You really cannot go wrong here. The staff is always friendly, and the food is fantastic. The sushi is fresh and creative, and the price is right. A great neighborhood spot for lunch or dinner

This a great little place off the beaten path as it’s a bit of an isolated location. But I’m a fan of the yaki-udon stir-fry dish and although I haven’t tried much of their fancier sushi rolls, have had great experiences with the standard spicy tuna rolls and salmon sashimi. The prices just can’t be beat for a delicious lunch!

Great family-owned restaurant. I came here a couple times after dragon boat practice and was thoroughly satisfied by the food. You must try the sea and red dragon rolls! beautifully presented and absolutely delicious! or if you happen to be cheap, there’s the $ 6.50 special for 2 rolls. It’s street parking so it can be a pain to park during rush hour, but i haven’t had any problems yet(fingers crossed). the service was a little slow, but the waitress was really friendly and she’s the only one running around so it’s understandable, plus we had a pretty large group. Overall i enjoyed eating here, looking forward to the next team dinner

it was lunchtime, but we got seated right away. after that though, we had to ask for service. i would give it 3.5 stars, but i rounded up. i think the factor that makes me also round up is that if given a choice, i would eat there again. the chicken yakisoba i had was pretty good too. i don’t have a good teriyaki place near my office anymore, so i don’t get it anymore during the week usually. i happen to have a lunch meeting here with a career mentor, and we initially met up at the starbucks next store before we came over. i added siracha sauce to spice up my yakisoba.

This is a nice quiet little place tucked away on Dexter Avenue N. There was just one lady managing the entire place when I went in for lunch with my wife and she did a fantastic job with the service. Their lunch combos are really good deals. We ordered 4 rolls. The shrimp tempura roll was fantastic as was the spicy tuna. The california roll was ok(have definitely had better but this wasn’t too bad) and the vegetarian roll(tofu+carrot) was a real fail(to be fair, I shouldn’t have ordered it in the first place). I would have generally given a place like this 3 stars but I really liked the warm service. The lady came and welcomed us to the neighborhood since we just moved here that day, told up about the area, offered us some green tea on the house and also helped us pack some sushi to go. Even though not something that will blow your mind, this simple and inexpensive place will surely be seeing a lot of me.

I work across the street from Sushi Bay(pretty sure I see a review from a fellow co-worker here!) so I’ve eaten here a few times. I am not a sushi fan, so I have never tried their sushi. My boyfriend did once(a unagi roll) and said it was just okay. I’ve had their chicken teriyaki several times. I feel like it would taste a lot better with more sauce, or maybe cooked a bit longer to be slightly more crisp. On a slight side note — for the love of god, all teriyaki establishments seattle wide, STOP putting in a few pieces of warm, wilted iceburg lettuce with shredded carrots in my take out box and calling it a side ‘salad’. disgusting. give me more rice, or give me death! just kidding. The biggest problem I have with Sushi Bay is that it’s a pretty dirty establishment, at least in the kitchen area, which seems like you’d want that to be the cleanest area. I find myself staring at the sludge and months(or years) worth of oil spilled on the floor and left there to rot. It doesn’t look like they’ve cleaned their walls or grills for years. I half expected to see a mouse crawl by at one point. I’m just saying that if you’re going to have a sushi bar RIGHTINFRONTOFYOURKITCHEN, at least clean the god damn kitchen! Really quite disgusting.

Is three reviews too many for one place? Oh well! I love Sushi Bay and come here regularly. The great customer service and fresh sushi keeps me coming back! They still struggle a bit with general cleanliness(the menus and table are often sticky, and the bathroom is just okay) but they have definitely improved in that area. Their customer service is excellent and the sushi fresh and delicious! I need to find out the waitresses name because she remembers all of our names every time we go! She greets us by name and also remembers the little things we like(ie: she always brings me an extra salt shaker with my edamame because I like mine extra salty). Also, last night when I asked the sushi chef, who was already cleaning up and putting everything away for the night because it was a half hour after closing time, if he could make me just a couple more pieces of nigiri he graciously said yes. The yellow tail and the albacore were freaking amazing last night! Totally fresh and tasty and melt-in-your-mouth delicious! I’m only giving 4 stars because, while they’ve improved in the cleanliness department, they still need to work on keeping the place a bit cleaner on a more consistent basis. Note: They are closed on Saturdays and Sundays! They are only open Mondays-Fridays from 11am to 3pm for lunch and then 5pm to 9pm for dinner.

not much selection on this side of south lake union, at least within walking distance. sushi rice could be a little better but for the price, this place is tough to beat around these parts. i’ve been here several times because it’s few blocks from my office building. this is what i’ve sampled thus far. meh: yakisoba — much too much sauce! it was more like lo-mein than stir fried. unagi bowl — it was layered slices of unagi like you would see on nigiri as opposed to a slab of unagi that normally would come with unadon. unagi sauce was lacking ok: chicken katsu — can be dry sometimes but that’s what happens when you use breast meat usually. not sure if dark meat is option. chicken teri(reg or spicy) — both are tasty and good size portions. spicy one is just sambal sauce added, i think. cali roll — again sushi rice is not the best but better than super market tuna roll — see«cali roll» doesn’t sound like a ringing endorsement on my part, does it? well, when your only(cheap) other options are a couple lousy delis, subway, or taco del mar within walking distance this place is pretty good. on days i drive, i’m rolling down to chinatown for some serious cheap eats, though…

It’s not bad, but it’s very dirty. I don’t see any reason to go there since there are so many other(cleaner) Japanese restaurants within a mile radius.

