I keep giving this place another chance only to be disappointed. I live nearby and have been here many times, usually ordering a standard cheeseburger because it is edible. Stell and his son are great, but the food. not so much. Burgers are alright, fries and onion rings are good. They have some specials but I don’t try them. Chicken burger is a frozen breaded piece of poop on a bun. I had a gyro recently and it royally sucked, same thing with the chicken souvlaki. Sorry Stell, but you should taste your food as it is prepared by your staff. Slopping a bunch of feta, sauce and tomato onto old and overcooked gyro meat in a pita does not a gyro make. If you want good ‘fast’ Greek food, go to Magnolia — Nikos Gyros — those guys take care to serve good food.

The gyro here is a must-have. It’s really close to my work, so it’s easy for me to walk there for lunch a couple times a month. Quite a few burger options. Personally, I love the jalapeño burger(yum!). The place is family-owned and run, and you can tell by the care and attention they give their customers.

I’ve been here twice, but it’s still hard to give this place a solid review based on what I’ve experienced. The food is great though, especially considering that it doesn’t have to be to satisfy the appetites of hungry college kids. I recently had a Greek Wrap and the tortilla(why not pita?) they used was nice and crispy, just the way I like it. The service was a tad slow, but it wasn’t anything near what I would complain about. As much as I like it, I personally cannot justify coming frequently due to the prices. It’s not necessarily expensive, but if you get a burger, fries, and a drink it would be equivalent to Red Robin in prices.

You can’t beat the prices and the speedy service. It’s really just a burger joint under the façade of a Greek restaurant. Sure the owners are Greek, but the food, not so much. They have gyros, burgers, wraps, salads, hot and cold sandwiches, etc. And tasty fries. $ 8 for a hot sandwich and crispy golden fries? Why not? I probably wouldn’t go out of my way to dine here, but would definitely stop by if I’m in the neighborhood and hungry.

Absolutely love these guys!!! I have started ordering from them ever since I moved my business(StoneWay CrossFit) into the neighborhood 10÷1÷10. My coaches and I were looking for a burger joint who could keep it paleo and these guys go far a beyond. Favorite Burger: Jalepeno burger, bunless, add avocado w/sweet potatoe fries The service is amazing! If you like the small town feeling and know that you will be taken care of this is the burger joint for you. Great burger, people and atmosphere!

Went to Stell’s on a beautiful Saturday afternoon with a buddy of mine. The sun was out, the SPU kiddies were playing frisbee on the grass across the street, and all was right in the world. We walked in to the sandwich shop to be greeted by a nice elderly gentlemen whom went above and beyond to make our time in his restaurant equally as impressive as the Seattle spring day outside. Turns out this elderly gentlemen was Stell himself. Great service doesn’t really describe what Stell brought us in that hour and a half we were hanging out with him. Some laughs were shared, a fantastic serving of Tiramisu(Stell’s Greek Tiramisu, not the Italian stuff), and heap of heaven in a pulled pork sandwich. If the Stell-tastic pulled pork sandwich is on special the day you go, ORDERIT. You will not be disappointed. Homemade BBQ sauce with tender smoked pork that melts in your mouth. Preciously piled on a couple slices of bread and served with some sweet potato fries. I would have offered Stell $ 500 for the BBQ sauce recipe but I didn’t have that much cash on me, so instead I just BS’d with him about how there wasn’t enough good beer in the US. What a great overall experience. Go in, sit down, enjoy some Stell company, and tell your friends about the badass pork sandwich you ate when you’re done. This is what a neighborhood sandwich shop should be, so let’s keep it around.

If I went to college at SPU, then I probably would come here a lot because it’s right across the street. The restaurant is affordable and definitely still has that small-business feel, which is always great to support. Unfortunately, just in judging the burger flavor and variety, I was pretty unimpressed. There weren’t that many unique mixes, so we chose the bacon burger because it was something safe. The burger is just average at best and a place I probably wouldn’t drive far to go visit. We tried a few other burgers, but I don’t know which ones because they weren’t mine and this was part of a burger crawl(3 restaurants in 1.5 hours). All were just ok, especially in comparison to the other 2 restaurants we visited. Tried the latte too… that’s just average, but also well priced.

Stell’s is a solid place for an enjoyable meal, but best if you get your food to go. The seating is on the uncomfortable side, and it can get super crowded, especially for lunch. That said, the service is ALWAYS friendly and good-natured. If you like gyros, this is a good place to get it. Their shakes are really good as well. OOO and try the Greek fries – feta goodness!

