Tiny’s Organic

I sampled their wares at the Public Market and I got a cup of their apple-​peach cider (twice!). I love that it’s organic and it’s sooooo delicious and refreshing.

The only type of booth I saw for tiny’s organic was their apple juice, and being the only place that sold drinks for $ 6, we bought their peach apple juice. They had about 4 different flavors and it was nice tasting at first, but a little sour so it was hard to drink it all.

I signed up for their fruit CSA program and paid the full amount several months in advance. When the time finally came for pick up of the first box, I was so disappointed! The box had only two types of fruit and over half the box contained old, soft apples. The box the second week was even worse so I canceled my membership. I was promised a refund. Over 3 months later, I finally received a partial refund check, cheating me out of three weeks. Their check bounced! Imagine, a company like Tiny’s sending me a bad check. I have been trying for over 2 months to get the bad check plus fees replaced. Today I finally received a replacement check, however, they failed to include the fees. This company not only supplies old, bad produce, but they have very poor accounting. They have had my money for almost a year but refuse to reimburse me properly. Don’t go through the nightmare I have had to go through. Don’t patronize this company!

I tried Tiny’s for 2 weeks in October after seeing a Living Social deal and was disappointed with both deliveries. The first week 50% of my box was heirloom tomatoes, which would be great EXCEPT all of them were completely green and hard. While I recognize there are recipes for green tomatoes, it would be nice to get some ripe tomatoes as well. The rest of week #1’s box included 2 beets, 2 potatoes, one very wilty leek and a few apples. The variety was terrible.
Week #2 I received primarily green tomatoes (again!) and apples. About half of the apples were badly bruised. In addition to the tomatoes and apples, I received a couple pairs and a couple potatoes. Less variety than the prior week.
I sent them an email after the delivery of the first box and did not receive a response back from them for over a week and only then because I sent them another email about the quality of the second delivery. Poor customer service.
I’ve tried other CSA providers over the last couple years and have generally been happy with the selection, quality of produce and service. Tiny’s however falls to the bottom. When I am getting a weekly box of fruits and veggies I expect there to be a variety of produce and for it to be usable during the week for my meals.

Tiny’s Organic is a great CSA option for fruit lovers.
Tiny’s orchards grow marvelous fruit, some of the best in the area: peaches, nectarines, apples, plums and pears.
Veggies, not as much variety but they have interesting cucumber and heirloom tomatoes.
Every delivery includes an entertaining newsletter with updates on how the crops are coming along and tales of the travails of farming. It’s very charming.
If you love fruit, making jam or drinking smoothies; this CSA is a good option for you.

I’ve been a member of Tiny’s for a few years now and I must say I really enjoy their service and products. Yes, there are sometimes repeat items especially in the winter but that’s expected as you get what grows locally and seasonally. Even then, they do a good job of creating varieties of selections so each week is different. I look forward to their delivery (I get it delivered now) every week. Their recipes are awesome as well. I try at least one or two out of each newsletter. I signed up for their winter program last year, so now I get Tiny’s fruit and veges all year round. Woo-​hoo!

I signed up for a 5-​week trial and really enjoyed the suspense of picking up the box every Wednesday. Tiny’s CSA got me to try Delicata squash (which is DELICIOUS, even better than Acorn!), Leeks (they’re great with potatoes!) and Golden Beets (I finally like beets!). The food was all good quality, included some high-​end items, and the mix was quite fruit-​heavy (fruit is expensive). I think this would be a great program for some people.
However, it doesn’t quite work for me. The pickup location is 1.5 miles from my house and has no parking, so I had to organize a ride to wait for me outside the location so that I didn’t have to walk home with a box. I understand that Tiny’s now delivers, but we live inside a locked apartment building. The size of the box was also curious. I’m not sure if we just eat a lot, but a Large box only lasted this family of two for 5 days. Some of the food also rotted within those 5 days, which could just be our moldy Seattle location.
I’m giving Tiny’s 4 stars because I think that the negatives are probably more about my family’s situation than Tiny’s. If you’re looking to try a CSA, I would recommend this farm.

