Nice spot for a friendly haircut. Called on Monday for a Tuesday appointment. Well-located near(5-minute walk) a happy-hour rich area. Good conversation, fair prices, haircut solid. Recommended.

Paul and Steve are great. My haircut is fantastic, and i never have to tell Paul how I like it. The straight razor shave is a life-changer. Skip the dumb hipster cuts and get a man-cut. Call in advanced for a slot, as walk-ins are tough.

My husband is annoyingly particular about his hair cut. When he came through the door I just couldn’t stop myself from running my fingers through his hair! His cut is amazing he had zero complaints(which is rare,) and the price is very reasonable. He tells me it was super welcoming and Paul, his stylest or barber(whatever guys call it,) translated what he wanted to his perfect look!

I didn’t feel welcome in this place at all. They kept me waiting while the barber read a magazine until the«time was up». The guy in the background seemed to mutter about me waiting. Stay away unless the post office is your choice of ambience and attitude for your haircut. See pic that I uploaded. I walked out after hanging out for about an hour(during which time they cut two people’s hair).

I felt compelled to write a review for this place since my husband doesn’t Unilocal,so it’ll be a mix of both our experiences(mainly his). My husband has been frequenting Stewart Street Barbers and getting his haircut by Paul for the past 5 years. I think after his first visit with Paul I told him he couldn’t go elsewhere because that’s how nice of a job Paul does. Oh, and this place is probably one of very few left in Seattle that does *straight razor shaves*. One his last visit he went for the whole nine yards with a haircut & straight razor shave. After I finished up some quick shopping downtown I met up with him just as his haircut was finishing up. I was in for a treat to see his shave by Steve, the owner. Fully reclined in the barber chair, the hubby lay helpless to the magical hands of Steve as he expertly prepared him to be beardless. YESSSSS! Goodbye beard… at least for a month or so, lol. I have no idea what all the lotion or gel concoctions he put on my husband’s face were but after those treatments and a couple hot towels, WOW. His skin felt like a baby’s bottom! And what is just as amazing is him not breaking out afterwards at all since he has pretty sensitive skin. Paul & Steve make conversation and joke with their clients like old friends. And you know what, they probably are since a place like this definitely has a list of regulars. Stewart Street Barbers really has a little bit of magic going on here.

I hesitate to spread the word since I’m afraid I’ll end up having to make an appt weeks in advance, but they deserve it. Great guys, good haircut, affordable price… unless you’re looking for an 80s perm this is your spot.

I love places like this because they provide great service and are becoming more and more rare. Places like this make me think of what things used to be like. Great little local shop with just 2 chairs. I chose this place because of the good reviews on here and it is a quick walk from my work. I made an appointment with Steve who was there promptly for my appointment. Very nice guy to chat with and did an excellent job cutting my hair. I will be a regular here. Call ahead and book an appointment and be sure to bring cash.

Nice guys, and if you like the way your dad and grandfather get their hair cut this is the place for you. They got that style down. Reasonably priced too(cash/checks only). Unfortunately keeping with the times, new styles, ways to make a guy feel hip(even if he’s not) I didn’t find here. I did my best to convey what I’d had in the past but ended up with what I thought was your«basic generic cut». I’ll admit I read the Unilocal and thought I could get my same look and save a few bucks. Sorry guys but this was my one and only trip.

My 5 stars may be a little biased as I have been getting my hair cuts here for a decade now. My business used to be around the corner, but I still go to see Steve, eventhough I moved 5 miles away. Their clientele varies as per the downtown Seattle business folk. Most of the clients that walk in while getting my hair cut are known by name and peronal information is always exchanged. How if the wife? Did that business deal go through? etc, etc. Also, just wanted to clarify some previous raters comments. They accept walk-ins, but they book out their weeks pretty quickly. So as you may not get a haircut immediately as you walk-in. They typically have a time slot. Haircuts are $ 24.00 as of this review, but this price has changed only about $ 4.00 over the last decade. It is very fair compared to the other salons in the dowtown area, where most places are $ 40.00 for a men’s haircut at a women’s salon.

5 stars might be a bit strong, but I am pre-disposed to like this place, since it’s a small business and something just a little special. I don’t often go to barber shops — usually just your run of the mill strip mall haircut places, so while looking for a spot in Seattle for a long overdue haircut, I happened on Stewart Street and decided to give it a whirl. It’s reservation only, so be sure to call ahead. Once you’re there, you’ll notice there’s not a lot to see — it’s a small storefront with two barber’s chairs. When I stopped by, only one of the partners was there, reading the paper and waiting for me to arrive, which I thought was just kind of cool. The haircut was meticulous, particularly the care he took to keep the hair out of my collar(important since I got my hair cut at lunch and so would be dealing with the itch for the rest of the day), plus a straight razor shave with hot lather on the neck line. A great experience. It’s a but pricier than my standard crappy haircut, but it’s worth it for the extra care taken, plus a better atmosphere. I would love to be able to make this my regular stop, but it’s quite the commute when I’m not in Seattle.

Was looking for a real shave(with a blade) after 30 days of mountaineering in the North Cascades. Tried several places in Seattle before being referred to Steward Street Barbers by the Westin’s concierge. The charged $ 24 for the shave and $ 24 for the hair cut. It was a great shave and haircut! They really knew what they were doing(with a 3 inch blade on my neck ;-). Was definitely worth the $ 50. I strongly recommend!

Nice guys giving good cuts for a decent price. They even trim the edges with a straight razor. This is my new regular spot. UPDATE: Just want to reiterate how much this place rocks. I went somewhere else last time and had a bad experience. From now on it is Stewart St. Barbers only for me.

I must update my first review of this. Though still officially a Monday-Friday business — one of the partners(Paul) will open for you on a Saturday if given advance notice(a couple of days). They care about their business and customer service that much to open the shop if requested — for their regular customers. I’ve now returned… goodbye Weldon Barber and all you other pricey places on the Eastside…
