First, this place is definitely not closed, at least any longer. And they pizza is the best in the city! «Chicago style pizza» sucked. But Picolos is amazing.

Piccolo’s! 1. Delivery, yay! 2. Good pizza. Not the best, not the worst. Crust is on the thinner side, not too saucy. Stick with a classic pizza for best results. 3. Awesome prices! yay! 4. Hot sauce with my pizza, YAYYAYYAY! 5. Arcade, awesome booths, one of which feels like a USSR war bunker/planning room. Yay!

Good food. Really it is. And that is why I’ve dealt with lazy service in the past. However, tonight is the last straw. I made a simple order to go with only one other table of 4 people in the restaurant. I saw the cook working his ass off but our server did not care that I waited over 45 minutes. She not only saw me still waiting but she sat down to chat with the table of four. Finally I walked up and gave her my phone number to call me once my order was ready. I was home within 10 minutes when I got the call… obviously she figured it out that I was still waiting and I don’t doubt my food was ready way before that. I told her to refund me because it’s midnight and I’m home now… I had to wait for her to figure that out and then say: ok you’ll be refunded. I can take a lot of crap for good food but shame on me if I put up with the service here.

Good pizza, opened late, now with a bar in the back if your night’s not over. This place to some may look kind of dirty and dingy but when you get over that fact you really will have a good time and a full stomach. They have a wide variety of different pizza and most of them are pretty good, if you order one of the pizzas that aren’t on the rotating stand they will make if for you right away. One of the things I love most about Piccolo’s is the special sauces that they make, especially the black sauce, IT’S SPICY. I often come here when I’m done with my night on the Ave and have cravings for food. Drinking on the ave and Piccolo’s goes hand in hand.

Tasty, greasy calzones. Love the atmosphere, very quiet and booths feel private.

I will never, ever go to this place again. Initially I loved their food and dragged many friends there finding mixed results. The food was just inconsistent and the service left a lot to desire. We had pizza delivered a few times and every time something was wrong but nothing worth calling back(no cheese on the pesto cheese sticks etc.) Tonight I ordered cheese pizza, pesto cheese sticks, and cinnamon sticks and two sodas. The sodas never came, the pesto cheese sticks again had no cheese and were something all together different than I had ever seen, the cinnamon sticks had a sauce other than what I ordered and the pizza was pretty nasty. It had very, very little sauce and was just hard and nasty. When the sodas didn’t come the stoned driver had a little difficulty figuring out how to work it out. When I called back to enquire about why the pesto sticks were something other than what we had many times before and why there was almost no sauce on the pizza a woman answered the phone and said she would credit some money back to my credit card. We ate the pesto sticks which weren’t too bad, just not what we ordered. We were however left with almost an entire pizza. So I called back and got the manager who proceeded to yell at me and tell me I was wrong. He told me there was nothing wrong with the pizza because he made it himself. The customer service is awful and consistency non-exsistent!

Thursday nights are trivia nights, but I’d steer clear of those nights. Small kitchen and a large number of patrons equate to long wait times. Our pizzas took an hour and a half after ordering and paying. The pizzas were excellent though. They’ll make them any way you wish. And their selections are EXTREME. If you can imagine it on a pizza, they probably have it. Habenero peppers. This place is a pizzeria at it’s core and little else. The place feels as if it exists to create the artistic collages that they sell as pizzas. Beers on tap, but only a select handful. Really, you could count them on one hand. Bottled beer consists of mostly domestics. So don’t expect to find your favorite, micro-brew or otherwise. Wine selection consisted of one bottle. Large wet-bar selection though, oddly enough. And they have Jäger on tap, a rarity even at standalone wet-establishments. This just adds to the feel that this place was opened to serve the public only the loves of it’s proprietor; the main being pizza, the rest being choice al-la carte selections to compliment the pie. No wait staff though, you order and pay at the register, take your number and find a seat. The only wait service you can expect is your drinks in the back lounge, or the delivery of your meal. Did I mention the arcade games are free? Bonus.

