If this review were to focus on just the fresh guacamole and chips and the extremely friendly and knowledgeable staff, it would be 5 stars. Really. Being from Texas originally we have had a LOT of guacamole, and this was spectacular! Unfortunately, their other offerings were not as great. Service 5⁄5: friendly, knowledgeable, personable staff. The two servers took care of all of the tables — none of that«not my table — not my problem» attitude. Bartender brought out the drinks. Table next to us asked a lot of questions about the food and tequila and the servers were more than happy to answer and go beyond the norm to educate them. Fresh made guac & chips 5⁄5: seriously worth coming here just for this. Margaritas 4⁄5: REALLY tasty and made with fresh ingredients, which is probably why they are so pricey — $ 12 a pop. Tacos(cochinita pebil and beef belly) 2.5÷5: they were both just way too over-seasoned. Yes, cochinita pebil is supposed to have achiote and be a bit sweet, but it is not supposed to be so overwhelmed with spice and sweetness that you can’t appreciate the natural pork flavor. The beef belly was so over-salted that I couldn’t discern any other flavor. Sorely disappointed. Ambiance 2⁄5: LOVED the small place and the décor, but it is so LOUD! There was no way we could hear each other at normal volume. Sound dampening is sorely needed. Each table competing to be able to hear each other on a Saturday evening is even louder than most bars we frequent on the hill. Throw in a couple of loud talkers just having a normal good time and it overwhelms the entire place.

Came with 5 coworkers from out of town and set up a 6:30 reservation. Two of us were late but were still able to push through happy hour drinks and enters. The Al Pastor tacos are spicy but delish. The ambiance is so comfortable. The service, despite other reviews on here, was absolutely amazing. We had a couple of people helping us and they were all super helpful, accommodating, and friendly. I will definitely be back!

The guac is amazing, the margaritas tasty, the happy hour very reasonable, the service pretty good– the rest of the food– WEIRD! And lots of spiciness both heat wise and flavor wise and it is weird enough to mess up dinner and mess up the hearty part of happy hour. If you just want guac, chips, salsa, and a margarita– this is good. Any more than that and no way. Also, they don’t make their tortillas.

We went here because a local resident suggested it as one of her top five places to eat. Atmosphere: Let me start off by saying the selection of music was amazing. They played a brief selection of R&B, old school and 90’s. I felt like I was back at home in Washington, DC. Its a really small place, so get there early if you plan on dinning their for happy hour or during peak hours. Food: Ordered the steak tacos and the chicken enchilada. The steak tacos were great and had lots of flavor. However, the enchiladas were under seasoned. The soft tortillas for the steak tacos we had were on the mushy side and could have been a little more firmer so the tacos could stay together. Drinks/Happy Hour: The happy hour drinks were pretty good. Sangria was average but on the sweater side. The happy hour margarita was delicious. Chips, salsa and guacamole on the happy hour menu was great. Additional Charges: They charged us 1.50 for extra salsa to put on our taco and .50 for sour cream. Not too far off from other restaurants but wanted to let you know if you like adding these items to your meal, its extra. Services: The waiter was really nice, helpful and down to earth. The food didn’t take long, about 20 minutes or so.

Amazing. Amazing. Amazing. We’ve been here often as the food is outstanding and the service is great. The best part is happy hour. I mean you can get two rounds of drinks and extremely full for under $ 50 total. We love this spot!!!

I’m from out of town and found this spot on Unilocal. Now, I’m honored to submit a review of my own! Came here for happy hour on a Tuesday night. The street tacos(got the conchinita pibil tacos), which weren’t quite enough to fill me up, so I then ordered the guacamole fresco. Talk about awesome! I loved the chips, so crisp, fresh, and appropriately salted. The bar tender, Liz, was incredibly helpful and kind, very personable, and really elevated my experience. All in all, in what little time I have in this city, I’m glad I stopped off here for one of my meals.

Not going to waste too to much time on this place here. One star. Zero if I could. You don’t want to go here. Service: Laughable, abysmal. The kind of service that makes you wonder why someone with such limited waiting skills and obvious disdain for humans would choose to do that job. Small example: Cilantro was mixed in with the Cole slaw on the fish tacos. No big deal, let’s ask about it. So one person asked innocently if there was any cilantro-less cabbage back there, the sever said, condescendingly, «yeah… well every Mexican restaurant puts cilantro on everything… you’re gonna live, right?». Never offered an alternative, never offered any other toppings. Not one single sign of empathy. Just let the guest eat a plain, single, piece of fish on a corn tortilla. Praised themselves on how authentic they are. Then still charged $ 14 for it. It’s worthwhile to add, the waitress told a Colombian and two people from San Antonio how authentic they were… As if they had never seen or been to a Mexican restaurant in their lives. Hilarious. Anyways, the waitstaff tried they’re best to rectify it by saying much later, after we cashed out«just come back on Thursday’s! We make the mixed cole slaw then and use it all week! So maybe then you can ask and get plain Cole slaw…» Great tip… thanks, Y’all can keep the week long cabbage. After the meal, I went to our waiter to give some feedback on why we had a poor experience with the service. I quickly came to realize they really just don’t care. I was given super defensive, very condescending responses, dismissing everything I was saying because«they’re authentic». Okay

Yum, yum, and just freaking yum! It’s a smaller place, but… they DO serve big groups! Which is really nice. They just had us sit in the back, on the long table stretch. Their food is so goooood. They have like christmas lights there lol. Servers are pretty funny and very nice. I highly recommend coming here. And I love the all the colors of blue! Pretty neat. Oh and their drinks… omg, yum!

Came here on a Saturday night and it was mostly empty! They have a late night HH from 11−1am. $ 2 tacos!!! We ordered so many tacos and the flavors were great. Margaritas were pretty bad but the food was delish!

