Nooooooooooooooo! I hope it isn’t really gone for good. This place had awesome food. Especially the chocolate tea service… I liked their faux fish better than most real fish, and I *heart* eating fish. I hope nothing bad happened to these guys, the staff are total sweethearts.

CLOSED This WAS an amazing place. I always took my out-of-towners here. Actually I can’t believe I hadn’t reviewed it before — I really thought I had. We went by tonight and the sign is gone and there are no tables inside. They had a note on the door saying there was a family emergency and they’d be closed for a few days but now it looks as though it’s over. :(

I’ve been to the Healthy Hedon twice. Considering that it’s within relatively easy walking distance of my work and has been open for a while now, that probably says something in itself. To me, one underrated mark of excellence in a restaurant comes from the servers knowing and understanding the dietary needs of the customers. I don’t have specific restrictions myself, but I did go with someone who does during my second visit. As pleasant as the servers were, they didn’t seem to know a great deal about whether the food would be acceptable for her to eat. Of course, that shortcoming might be less noticeable were the prices not ridiculous and the quality particularly stellar. During the second visit, I tried the Red Fish Blue Fish: as far as salads with mock meat go, this one was decent but nothing special. Yet the $ 23 price tag would seem to suggest otherwise. I still haven’t made it there for the Sunday brunch, but I haven’t seen much reason to bother.

I’ve been told that purple is a royal colour. I won’t argue since I don’t know much about such things, it’s just something I heard once. If this characteristic of the colour purple is true than the Healthy Hedon is swathed in royalty. A friend and I popped ’round this spot to sink our teeth into some vegan fare. After attempting to secure a spot at a table a handful of times my friend and I were rewarded for our persistence. World music on the sound system and a friendly, family-like staff work it out in the kitchen and in the front of the house.(Quite literally as my assumption is the restaurant’s spot was once a residence.) The Healthy Hedon is a clean establishment, spotless I’d say, and the staff is relaxed and friendly. Their personality really comes through. They want you to enjoy the food. The popcorn appetizer is tasty. I spotted several patrons coyly clean the sides of the cup the seasoned popcorn is served in with their fingers to get the last bits of flavor and pop out. I observed other patrons arrive with their own food storage containers to bring their leftovers home. Regulars no doubt. My favorite element of the Healthy Hedon was the wasabi cream. I don’t like wasabi but I loved the wasabi cream. I wouldn’t mind buying some from the Healthy Hedon so I could put it on everything. Four stars because I find The Café to be unbeatable vegan cuisine in Seattle. My recommendation would be to go without the expectation of getting a table. I also suggest bringing at least three other friends along to optimize your sampling experience.

Almost every time I go out to eat with friends in non-veg*n establishments, I am generally fed sprouts, zucchini, yellow squash and polenta. You can only eat these vegetarian options so many times if your life before eyebrows furl and thoughts of arson rise to the forefront of thought. I am here today to tell you, ladies and gentlemen, that I have a new appreciation for polenta. A fondness, if you will. Possibly lust. My bf and I went to Healthy Hedon for dinner Friday night, and we were blown away by the amazing flavor of our meals. The catcha fyah wings were outstanding, and the side salad of kale with dressing was even better. Nary a zucchini or squash on this plate. NARY! You must have the chocolate tea before/during/after your meal. Period. Do not fight me on this. Then there’s the Sunday brunch with the smoky spicy polenta. Holy Mother of God, I could not eat enough of that dish, it was THAT good. May this joint never leave Seattle, Amen.

I came here for Sunday brunch and was a disappointed. The food was unique but I found the dishes to be hit or miss. The buffet only had about 5 choices and I found myself liking only two, so the meal got a little boring. I might come here again if it was a lot cheaper, but at around $ 25 per person it is definitely not worth it.

I cannot say too many great things about this meal. The food is great, the staff is fun and knowledgeable, the food is great, the décor is very capitol hill’ish, the food is great, they only sell organic wine, the food is great. Ok ok you get the point. :) I have been here a couple times now and each time I left with a new fascination with vegetarian food. I agree with Ariel this is the most creative vegetarian food in Seattle. The last time I had a very southern dish if mashed yams, topped with ‘chicken’ white gravy and it came with a side of cooked greens. Every part of this dish worked on its own but together it was amazing. I did get a warning before I ordered this. They pointed out the couch in the corner so I lay down and take a nap after my meal :). They wont wrong. I am honestly thinking about going back again in a few days just to try it again. I also hear they are starting there spring menu in a few weeks. I cant wait!

I did not actually eat here, but I’m rating it low because of the lack of dishes that ate gluten free. there are exactly 2 and one is a salad. I decided to leave and eat elsewhere.

