While being indecisive about dinner one night, we decided to wander down Broadway and see what restaurants caught our eye. We stumbled upon Panevino, and it did not disappoint! The menu has a variety of pastas and Italian dishes to choose from, as well as a decent selection of Italian desserts. We started out with some cocktails and both of our drinks were nice and strong. Good sign! For dinner, I got a clam linguine dish. It was incredibly flavorful and the pasta was cooked perfectly al dente. The portion was smaller than average, but was just enough to fill me up. They gave us some bread to munch on while we waited for our entrees, and it was amazing! It was fresh, soft, and fluffy with a hint of garlic flavor. Soooo good dipped in the olive oil and balsamic vinegar! We ended up getting a tiramisu for dessert and that was the most disappointing part of the dinner. The tiramisu was very heavy on the cream with only a tiny layer of ladyfingers. I probably wouldn’t order it again. Overall, I’m very happy we stumbled upon this place. Great food!

Dinner date with friends who pick this place. When we first walked in, we did not expect good food. It is small and busy. We waited for our server to come but when he did, he was very nice. He suggested wine pairings and dishes. After ordering, we waited but had great company that subsided our hungry tummies. When we got the food we devoured. Maybe we were hungry but the food was really good. Service was slow but to be expected for a Friday night in Cap Hill. We heard happy hour is really good so we will have to stop by.

Live around the corner and had dinner here in the past(twice) when it opened and have never gone back. Stopped in last night and had a very pleasant happy hour. The staff last night was very friendly, welcoming, and genuine. And, they even talked with/engaged in conversation with us. I will definelty return and try more items. The happy hour prices are very good. I look forward to returning.

Soft, fluffy, pillowy gnocchi in creamy pesto sauce. I couldn’t decide between the truffle cream or pesto sauce and asked if I could have the sauces mixed together(and they did!). It was a little taste if heaven. Our server was friendly and charming, the ambience lovely, and tasty cocktails!

I believe in a thing called love. Portion size is waaaay to much, but it balances out when we start talkin bout drinks. Zar, «our» bartender is the most welcoming guy. We left our big NYE plans to go here.

Chicken parmigiana: It is a serious weakness I have at any Italian restaurants. I ordered this at Panevino, along with bread, and was saddened to see that it didn’t come with spaghetti noodles. I always seem to make the assumption that restaurants serve chicken parmigiana with noodles but I realize now that’s not the case. Instead, it was served with some of the greatest seasoned potato bites I’ve had. I’ll drink to that! And on drinking: wine prices are reasonable and the server was kind enough to let us taste two kinds to make our selection. Have to knock off one star because our bruschetta appetizer never came and I was almost accused of never ordering it though everyone at our table knew that was not the case. Otherwise, service was wonderful. Oh… lasagna! Well worth it! Got to try a few bites off of my friends’ plate. Yum. My boyfriend loved it here and wants to come back … which is unusual, so this place must be that good!

great place for a date! my gf at the time, who is now my wife!!) brought me here after i did a 50mi bike ride. the food REALLY hit the spot nicely to replenish by body and soul. we went there recently for a double date with my wife’s MOH and her now hubby! they got married recently. I had the big wide noodle pasta with wild boar. really good. we had the antipasta sampler for two… but shared it among the four of us. and i took some pasta home and had it for leftovers a couple days later. it still tasted fantastic! parking can be a bit tough. but i really, really love this place and the food here.

I previously reviewed this place 5 stars a couple years ago. The reason my review has gone down is not because of a decrease in the customer service or a sharp increase in price, that hurts so many other restaurants. No, instead this is purely based on the menu. For whatever reason Panevino decided to change their menu, maybe a year ago?, and the quality has dive bombed. The dishes just aren’t as appealing anymore and the food isn’t as tasty. Best example I have is my favorite dish in the past was the salmon pasta, it was a very nice and tasty smoked salmon in it with a pink sauce. However I got the new version of the salmon pasta recently and it wasn’t smoked anymore and the fish had a fishy smell to it that wasn’t that appetizing. My friends and I almost had a cult like following for this place, this was our go to Italian joint in Seattle for the food and prices, and it was a large group of us that felt this way. Sadly, the new menu has killed it for most of us and the recent amazon local deal they just made, something all of us would have jumped for in the past, none of us are interested in even buying. Hopefully they can turn this around and go back to what worked because it really was that good in the past.

3 course menu for $ 28 on Tuesdays! I used to come here for dinner but now I come for their happy hour. Early happy hour is pretty solid. Or its the reason why I like them. I just hope they stop changing their menus. On the bright side: I enjoy my $ 5 pinot grigio and $ 6 pasta dishes! Why not? Get a caprese, meatballs, seafood cioppino! It’s a great stop before dinner for sure.

