I had a fantastic experience at Petosa. The owners and staff are extremely knowledgeable and friendly. They were willing to spend multiple hours over a couple visits to educate me on how accordions work and make sure I was making the right decision. You won’t go wrong here.

Best service ever. You walk in and are able to speak with the actual owners of the company. No pressure to buy. But there accordions are irresistible. Awesome place! I would recommend them to anybody.

I sat on whether to post this review for a while, mostly because of the response that E H got from the establishment over a year after he left his unhappy account. That response was pretty illustrative of my sense of their attitude at Petosa based on my visit, though. I’m not a fan of being scoffed at and talked down to for the types of musical instruments I prefer to play. Whether it’s true what they at Petosa say — that a 10 year old would outgrow my ‘toy’ Hohner 12 bass, which needed a little upkeep, ‘by songbook one’ — or not, their approach to me was offputting. After a few other conversational elements, including an additional condescending lecture in which the person I spoke with presumed to tell me he knew more about my experience of how I play my accordion than I do, accusing me of playing it too hard, I left abruptly, with a bad taste in my mouth. So fine then; my accordion, which they hadn’t even seen(or seen me play), is considered a toy by these people, and apparently in playing it at all, I play it wrong. Not everyone agrees(case in point: ) but sure, I can go with that, and hey, if they don’t wanna make money fixing my toy, that’s their prerogative. I suppose if I played a massive, expensive accordion I’d be treated better by the clearly knowledgable people here. But if you’re like me, enjoy playing smaller accordions(FISTBUMP!!), and you like not being treated like a disposable idiot by people working in a service industry, maybe check out Bell and Reed in Pioneer Square, instead.

I’ve been going to Petosa’s since the late 1970s and they have consistently provided great customer service. Rarely do my Petosa accordions need work, but when they do Joe Jr. and his staff are always prompt and polite and go the extra mile to make sure the customer is satisfied. On my most recent visit the actual repair took less than five minutes, but they made my time there so enjoyable that I stayed for over two hours. While I was there five other customers came in and were helped in a similar manner. If you’re wondering what accordion to buy or where to take it for service, I highly recommend Petosa Accordions.

I have had nothing but overwhelmingly positive interactions with the staff at Petosa Accordions. The first time I visited, I had a very old accordion I was hoping I could get fixed up and learn to play. I brought it in to Petosa hoping they could give some advice. They allowed me in the back to watch the inspection(which was free!), and gave me advice on what size of accordion I should look for to play comfortably(mine was definitely too large). Even though I didn’t buy anything, they were so friendly and welcoming, and wished me luck in my search for a proper accordion, meanwhile giving me tips on what to check if I chose to buy one on Craigslist. I returned about a month later inquiring about the used accordions they had for sale in my size, and they remembered me and were so welcoming. They just seem really excited to help people wanting to learn to play the accordion and will bend over backwards to make sure your experience is memorable. I purchased a used accordion that they fixed up, and have been enjoying playing with it immensely. Surprised to read other negative reviews. I could go on about the amazing customer service all day!

I have rarely experienced customer service so poor as my interaction with Petosa’s. After waiting 10 minutes to even be acknowledged by an employee dispite several of them passing us by, we were told to «hang on» as they were trying to «make space» on their work bench. Forty-five minutes later and after a group of customers were helped before us, a very condescending and arrogant man helped us. He was thorough and knowledgeable in his work, but it was served with a large side sarcasm and condescending remarks. After politely explaining our frautration with the lack of communication and service the man defended his actions and stated, «well you got what you needed.» Maybe being the only accordion store in the area gives them the freedom to behave poorly, but I found it inexcusable.

You won’t find better quality accordions anywhere else, they’re top-of-the-line instruments. The service is first-class, and no one in the Pacific Northwest knows more about accordions. They definitely treat their customers fairly and honestly. And I like the fact that they give every customer as much time and attention as they need, without trying to rush things through.

I was absolutely floored at the wonderful service and attention. Knowing very little about accordions, I went for a visit to be fitted, so I could buy a good quality accordion to start on. Ken spent an amazing amount of time with us and helped make a good choice.

If you are fond of the the free reed, visit Petosa Music. The stuff of dreams: gorgeous antique accordions – scores – of varied provenance there to behold, as well as the new accordions crafted for generations in Italy by the Petosa family. It’s a family business and a Seattle-owned business, two reasons more to favor it. I’m still just a dreamer, plunking away on my wheezy thrift-store accordion, but someday maybe…
