I love reading the reviews of this place. There was a fire upstairs a few weeks ago. Destroyed most of the building. I guess this might finally be the end.

This was actually a going concern in 1987 when I went there to buy a push mower. It was known as a place to buy push mowers. We got a good one. I stopped by again around 2008 when I needed some masking tape. The place was a disaster, as described by other reviewers. As a test of the clerk’s hardware store expertise, I asked him if it made any difference whether I bought the blue tape or the beige tape. He said they were basically the same. Which is incorrect. The tape seemed crusty and not very sticky. So I didn’t buy any.

Omg. This place is completly nuts. It’s not a hardware store, it’s someone’s garage full of junk. Saw blades hanging on the walls, an old 70’s coke machine in the corner, broken dishwasher in the aisle. Everything dusty or rusty. I really get the impression some of this crap has been sitting in the same place for at least 40 years. I asked for a specific size drill bit and the pony-tailed fat guy spun around from the game he was playing on his computer, confused at my presence. «You could try looking over there,» he said, with a vague handwave in a general direction. I did eventually find a bit, for a reasonable price even… but the selection was very small and located next to something totally irrelevant like used ironing boards or something. Here is my guess at what’s going on here: the building is already owned and has been the«family business» for generations. Junior has no interest in maintaining said business, and has left it just as it is. He doesn’t have to pay rent, and probably sells barely enough«hardware» to break even on paying the taxes and one employee, or maybe dip into the general fund that daddy left. This place is just wild. I wouldn’t go back for anything useful. I could see sending a friend there as a practical joke though.

Seriously?! What the hell is this place, and why is it still open? I had to return a Uhaul here, and couldn’t believe what I saw. It was literally just random shit piled everywhere, and all kinds of what nots and dodads strewn about the floors. I doubt this place has even had a cleaning in 50yrs. I don’t get how this place operates and makes money, because I honestly couldn’t see a single thing in there in purchasable condition. Another word of advice: don’t even bother returning a Uhaul here. They made me try to back my trailer into their mess of a parking lot, including having to hop it over a curb bottoming it out. Nothing about their Uhaul operation is safe or convenient, and I don’t see how Uhaul hasn’t dropped them as a vendor.

aka THEHARDWARESTORETHATTIMEFORGOT There are a few reasons to go in here: 1) It’s a U-Haul rental location. Maybe the worst one I have seen. It is very difficult backing a large unfamiliar truck into and out of their tiny uneven parking lot. I would imagine there have been plenty of accidents here. You should definitely get the insurance, just in case. 2) It’s a relic from days gone by. Seriously, there are items on shelf pegs that have probably been there 15 – 20 years… possibly longer. A few items appeared to be rusting in their packages, no doubt doubt due to the leaking roof. The upshot of this is that if the original prices are still on the package, you could be getting a really good deal. The place is in such disrepair, that I am amazed it hasn’t been shut down by the city for one reason or another.

Total chaos envelopes the customer who bravely ventures into this 1940’s holdover. Don’t bother trying to find what you’re looking for, just go ahead and ask the guy behind the counter. This certainly isn’t ACE Hardware with its brightly lit and organized shelves. However, you might find that elusive part for the ancient turntable from the 60’s.