In a smaller town, this place would be considered good, but we’re in the big leagues baby. So lets start with the positive. The waitstaff is great, maybe beyond great. They’re attentive and charming and all the things waitstaff should be. The venue is nicely lit, and the layout is good. Then there are the food and drinks… So the drinks are meh. Currently you can stand up, walk five feet to «The Witness,» and get drinks that are similar in price and 5 times better. The food, while maybe the only Italian food on that stretch of Broadway, is still outclassed by plenty of places in Cap Hill. I mean 1 to 1 there are similarly priced places, in cap hill, with way better Italian food. So my advice is this. You want good drinks? Go anywhere else in Cap Hill. You want good Italian food? Go to Cascina Spinasse. This place might have been great at one point, but there are too many places doing it better. This isn’t the worst you can do in Cap Hill, but it’s far from the best.

I’ve been here at least a dozen times and I have to admit, they don’t disappoint EACHANDEVERYTIME. The waitstaff, the food, the ambiance– everything just oozes CAPHILLANDITALY. Carpaccio? YES. Tagliatelle? YES. Veal? DAMNRIGHT. Dessert? You bet. It’s quaint, it’s intimate, and it’s damn good.

I’ve never been to Italy but DAMN, I felt like I was there when we sat down at Panevino. Not only was it crowded, it was loud as hell and the waitstaff was merrily contributing to the cacophony. We showed up in time for their late night happy hour which had plenty of enticing entrees to choose from. I went with the Scampi Al Limone — huge shrimp on crostini and mixed greens — and it was the perfect light dinner I was seeking. We also split the mussels/clam in a spicy garlic sauce — DELISH. The house martini with vodka was tasty and not shy on the alcohol. Service was good for the most part — our server made a bit of an error with the appetizer and instead of apologizing, argued about with us about it. Kinda weird and the only drawback of this place. Definitely worth a comeback!

I LOVED this place last night! When we got there at 7, it was completely empty, but by the time we headed out around 9pm it was packed. It seemed to get busy around 8pm so it is definitely popular for the late night dinner crowd. It was a Saturday though so that probably had something to do with it. Our service was fantastic, I don’t remember out waiters name but he was funny and great. To start, we ordered a bottle of wine. I hadn’t even heard of the type of wine it was and just ordered it randomly, and it was delicious! They also had bread, olive oil and vinegar on the table to start and it was amazing. We also ordered some bruschetta and that was delicious as well. For the food, I had the gnocchi with tomato sauce. It was definitely the best gnocchi I’ve had in Seattle. It was cooked perfectly. I definitely recommend it. My husband had the lasagna and he LOVEDIT, and some of the people we were with had the lobster ravioli and they loved it as well. So it seems like the food was fantastic all around! Overall this was just a fabulous place and I left extremely satisfied. I definitely hope to return!

Maybe we should have ordered more of the pasta dishes? Is that what we did wrong? Because most of the plates we were served were mediocre at best and some just outright awful. I will say I like the ambiance of the place. Clean but chic and they have outdoor seating if it’s a nice day. Our server was also quite nice, but service was really slow. I think the problem was that our waitress was working tables and the bar. After we ordered, she disappeared to working behind the bar for a while and we were left waiting and hungry. We finally had to grab someone else and have them check on our meals. The highlight of the night was definitely the beet salad. Absolutely order this dish. This salad is the reason I gave this review an extra star. The portion is huge. There were plenty of beets, the arugula isn’t overly bitter, and it is overflowing with almonds and shaved cheese on top. I can’t remember what type of dressing it had but it was a perfectly dressed salad where it wasn’t soaking wet but it added just the right touch of flavor. Unfortunately after this great starter, the entrees were all downhill. I had the eggplant parmigiana which was recommended by our waitress. The mariana sauce tasted as if it was from a can and the mozzarella was burnt and«plastic-like.» The side of vegetables and potatoes weren’t seasoned either. I tried a bite of my dining companion’s dishes and the only one that was mediocre was the tagliolini pasta with anchovies. The anchovies added a nice touch of salt that was needed. The fresh rockfish dish was a complete disaster. I know white fish are inherently bland, but you’d think they’d at least try to add some sort of flavor to enhance the dish. It was literally like eating nothing this dish was so bland. The salmon was okay, but definitely overcooked and dry. After these entrees we didn’t want to stick around for dessert so we passed on that. I was definitely hoping this place would be better because I love Italian food and we live only a few blocks away. Unfortunately, I’m not sure we will be back anytime soon.