I use to love going to Piccolo’s. A group of 6 of us went this thursday and couldn’t believe how they’d changed! All of the pinball machines are GONE! they’ve turned the back area into a «lounge». It’s nice that they serve booze now but we miss the games. I can always go to Dante’s next door for a drink. Anyway. We ordered our food around 7:30 and the final person wasn’t served until 9pm! How f’ing long does it take to get a salad and hot wings going? Do they only have 1 tiny oven? The food itself is good but the service is awful. Knowing that they don’t have games anymore I won’t be going back. :(

I went in here cause I was at the Monkey and grubbing some food — this place was next door and they«delivered» to their neighbors. The place inside looks really awesome. They have alcove booth seating in a small joint. The guys working were obviously stoned out of their mind, but that didn’t bother me too much. It didn’t even bother me when it took about 5 minutes to explain what a gyro was. But it did bother me when(what I assume was the delivery guy) was offering support to describe this pita type thing, and when I asked if I didnt like it can I give it back, he said«I’m leaving cause I don’t have to deal with this shit!». Haha, of coarse you don’t, it’s obviously not your job to provide service to your guests. ass!!! So this isn’t the place you go to expect service, but I guess if you want delivery for greasy food in the area… this is the place.

I had a terrible experience here on a Saturday night! I walked in with a group of my friends around 11pm. One guy knew he wanted a slice, so he went ahead and ordered. The rest of us were chatting, and deciding whether or not we wanted a snack. Right as we were about to sit down(note: the place was EMPTY!), the man behind the counter asked us to either buy more pizza or leave!!! Talk about bad customer service! I will never go there again, despite the fact that the interior has awesome wooden booths.

My girlfriend and I are religious users of Unilocal… I think this is the only time it has failed us. Either that, or I am SCARED what constitutes«bad» pizza in Seattle because this place is supposed to be good and that’s totally untrue. Good star rating, solid reviews… so we called… the girl on the phone was pleasant and accommodating. The pizza was reasonably priced and arrived in a timely manner. It all went downhill when I opened the box. The crust appeared incredibly unnatural… I can’t really but my finger on it(I used to work in an expensive Italian restaurant — I KNOW what a hand-tossed crust looks like when made from freshly prepared dough), but there was definitely something wrong with it… it’s probably frozen, I’m not sure if it’s frozen in that shape or what — but there was definitely something wrong with the crust… to say nothing of the bland and lackluster taste. The cheese was definitely from a bulk bag and low quality and the mushrooms were probably canned before I was born. The pizza was accompanied by a small container of hot sauce(too difficult/expensive to include red pepper flakes like a normal pizza place?). With that said, I think it will be a long time before I’ve get the nerve to order pizza in Seattle again… either that or I will have to wait until a trip to Pittsburgh or Chicago… which is so sad…

I am very very disturbed… I had heard good things about Piccolo’s and was hoping I had found a pizza place to call home(as I began to call Seattle a second home). It was so gross it actually made me wish I could pull it out of my body and then fix myself a proper dinner instead. I don’t think I’m a spoiled pizza connoisseur, but if this is what Seattlites call«good» I hate to see what«bad» is… The crust was rubbery and an unnatural color of yellow. The cheese was gummy. The mushrooms tasted horrible. This experience has really scarred me for pizza delivery in Seattle. It’s not like I order in pizza a lot(maybe once a month or once every other month), but now I’m afraid to try any other pizza places in Seattle – even if I hear spectacular things about them. If you are looking for reviews in order to make your last-minute-exhausted-from-a-move-and-hungry decision, DONOT pick Piccolo’s.

This one ties with the Northlake in my mind! The most tasty pizza with crust which is not gooey and has its own good supporting taste. I never get there as late as it is open, but many of my friends are night owls, so they have a great place for an after bar snack. Go for it.