I was craving a burger and I picked this place based on Unilocal. When we arrived, I was a tad disappointed, as I was expecting a «sit down place» — nothing fancy, but like a bar, or gastro pub or restaurant. But we went anyways, because I was starving and we had a good parking spot right out front. The cashier was very nice and attentive! Just a random comment though: I hate when they call chicken breast sandwiches chicken burgers. They aren’t burgers. They are chicken sandwiches. Burgers(to me anyways) are made with GROUND meat. This goes for Von’s «turkey burger»(which is just slices of turkey breast) too. Don’t get me wrong, it was good, but not a burger. But I digress. The burger was tasty. It wasn’t outstanding, maybe a step or two up from Kidd Valley or Dick’s but it didn’t meet my expectations — I was looking for something heftier… with more choice of toppings(mushroom, grilled onions, etc.). It was good. I think if I didn’t have my heart set on a certain experience or type of burger or ambiance, I would have been happier. So I ultimately set them up for failure, not that it was a failure, but you know what I mean. All and all it was solid! Food and service.

Good place for lunch or for a quick meal. The service is great, and the prices are just right. Although the food is really good, prepare for heartburn. It does get crowded druing lunch time, but, most of the time, it’s easy to get a table.

I really wanted to like this place since it’s so close to where I live, but my experience was terrible. The customer service was lousy, as well as the food. I sat waiting for my food, to go, even though I saw it sitting behind the counter done, for quite some time. Burnt fries, and overpriced.

Great service and great food. This family-owned restaurant has exceptional burgers with fresh toppings, gyros and their onion rings are a must-try. Prices are semi-pricey, but well worth it!

Last week, was my second time at Stell’s. I stopped in for lunch with my husband and Dad(who was visiting from the East Coast) and LOVES burgers. We placed 3 orders of the Stell’s burger(with pastrami) and they were amazing! I prefer the sweet potato fries and they were extra crispy this time! I have only been here a few times, but I always feel like family when I am here. I know, that’s super cheesy, but that’s probably why we keep coming back!

Since my initial review, I’ve branched out in my tastes at Stell’s, and my overall opinion of the place remains pretty much the same. The staff continues to be super friendly, most notably Stell himself, who is almost always hanging around, running the place, cooking burgers, chatting with the customers. I’d agree with some of the other reviewers that the food isn’t stellar — it’s a burger joint, with tasty, solid burgers, decent shakes, pretty good fries. I’ve had several of the burgers, and they’re all tasty, and what I want in a burger, without knocking my socks off. I’ve tried a few other selections — the pulled pork sandwich, the bacon cheeseburger, they’re all good stuff. I’ll also often call ahead and put in a phone order, so my food is ready when I get there if I’m in a hurry, and they’re glad to do it, which is great. But what I simply must add to this update is Stell’s gyros. I’m with Shane L. — the burgers are good, but the gyros are the best part of Stell’s. I’m a sucker for gyros, and I haven’t had too much of a variety, but the gyros here are a pretty decent size, and packed with meat, veggies, feta, and whatever else it is they put on gyros. They’re messy, but oh-so-delicious, and as long as you keep them reasonably in their wrapper are pretty manageable. The combination of the tasty pita, the delicious gyro beef, the hearty helping of feta, and the other components that glue it all together is irresistible. It’s many a day that I just realize that there is nothing I want more for lunch/dinner than a gyro from Stell’s.

After a long day of lounging in bed thanks to a migraine and upset stomach, I cracked open my favorite blog and discovered — hark! — that it was National Cheeseburger Day. Being the proud owner of a Cheeseburger Tooth and also a ravenous appetite for all things meat, the excitement of this discovery naturally prompted the question: «Where do I celebrate?!» Living in Queen Anne near the Fremont Bridge offers multiple meat and cheese options: Blue Moon? No, the parking is a pain. Red Mill? Probably crowded(because NATURALLY everyone is aware of this holiday). Or… Stell’s? Yes! Stell’s! Not that I needed a reason to finally check out this darling little burger joint right down the street, but now I had no excuse. True, I could have — and should have — walked, but I pointed my trusty rear wheel drive steed toward Stell’s and found parking to be a breeze, and that breeze delivered the welcoming smell of grilled meat into my nose. Walking in, I was surprised to find several Greek items on the chalkboard that looked fit for another mission, but it was not National Greek Burger Day. «I’ll have the cheeseburger, please.» My Tooth smiled. Comparing Stell’s to Red Mill and Blue Moon, I’d have to say I was not disappointed. The actual burger portion of this outfit was well seasoned and nothing close to a meat hockey puck. I would have liked to see and therefore taste more of the special sauce(why does that always sound dirty?) and add grilled onions but since I live so close, I suppose I can give this another whirl — and I definitely will. I also promise to walk there. Promise.