If you live or work on or near N. Dexter than you are aware that the eating options are pretty much limited to Sushi Bay or(blah) the Taco Del Mar next door unless you want to hoof it down to West Lake or Mercer for lunch. Sushi Bay on Dexter is one of those establishments you would accidentally drive past walk by if you weren’t paying attention as the dining room occupies a small, thin building with a tiny outside seating area for enjoying lunch in the summers. I generally order a lunch special such as a chicken and rice entrée, with a side of one of their different sushi’s available. As far as sushi goes it is pretty fresh and well made. They seem to have that down without a doubt! The chicken entrée is usually pretty good, though it seems sometimes they could grill the chicken more. I can’t speak to some of the reviewers who say this place isn’t ‘like it used to be’ but until I find another job in another part of town, this Sushi Bay will continue to be one of my favorite places to eat lunch.

Each restaurant has a personality, and this one is warm and welcoming. The building itself is rather small. I don’t want to guess how many seats, but if you could fit 40 people in here, I would be shocked. The people there were very nice and welcoming, what you would expect in a place that demands some intimacy. The rolls I had were good. I wouldn’t recommend anything specific yet, as I haven’t been there enough. But the fish is fresh, and of course made to order. Yup, I’ll be back.

This place has great prices especially their lunch specials. The wait staff is very kind an perfectly attentive. They do get really busy during lunch, but that’s a good thing! The«Cherry Blossom» a block away is always empty and isn’t as great. However if you are looking for good sushi, I’ve had better. Great if you want teriyaki or bulgogi. This is my «go-to» place for teriyaki in the area, but not for sushi.

Sushi Bay is GREAT, a wonderful quiet resturant with some tasty rolls both tradtional and americanized. I was fortunate enough not to have to dig thru a ton of different places to find some real quality food.(though since Ive tried many, nothing coming close to here!) the atmosphere is simple and inviting, with a bar and window seat in the front as well as several tables in the back. They have a good variety of warm and cold saki and are very attentive. The fish always tastes very fresh, with some of the best yellow tail I have ever had. Their rolls have a nice variety as well as some very unique combinations(the summer roll is wrapped in fresh cucumber! super refreshing) their miso soup was so so the two times I tried it, but most of their other sides are great(fried monkey brains, just try it!*) Of course, there are a few cons, the service can be decently slow and they arent always open when they should be. But this is nothing that would ever sway my decesion to eat here.

Delicious! This place has some really tasty sushi. I had the edamame, the Dexter roll(shrimp tempura, avocado, cucumber, yum) and two pieces of ebi, all super good. I even enjoyed the tofu in the miso soup, which I usually despise. The only reason I’m giving 4 stars instead of 5 is because their hours are inconsistent with what they advertise. Other than that the prices, the food and service are definitely 5 stars!

This place is good for a quick sushi fix. Nothing bad but nothing spectacular either. The rolls are on the small side but they won’t cost you an arm and a leg. The spicy tuna rolls are above average. Ask about the lunch special. I’ve had the teriyaki here before and it’s pretty good. So why 4 stars for a place that’s just ok? The staff is really nice and friendly. So 3 stars for the food and an extra star for the staff. Sushi Bay is really small so good luck getting a table around lunch time. I usually call in and pick up the food.

Went here for a business lunch meeting… Wow, this place amazed both of us. It is kind of small but the ambience is good. Lunch prices are really good for less than $ 10 you get a lot of food.

Pleasant but not astounding, I went here for lunch with a friend. We had some nice, fresh fish, both as sashimi and salmon teriyaki. It was good — the salmon perfectly cooked, the teriyaki with a nice flavor, and the super white tuna(never heard of that before!) was quite pleasant and smooth. I’d get the hot tea and fish of any kind if you’re there, but take a pass on the weak and insipid miso soup.

I went here with my friends a few days ago for dinner. It was our first time here and we were pleasantly surprised. This place is small but the sushi is good. Our server was really nice and attentive. We never had any problems with the service. The menu was a little confusing because it seemed like they had some of the dishes on the menu twice, but in different spots. So we didn’t know if they were the same or not? Maybe it was just us having problems… I dont know. I ordered some sashimi which came with miso soup. The sashimi was fresh and delicious, and the portions are big! My friend had to take some of hers home because she couldn’t eat it all. We also ordered 2 large hot sakes which were only $ 5 each!
I thought this place was a great find! Good food, good prices!

This place is tiny, and not near anything I usually go to, but it’s worth the effort. The sushi is fresh, melt in your mouth :) Staff is friendly. There is always a table open. It’s kind of unknown jem! I’ve been there 2 times now and I’ve always left happy. The crazy roll is yummy!

Where to begin… I feel like that scene in the original WIlly Wonka movie where he shows off the lickable wall paper except I am present with delicious looking Favor Sushi B platter where the Sake taste like Sake! The Hamachi taste like Hamachi! The Maguro taste like Maguro! And the Ungari… omg it is the best I have had in recent memory. And the tuna rolls was great! Best I have had memory as well. Severed with a nice Miso soup and Cucumber salad, this also is one of the best deals for $ 15.95 not including tax and tip. And the portions were nice too… the strips of fish were about 1″ wide by 4″ long… The Eel was a little smaller but larger than orther places at ¾″ wide by 3″ long. There was nothing stale nor old about the fish and even the restaurant had a nice aroma as they prepared Tempura for a to go order. Oh, and the ginger was fresh too — no pinkish ginger here. I got there about 6:45pm and was immediately greeted by a pleasant hostess and sat down at the bar. I was the only in house customer at the time. All I can really do at this point is thank Steph C. for making a point of trying this place out! And I was not disappointed. Oh, yeah, I am trying to learn the actual Japanese names of the Sushi pieces ;) My only regret is they aren’t closer to where I live!