3.5 stars. Good Italian? In Seattle?! I must admit I cringe when the two are uttered in the same sentence, but when my sister was visiting from Vancouver(BC — a place which has excellent Italian, btw) and demanded Italian for dinner, I wasn’t sure where to take her. Then, I saw this Groupon for Panevino. I’d made reservations 3 days before through OpenTable online, but when we arrived several minutes after 7pm the place was packed(Thursday), and we had to wait another 15 minutes for our table. Apparently, Panevino was having its 3 courses for $ 28 deal. Being a good little Unilocalerino, I’d read the reviews of this place religiously, and forced 2 of my dining companions to have the Gnocchi Tartufati. I had the Pappardelle Funghi and my sister the Lobster Ravioli. We shared the Beet Salad and each had a glass of wine(me, the Tomaresca Chardonnay and Barbera). The wines were just meh. The bartender had also touted the Tomaresca as a «Californian chard» with the oaky buttery tones. It wasn’t like that at all, though perfectly drinkable. The good — All of the dishes were good, especially the Gnocchi Tartufati, which wasn’t much to look at(looked like a bunch of dirty gravel piled on a plate — I mean, really… maybe a parsley?), but tasted great(if not a bit too rich). My Pappardelle wasn’t as great as the Gnocchi, but it was definitely an above average dish. Also a little on the oily side. The Lobster Ravioli had a nice sauce, but I found it to be the most ordinary dish of the bunch. All were listed on the menu as HOUSESPECIALTY. The food was very simple and excellently prepared, if lacking a bit on the presentation. The beet salad was also excellent but we wondered whether the beets were canned, rather than the fresh as the menu implies. The bad — The service was not on par with the quality of the food. The kitchen churned out dishes fast enough but the servers were slow and inattentive. It took about 10 minutes to get a drink order in, another 15 at least to put in our meal orders(and I’m counting the 15AFTER the 10 – 15 minutes spent deciding on what we wanted). The acoustics are terrible in this place. I was yelling across the table to my dining companions just to be heard. Don’t go with your aging grandpa on a weekend. The hostess also wasn’t very communicative about when we’d get a table when we were waiting for one(after we’d made a reservation). Definitely not a place for people who are anal retentive about their pasta experience.(Although the two seem quite incongruous anyway. It IS Italy, after all.)

I’m still loving Panevino. I’ve been back a couple times since my initial review and everything has always been excellent. The service has always been attentive and topnotch. We had dinner here this weekend and it was packed! We were lucky to get a seat by the window. I had the tomato cream gnocchi and the panna cotta for dessert. Both were absolutely delicious. I had a few bites of my friend’s cheesecake and it was to die for. I can’t wait to come back!

i am glad we went here using a Groupon because their food isn’t worth what they were charging. I ordered the veal which was tough I didn’t think you could make veal tough. The ‘fresh’ vegis that came with it tasted like they came fresh out of the freezer, and the mushrooms I am pretty sure were the canned ones. My husbands pasta had the same vegis I had and what we were pretty sure was canned peas. And for $ 15 the pasta should be homemade or at least a better quality than the $ 1 a box kind you find at Safeway! Anyways not going back I’ll just stick with my favorite Italian place in Belltown La Fontana.

I can’t believe I didn’t review Panevino earlier because they have an awesome happy hour! I love to bring a friend here for catch up sessions since you can have a satisfying meal for under $ 12. Their pasta dishes are just the right size to satisfy your hunger. Out of all the pasta dishes on their happy hour menu I like their penne pesto and rigatoni bolognaise, although you really can’t go wrong with any of them. The bruschetta is a good entrée to split and they do load up on the tomato and basil topping. Oh and how can you forget about ordering a glass of wine? You can’t beat a $ 4 glass of wine for happy hour. As for dessert, I have only tried their panna cotta and I thought it was alright. Not my favorite dessert at Panevino though. However, they do serve a delicious affogato which is how I like to end my meals here when I have room for dessert.

Came back for a second time with a friend after we refused to wait 45 minutes for Ristorante Machiavelli. My experience this time wasn’t as great as the first, unfortunately. The whole dining experience felt super rushed and I felt pressured to finish my food fast because our server made it seem like he was hovering. He also forgot to bring us more bread after we asked for more. The food was also just OK. I ordered the spaghetti carbonara and it was SO greasy. My friend Kevin W. had ordered it before and I was so excited to try it myself but I was utterly disappointed. It was way too greasy and the bacon was overwhelming, I know I can’t complain because bacon is amazing but I didn’t want to feel like I was eating a heart attack. I still really like this place though because it’s cute, romantic and the happy hour deals are legit. I just wasn’t to fond of my last experience there.