I’ve always been a fan of this place. It’s great to grab a cocktail and quick bite to eat — for as tiny as it is I can generally find a spot at the bar if I am just with one other person. If you go at 7pm though you will likely be waiting. It’s quaint and cozy and the staff has always been very friendly. I’ve been here a few handful of times and the quality of food, service, and ambiance is consistently good. Great HH deals — I am a fan of their chips + guac and they make a great jalapeño margarita!

Best. Margartita. Ever! I ventured into The Saint on a Sunday night(how appropriate) when I was looking for a nice place to grab some drinks and light food. I’d never been, but had passed by quite a few times, so I was excited to finally give it a try. We ordered the Quesos Fundidos with longaniza(House made Mexican chorizo, salsa verde). I thought it tasted good, but I wasn’t blown away. We also ordered the trucha tacos, but they forgot to bring them out. To make up for that, they brought us complimentary flan(really good) and I appreciated the high level of service and making sure we were taken care of. The highlight of the meal was the Serrano Margarita. The pepper used in the margarita was the perfect way to tone down what can often be a too sweet margarita. I thought this drink was unique and delicious… I ordered 3. I suggest coming in for happy hour and taking advantage of their competitive pricing.

We had dinner here last night and was impressed. We sat at the bar and the bartender was great. We both had margaritas with siete leguas resposado which were delicious. We also had two tacos al pastor and queso fundido with chorizo and salsa verde, which was really good but I think it’s a little hard to mess up melted cheese! The minus one star is for the pretentious attitude of the manager. I get that it was a little busy, but he cut my fiancé off mid sentence and ignored us after that. Overall, the food was very good, but definitely on the pricy side

A TEQUILAHAVEN! Weeeoooooo! I’m not big on tequila, which is such a shame since this quaint little place really does offer a good array of high and low end types. Otherwise, they’ve still got a full bar to serve those who don’t appreciate their original craft. And no, they won’t discriminate you for your lack of loving tequila. Matter of fact they’ll give you more chips with that salsa/guacamole order, and they will do it with a smile and ask you if there’s anything else you’d like cause they’re just that nice and awesome. I really appreciate The Saint.(Pun intended)

I’ve been pretty underwhelmed 3⁄3 visits. Food is very«ok» and the drinks were unoriginal and over priced. Happy hour offerings are minimal, too. But, I love good tequila and have yet to try as much as I want of their selection, so I’ll be back. No food though.

This was the end of our weekend evening thru Capitol Hill. We stopped in just at the end of happy hour so we each ordered a drink and some chips with guac. Saint had some of the freshest tasting guac I’ve had from any restaurant so far! Nice little place with a couple friendly guys at the front to greet and seat. Not crowded on our particular visit so this also added to a pleasant experience.

The little blue house or The Saint is a great stop for a few drinks and some good food. If you can catch the happy hour then it makes the trip here even better. Their guacamole and chips are amazingly good. If you are lucky as you walk by the kitchen you can see them making both fresh, yes the chips too. The tacos are all great and the chorizo and cheese dip is tasty.

More like 3.5 stars but I’m feeling generous. Came in and got a table right away; our waitress was super friendly and helpful. We started off with margaritas which honestly were the low point for me. I should have gotten mine on the rocks instead of straight up. There was too much orange flavor for my taste and I didn’t think it was cold enough. Food was great though, I really enjoyed my cheese enchilada and beans and my husband liked his tacos. Our margaritas were more expensive than our food, but even so this night didn’t break the bank.

I recently had a not so pleasant experience at The Saint. The owner Quentin reached out to let me know it was a fluke experience and we just had a run in with a bad apple. I decided to give The Saint another shot and I was humbled by the experience. Sometimes we jump to conclusions and assume the worst in people or assume the worst in an experience. I judged them as a whole, when I should have taken a moment to see it was just one person having a bad day. It happens to the best of us. Quentin is a genuine person and I thank him for making sure I knew what The Saint is all about. The Saint is a small place that is warm and welcoming. Great selection of tequila and very flavorful food. Thank you to everyone at The Saint. I will be back.

The tequila bar: where it’s at. It feels like Mexico. Having been here a couple years ago but not being too blown away, I figured I’d give this another shot. We walked in and unbeknownst to us, the door wasn’t hinged like most and flung open to hit a patron’s table… and they were not delighted. Fortunately for us, their sourness was quickly forgotten as soon as we made our way to the bar. Ordered their delicious«hermano» margaritas made by the sociable bartender, Kevin. He also suggested the rose tequila(wish I could remember the name of that one!) which we sipped on less-than-gracefully while eating some really great tacos. The Al Pastor(marinated pork roast) and Suadero(braised beef belly) were legit as all get-out. 4 drinks, two plates full of tacos, and a shot of the rose tequila took us to about $ 75. Split amongst a friend… not a bad deal.

Came here for late night drinks when we couldn’t get room at Pie bar down the street. And found they have $ 2 tacos beginning 11pm till 12am. Delicious! We got«bacon of the cow» tacos and some sort of braised pork tacos. 1.5 each with my friend quickly turned into 3 each after we wolfed down the first ones served to us. Paired with a shot of Casa Noble anejo tequila — sipped neat with the tacos, this place really hit the spot. While I never had tequila neat with food before, I was amazed by this new pairing experience. The tacos had an abundance of flavor, some sweet and savory, some bite backed with the scents of spiciness. But the sample of a smooth anejo neutralized the palate between bites. Will definitely come here again. Worth it to wait for $ 2 tacos when an ordinary entrée of 3 tacos can run you $ 10 or more. Also note that $ 2 tacos is limited selection. Overall great spot. Will definitely come again.