***Ah, Hedon — We Hardly Knew Ye! sniff…*** Add Healthy Hedon to your list of places to take people who give you crap about being vegan; they will be silent henceforth! The prices are a little steep, but then, it’s vegan gourmet cooking with amazing presentation and friendly staff in cozy digs — all those attributes don’t come cheap, and for me they’re worth it. If you’re on a budget, there’s certainly other options in town… I honestly can’t pick a favorite entrée — they’re all too good. *Do not* miss the chocolate tea — it’s pure, sweet enlightenment, and easily my favorite part of the experience. The chocolate soup is a close second. If you can’t make it for dinner, be sure to go to the Sunday brunch. As previously mentioned, it’s starting to get packed for a reason — I can’t think of too many phrases that freaks like me love to hear more than«all-you-can-eat vegan buffet». They’re working on some sort of «to go» sandwich window — not sure if that’s up and running yet. Also, they will deliver to homes and businesses if you’re ordering for at least 3 or 4. They are located on Belmont across the street from The B&O, between The Stumbling Monk and Half-Price books. Final Note: they have absolutely no parking. Unless you’re hoofing or bussing it, you’ll likely have to drive around for awhile. Don’t park in the Half-Price Books lot — technically they can tow you if they figure out you’re not a patron at their store.

Yummy yummy yummy I got love in my tummy… tra la laaaaaaaaa… We went to HH last weekend right at noon thinking it wouldn’t be that crowded, but obviously we were wrong! Not that I mind sharing tables. Their oatmeal«bar» rocks & the hot items were super tasty as well. I missed out on the waffles, but according to the people around me, they were 2 thumbs up. I’d definitely go again. Anyplace that serves espresso drinks as big as my head as well as mimosas, has my vote!

**RIP, HEDON. I POUR A SOYHONEYLATTEONTHEGROUNDTOMOURNYOURPASSING** Heathy Hedon gets my vote for the yummiest and most unique veggie eatery in town, with food spiced in ways you can’t believe(is that beet powder? is that ginger? might that be saffron? and HOO! IT’S ALLHOT!), and the ambiance is cozy and intimate. The food’s not cheap, but the portions are huge and OHMYGODSOGOOD. The menu’s 95% vegan(as they explain on the menu«…WELOVECHEESE!!!») and 100% yummy. Seriously, it’s been a long time since I’ve had vegetarian food that has made me blab this much about the flavors. Totally unique and amazing. They do dinners to die for(closed on Mondays, though!), and then they also have the most amazing Sunday brunch. $ 20 gets you all you can eat from three savory dishes, made-to-order blueberry waffles, and an access to a nummy oatmeal bar … plus a mimosa or a huge amazing espresso. Block out a couple hours and expect to leave stuffed, caffeinated, and mildly buzzed. My only complaint? Weird hours! They’re open for lunch — but only Tues-Thurs. Oh, and they don’t open for«lunch» until 1pm. Also, they’re closed Mondays. Oh, and they don’t do dinners on Sundays. Really, you’re wisest to just call them before you go to make sure they’re open.

I’ve only eaten brunch here, so I can’t comment on anything else. But on Sundays they have an all-you-can-eat brunch which comes with a mimosa or your espresso drink of choice and it’s *delicious*. Waffles, oatmeal, curries, rice, and lots more. It’s open for brunch sundays from noon til 4pm — which is also awesome, since so many places foolishly close at 3pm or earlier ;) edit: i came back for dinner and that was also really good. i brought meat eaters with me and they thought it was spicy, tasty & delicious. it isn’t the cheapest vegetarian food around, but it’s way tastier than most of the other vegetarian places on the hill, and way better at winning over carnivores. edit: came back with my mom and tried the«chocolate tea». It’s actually more like hot chocolate… they take truffles and pour hot water over them, then add spices(I chose boysenberry and cayenne — YUM!) It was very tasty.

I was really disappointed in the food and selection here. I have some food restrictions, but they didn’t seem to know exactly what was in some items, so I had a hard time knowing what to avoid. The food presentation is beautiful, but what you get for what you pay is very disappointing. Granted, I’m going off the one dish I ordered(I think it was the«threesome»), but it was just«blah». My friend had a fairly tasty salad special, but I think they charged him like $ 25. for it!

Fancy faux meat deliciousness. If you like gourmet vegetarian food served on a stick, this is your place. I would certainly give it five stars but the sheer goodness caused me to eat the spicy fake wings so fast they did a bit of a number on my system — if you choose this dish, eat with patience. The hot chocolate is quite an experience: pour hot coconut milk over chocolate truffles & your choice of fresh flavorings for a unique and splendid desert drink. «Hedon» in the title is apt indeed, but I suspect that«Healthy» might just be a name. I left satiated and recommend this restaurant without heistation.
