the closing of the HUB, they’ve made some great additions to their little stand. First off, they are no longer serving Tully’s coffee — it is now Green Mountain(?) They’ve expanded their pastries window to encompass all of their food — with the addition of sandwiches, more pastries, and even CUPCAKEROYALE cupcakes! I was seriously considering getting the red velvet but then realized it was only 9am(maybe that’s more of a reason to get one). They’ve also added some high tables and chairs to take up some of that unused floor space(with still plenty of room to walk back and forth from class to class). The service is ALWAYS great — I feel like they have less employee turnover than other coffee stands and BESTOFALL… they still take Tully’s coffee punch cards. :-D

Estrella and her crew of fabulous baristas are in the top 5 reasons that I made it through undergrad alert enough to actually learn something in 8:30 science classes(seriously: biochem, virology, physics, mycology, global health… it was painful). I was SO devoted and loyal to Overpass that I’d actually trek all the way from the quad to get coffee and a bagel or blueberry scone between or before classes! I’m absolutely convinced that the other coffee places on campus are inferior to Overpass, with only Parnassus as the exception to the rule. By George? Hell naw. Suzzallo? On some days, sure. H-bar? Think Tank? Rotunda? Why bother with the wannabes if you’re already in the area? Go to Overpass :) They fuel your future MD, PhD, DDS, and nobel prize winners– shouldn’t that be good enough for you?

This was a brilliantly placed coffee cart(aka supplier of caffeinated beverages and baked goods to people in a hurry). I shudder to think how much money I’ve spent there since I arrived at UW. General sequence of events: I get off the bus and walk across the bridge, generally grouchy about the rain and that I’m going to class. I walk into Health Sciences and am hit by the glorious smell of Tully’s espresso. As soon as I have a mocha(especially if Estrella is the barista that day), I’m a happy camper.