wow, this is a farm that really doesn’t give two shits, isn’t it? i bought the living social deal to try the csa since i belonged to one a couple of years ago for a couple of years and over time was dissatisfied with the quality of the food and so much was coming from california. but i eat organic and local and this seemed like a great deal and might inspire me to join up.
so i got the deal and it looks like it’s a tiny box which is fine. but they have had my name misspelled from the get go and every week i correct my name on the sign out sheet and every week it’s misspelled again. strike #1. if you can’t pay enough attention to me to correct my name, shame on you.
then the selection sucks. i mean really sucks. this week i got 3 bags of pears, one bunch of beets, one bunch of chard, nectarines and plums. that’s HALF my box in pears. strike #2. i don’t even like pears, but i’ll eat 4 of them because i know they’re good for me. but what the hell am i gonna do with 3 bags and where are the rest of the veggies??? 2 veggies and 5 bags of fruit, and the last 2 were similar. strike #3. plus, in 5 weeks there has been zero lettuce.
i then got an email saying how much it means to these fucks that i tried their csa and they want me to sign up and pay for that shit. no sir. i can get local, organic produce at fred meyer and whole foods without having my expectations dashed with every trip.

Ugh. So many beets.
We got a 4 week trial and, while the quality of the produce was good, the selections were mostly awful. I’m open to trying a bunch of things, but I do sort of expect that I will not have to go to the store that week for vegetables to have with dinner. Unfortunately I had to do just that. Last week our large box contained, as it does every week so far, beets (I fancy myself a good cook but I can only do so much with beets), plus like a pound of Italian parsley, two apples and like five pounds of pears. The newsletter inside said we were supposed to get potatoes but apparently they ran out and we got double pears instead. Needless to say, I had to go to the grocery store that same day because I had nothing for dinner.
After our trial were switching to another service that lets you see in advance what your box will have in advance, make substitutions if you like and set permanent exemptions. No more beets ever. Sold!

Smoothies! Yum!
There was only one flavor available the day I was there, but it wasn’t too expensive, and it was quite tasty. The woman behind the table making the smoothies was really nice as well and a pleasure to talk to.
I wish there were more choices than just one, but the one they had was pretty darn good.

I was promised a convenient pickup location for my weekly bag of produce, instead i’m driving 35 to 45 min to pick up. I have notified them twice and neither time have the addressed my complaint. A TOTAL lack of costomer service.

I love the way they include recipes with the fresh picked produce so if you aren’t that familiar with the item you can learn something new… a culinary adventure. If you prepay for the following season you can get a screaming deal. It worked out that for 22 weeks of fabulous organic produce I paid around $ 25 a week for a small bag which feeds 2 people. Try that at Whole Foods!

01/​15/​2014 I’m fed up with Tiny’s Organic. I just receive notice from Unilocal that Tiny’s had several of my photos removed. Apparently they don’t want it’s customers to know the truth about what they actually give you. I posted a picture once a week for 20 weeks of the boxes I received. I included everything, including the rotten lettuce I received 3 times, and the bag of basil with someones disgusting bloody bandaid in it. Since Tiny’s is apparently trying to hide this from you, I would like to offer to email those pics to anyone who would like to see them. Just contact me via Unilocal.On that note, I removed the rest of my photos because if Tiny’s isn’t willing to let you see the bad, then I’m not helping them by showing the good.
Don’t bother buying from Tiny’s! They are a shady outfit.

Organic deliciousness. Food that tastes like real food!
We purchased a 5 week trial through one of the many, many deals sites around the ‘net. It was fantastic, the food was fresh and delicious, and we got to try produce that we wouldn’t normally purchase. Sometimes that worked out, I am now obsessed with leeks. Other times, not so much… dandelion greens and I will never be friends. They are a weed I try to stamp out of my yard, not food. Always, it was an adventure and we can’t wait for this season to start up! For 2 people the small bag is more than we can eat, but I have learned how to get creative with soups, sauces, and freezing, so when we are out of the growing season I just have to stick my head in the freezer and pull out delicious local produce.
We had one glitch during our 5 weeks, they were short a bag one week. Customer service was great, said they would drop a bag off at our house the next day or give us credit for the farmer’s market near our house.

We are a family of 3 (two veggie and fruit loving adults, 1 fruit loving toddler) that cooks almost all our meals from scratch. So we should be the ideal target for a CSA. However, we found the SMALL fruit and veggie bag to be too much for our family’s needs, to the point where some of the produce would rot before we got to eat it. And since you get the same thing week after week, the problem just gets worse over time.
Part of the problem is that the ratio of fruits to veggies is too heavy in favor of the fruits. The second problem is that it isn’t your standard CSA types of veggies – no zucchini, squash, etc. – but just leeks, greens, huge bags of sage, and unripe tasteless tomatoes.
The plums, pears, and tomatoes were often not ripe, which was frustrating at the beginning. In fact, the tomatoes went bad before they were ripe.
What was really sad to me is that we never got peaches. I LOVE Tiny’s peaches at the Farmer’s Market. Why they are not in the bag with the giant apples and plums and endless pears is beyond me.
Overall problems: unripe fruit and tomatoes, too much fruit, not enough veggie variety, and the same produce week after week.