Dear Stells, I gave you minus 2 stars for the following reasons: 1) When I asked you for fry sauce you fully accused me of being from«Utah»(between mouthfuls of your own food) because«no one here calls it that.» Actually it’s Idaho and there have been wars started over smaller land discrepancies but I let you live… this time. 2) Your fries are greasy, flaccid, and salt-starved. A burger joint with bad fries is the dubious equivalent of a Mexican food restaurant with pace as their house salsa. You’ve got to start with the fundamental basics and go from there… I gave you the GOOD stars for: 1) your onion rings. crispy, hollow golden cylinders that are melt-in-your-mouth mind-blowing. 2) your dippin’s which include perfectly seasoned ranch and«fry sauce» with an epic hint of barbecue flavoring. but seriously, Utah… grrrrr. 3) the veggie burger is unique as hell. It’s a bold restaurant that will deviate from fake-meat patty substitutions in exchange for fresh, juicy, cheesy, and perfectly grilled veggies. The execution was solid with a sloppy-joe quality most vegetarians miss about eating the real thing. In summation I give your establishment a 2-minute-long slow clap.

After eating at some of the top rated burger places in Seattle, I understand why they get such rave reviews(I’ve eaten at Zippy’s, Stell’s, Red Mill, and Dick’s Drive In). There doesn’t seem to be any great burger places in Seattle, so these places must seem great compared to McDonald’s or Wendy’s. The cheese burger patty tasted like a Boca veggie patty. There wasn’t much taste there. They certainly did not taste char– or even gas-grilled as some of the other reviewers seem to imply. If I had a grill, I am confident that I can make a Costco burger patty taste better than this one. The sweet potato fries were well done, but I couldn’t enjoy them as much since they didn’t come with the«special sweet potato fries sauce» that many places offer with sweet potato fries. Maybe there was a sauce I could’ve ordered, but I wasn’t informed of such a sauce(I did mention that it was my first time there). I would gladly eat at good fast food burger places such as Mooyah( ) or In n Out( ) over any of these places. Unfortunately, neither of them have made their way to Seattle. In the meantime, I will probably make my way over to Red Robbins for a consistently good burgers and not-too-bad steak fries.

Can I haz Seattle burger? Stells = Nom, Nom, Nom. Wipes meaty drool from chin. Repeat. Juicy, thick burgers. An extensive menu that includes non-burger items for other meat lovers. Burgers for less then $ 6? And you don’t have to wait forever? And the server will politely deliver it to your table, unasked? Sold, sold, sold. Its the best burger place in Seattle(I haven’t tried Red Mills yet!) and the price is great for the quality food you get. You must try the onion rings(w/ranch on the side). They might be the best onion rings I’ve had in America. I also was curious and ordered their Grilled Cheese sandwich on thick bread. Yum. Its the closest I’ve had to a Cuban grilled cheese sandwich(which is pressed Cuban bread with thick slabs of real cheese). Stells is a great place, the workers friendly, and the place is clean. My thighs won’t thank them but I’m going back for more!

Maybe I need to try the«& More» before I can be totally blown away. As it is my cheeseburger was tasty, but it wasn’t mind blowing. And if I’m eating that many calories soberly — it better be mind blowing! The onion rings and french fries were tasty as all deep fried foods are want to be, but again, nothing worth driving over to the back of Queen Anne. If you’re in the neighborhood be sure to give it a try because it was tasty and perhaps the«& More» is worth it!

This is fast food, but it’s fresh, family made, and packed with flavor. This place serves burgers and Greek-style gyros and salads. They make their own humice, Greek dressing, gyros meat, burgers, baklava, and I think they make their own pitas. It’s close to SPU campus so it can be crowded during the school year at times. I have bet money that they will expand within five years to meet their obvious demand. Everyone I know loves that place. They know me by name, and that’s cool. Actually, they call me «Lorna» which is not my name. But, at least they know me by *a* name, and they try. The food, service and atmosphere are all that matters and they rock.