Piccolo’s has a lot going for it. It’s open until 3AM, has fresh, non-greasy pizza, and a variety of ingredients and sauces that is unequaled in U-District. Oh, and should I mention they serve beer? We discovered Piccolos after moving to the Ravenna/Upper U-district area, and were very tired of going to Ragazzi for our drunk munchies due to terrible customer service. You may have visited Piccolos unknowingly if you’ve ever blacked out at Monkey Pub or Dantes(the adjoining bars), but you’ll definitely remember it if you ever visit when sober. The décor at Piccolos is straight from the 60’s: wood paneled EVERYTHING. The TV’s showing reruns of Pee Wee’s Playhouse are a welcome distraction, as is the center table covered in tabloid pages. The pizza is totally solid. Not the best you’ve ever had, but heads-and-tails above most pizza places in terms of the quality of the ingredients. The dough is very consistent, never soggy in the middle and not burnt on the edges. The cheese and sauce are nothing out of the ordinary, pretty much what you’d expect(cheesy… tomatoey?..). I’d have to say that the best pizza topping, hands down, is Gyro meat. The portions of gyro meat are only average, and yet it’s still the best flavor. Mixed with Siracha(«hot cock») or one of their sauces, it’s completely addictive. On that note, perhaps more memorable than the pizza, are the sauces. When you approach the counter, just look down and to the right where there’s a shelf of condiments. You’ll see a bunch of generic squeeze bottles all of different shapes/sizes. Amongst these sauces, you’ve got: BIG hot, special hot, garlic hot, and black heart. BIG hot = BBQ/sweet, Special hot = habanero/very spicy, Garlic hot — garlic?/medium, Black heart = guatamalan insanity pepper?/spicy. They all have great flavor and are very unique, I suggest you try/mix all of them.(special hot + black heart = spicy flavor explosion in your mouth) They also have a decent game room in the back: pinball machines all in working condition, some shooters and adventure games, and a NeoGeo emulator cabinet with Metal Slug. Funny thing is, I went back there during the summer because they games are free then, but it was f***ing hot that I left dripping sweat and wondering if it was actually worth it(it wasn’t). Also, if you’re scared to actually go into Piccolos, you can get a taste by ordering a slice at the Monkey Pub. Or, you can get it delivered, which I recommend for the sheer hilarity of having your pizza arrive in a converted Predator(3-wheeled, motorcycle-powered meter maid transport).

The food gets a 3.5 stars and the décor and beer gets 4.5 stars from me. I can’t honestly say the pizza is better than Costco pizza. Don’t get me wrong, the pizza is pretty good, but it wasn’t awesome. It didn’t set the bar for pizza. That said, the price was pretty decent for pizza. Also, the crust was pretty good. Maybe it was just the olive and mushroom pizza wasn’t that good. It was pretty cold, when I was expecting it to be kept warm better. The décor on the other hand is pretty cool. I like how the tables seemed to be carved into the walls and how each table has a small TV you can watch. It makes each table seem like a little living unit. It was also pretty nice how in the middle there’s a long table that can sit about 15 people. When I was there, there were a group of late 20’s kids playing deeply strategic board games. I can admit the nerd in me wanted to join in. Oh, and beer. They have some decent beers there. Hoegaarden, some sort of porter, Manny’s, etc. The usual suspects. Ya dig?

They have the best pizza in the University District. I think what sets them apart from the other pizza joints is that their crust is really good. They also give you the choice of how much cheese you want; light, normal or extra. Plus, you can get a good sized pizza loaded with toppings for under $ 15. The equivalent pizza at Pagliacci will be over $ 10 more, and not as good. The bad news is that they don’t open until 5:00pm. The good news is they are open until 3:00am. Although, with Dante’s(stupid frat bar with lots of retards) across the street, I wouldn’t bother going after 1:00am The booths are awesome, but I can see trouble if you are over 300 pounds and trying to get into one. There are 4 – 5 arcade games and 4 – 5 pinball machines. None are overly spectacular.

Lots of underutilized space at this restaurant. Beautiful, cavernous, wood-paneled booths with tiny flat screens that display Pee Wee’s Play House close captioned. The arcade in the back is awesome. Minus one star for the pizza. But the assortment of hot sauces helps.

The best pizza I’ve had in Seattle yet! I have to admit, I haven’t tried a ton of pizza since moving to Seattle from New York two years ago. The reason behind this is because I am assured that no matter what the pizza is that I have, it will be a let down compared to what you’d get in NY. I had eaten at Northlake Taven and Pagliacci’s and neither did much for me. It wasn’t until I found Piccolo’s that I had a pizza that even resembled the goodness you’d get in New York. When my friend and her boyfriend came to visit from New York a year ago, we picked up a pie late night and they loved it. When my mother came to visit from back East a few months ago, she had one of their personal pizzas and gave it very hight marks as well. Piccolo’s has a wide variety of topping options and allows you to build your own super pizza. Along with pizza, they also have all sorts of sandwiches. Dining in or taking out are both good options. If you decide to eat there, they have a few good beers on tap and a nice, relaxed atmosphere. Maybe the best thing about Piccolo’s however is the fact that they have a whole bunch of pinball tables at your disposal while you wait for your pie to be prepared. Overall I give Piccolo’s very high marks and can assure you that you won’t be disappointed with their pies!