I love this service so far! I pick up my bag weekly, at a reasonably convenient location, and then I don’t have to shop for days. It’s awesome. If you eat a lot of veggies and fruit, you’ll be set. Just be prepared to try a few new things, like dandelion greens… which turned out to be seriously tasty with the Roasted Garlic Dressing recipe they provided!
The fruit has been incredible, we just had the first local apples of the season and I swear they were the best apples I have ever tasted. Knowing they didn’t come from New Zealand is a bonus too.

Tiny’s, why did you have to entice me with your free smoothie sample? You probably know a sucker when you see one because I ended up spending a ridiculous amount of money for a fresh, organic smoothie made of strawberries, peaches, and pluot. If you ever decided to go commercial, you’d give Jamba Juice a run for their money.

The results are out. If you watch FoodInc, read Fast Food Nation or study any health magazine, all point to eating more local, fresh, organic produce. Where is the best place to start? Tiny’s Organic Produce.
They have the best local produce in Washington. This is an organic farm out of East Wenatchee with the most delicious organic produce around. They have the best apples, nectarines, peaches, pluots, plums, strawberries, cherries and many more fruits. They also produce tons of vegetables: tomatoes, eggplant, cucumbers, leafy greens.
They are nearly all the local farmer’s markets and Pike’s Place Market or you can buy from their CSA program where you get your own box of the freshest produce every week.

I am a sucker for free samples.
I am one of those obnoxious shoppers who will loop around a store a number of times and pretend to be extremely interested in whatever free samples you have laid out. I will ask questions. I will do my «woah — amazing» face when I eat said free sample. I will ask how much the item is — making you think I am serious about said item. I will then tell you I am off to do some shopping and I will definitely purchase said item. Then I will loop around the store some more and return to your free sample booth and repeat my whole «free sample» routine. I will sometimes do this 4 or 5 times. That’s how lame I am. And how passionate I am about free samples. I think I learned the whole routine from my mom. But yeah I’m a sucker for free samples.
So when I stumbled upon the free fruit samples at Tiny’s Organic fruit stall at Pike Place Market this past week, my friend and I went crazy.
We began sampling the free samples of Pluots. They were divine. Juicy and succulent with a taut skin. Then we moved onto the Donut Peaches. Sweet. Perfectly ripe. We slowly made our free sampling rounds around Tiny’s small fruit stall.
Suddenly, one of the guys behind the stall asked us question.
«Who was Snow White’s sister?»
My friend and I both looked at each other confused. Our cheeks full of free fruit samples.
The guy explained.
«I’m doing a crossword and I had no idea she even had a sister…»
And so I pulled out a genius move and brought out my Iphone and Googled it.
Smiling, I proudly announced — «Rose Red!»
We all began to talk. As we talked, my friend and I continued to sample the fruit. Hoping the clerks would be too enthralled in our dazzling conversation to notice our ambitious freebie free-​for-​all.
Noticing the empty sample plates — we finally relented and decided to buy some fruit. We went all out — and the guys behind the counter even picked them out for us. Each fruit was ready to be eaten. And the cost was so reasonable.
We found a nearby bench and proceeded to messily eat all of the fruit.
Restless, we decided to revisit the stall to see if any more free samples were out. Our eyes became big as we noticed a fresh plate of Pluots. We began the feeding frenzy again.
While we toothpicked Pluot after Pluot wedge into our mouth we began to joke around with the guys about our free-​sampling ways and they laughed it off — as they watched us continue to empty their incredible free fruit plates. The fruit was just too amazing. We suddenly looked down again at the bare fruit plate. My friend and I both looked at each other — sheepishly and then at the fruit clerk:
His eyes widened:
«You know that was like five whole Pluots you just ate!»
And so we proceeded to buy even more fruit for our trip to The Gorge — in between learning about Tiny’s Organic as a business.
If you make it out to Pike Place Market — go to Tiny’s. Ignore the other countless stands and make your way here. The fruit is by far the most delicious fruit I have ever tried. And the staff are genuinely passionate about making sure people are happy with their fruit and are excited to educate you about it.
And best of all they will encourage you to free sample away (see picture on business profile of the evidence)
