I’m basically happy with the job Performance Insulation did for us, which was re-​insulating our crawl space. The proposal clearly stated what they were going to do, and then they completed the job on the day they were supposed to. All the work was done very neatly and tidily. The crawl space now looks very clean, with a new vapor barrier and insulation that is very well tied up so it won’t slip. Then they cleaned up after themselves, with only a few tiny bits of the old yellow insulation visible in the lawn afterwards. Really, I can’t complain about a thing, and the new insulation seems to work very well.

DO NOT, UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES, HIRE THIS COMPANY. I wish I could give them zero stars. Travis and his crew were actually recommended to me by by builder (pretty sure they’ll never use them again either). Like the previous reviewer, my process started out fine. They got me a quote quickly, and went out to do the job (fire sprinkler tenting) within a couple days. Then things started going down hill. The tenting failed inspection 4 different times, plus another instance in which the inspector just walked away because he could tell nothing had been done since his last visit, AND a meeting in which the inspector met with the owner of the company and told him EXACTLY what to do to pass. This all took close to 3 weeks, and absolutely killed my construction time line. I should have fired them after the first or second failure. My mistake.

Never again will we use Performance Insulation for any home projects. The process started out fine enough. The estimate and proposal process was timely, and the crew showed up right on time the days of the job. We were getting our crawl space, wall, and attic insulation completed. The crews were very nice and professional, and were probably the best part of the job. The crew did break several panels on the siding of our house, and were unable to finish the attic phase of the job due to an exhaust fan we were waiting on having installed by another vendor. The salesperson I dealt with through the whole process let me know that the crew would be back out to repair their mistakes on the siding and finish up the attic within a couple of weeks. That was totally fine, and we were very patient with them.
I then asked the salesperson about the bills I was receiving, as they billed each individual phase (crawl, attic, and wall) separately on individual invoices, and the bill I received had only one phase on it, but the total cost of the job. I wanted to make sure that if I paid that invoice, it’d be covering the entire project (all phases.) Long story short, the salesperson told me that what I thought was the entire cost of the project was only for one phase, and when I looked back at the contract I had signed with all of the phases, he had all the phases on there, but the total job amount I signed for was NOT what each job cost. It appeared that he basically did the math wrong, and the job totals did not add up to the amount I had signed for. When I told him I’d pay the amount that I had signed for on the contract, he threatened that he would not send a crew out to fix the siding panels they broke on our house and finish up the attic job unless I agreed to pay the cost of all phases, which was not totaled correctly on the contract… even though the mistakes they made had nothing to do with the phase that was in dispute (wall.) After talking to the salesperson’s manager (and owner of the company, I believe), he basically took the stance of his salesperson and blamed their software for the errors on the contract. I understood the error, and since they did complete the wall phase, I agreed to pay, but did not appreciate the threat at all and the lack of clarity on their contract.
Had we known our contract would basically be double the amount we signed for beforehand, we would not have used this company. In fact, the total amount for which I signed was in multiple locations, not just the one contract I signed, so it was a rather big mistake they made. So, if you do decide to use them, be sure to scrutinize your contract and add up all the numbers yourself, and clarify the TOTAL cost of the job via email beforehand. However, I cannot recommend this company in good conscience.
