This place is great when you eat there. Good and fast service. However take out is a hit or miss. I love their veggies and portions. I usually get the pad see ew. When you get take out make sure to tell them you want it more wet. My issue has been that some of my noodles are still white. But literally they finish making your order after like ten minutes. I work near by and it’s great if you have a short lunch break!

I haven’t been so disappointed at a restaurant in a long time! I eat Thai food frequently that it’s kinda scary. This is by far, the worse phad thai that I’ve ever had. I’ve had ok, decent, mediocre but this is the worst. We ordered the green curry, phad thai, spring rolls, and green beans. Everything else was decent. My phad thai came out after all the food was eaten. So my phad thai came out super late, and it ended up being plain. There was no flavor. This isn’t authentic Thai food, we basically ate Chinese food. If I knew that, I would have went to a better Chinese resturant. Anyway, I ended up going to Oasis and getting a bubble tea to make myself feel better.

Came in on a very empty night and only two people in my party were eating. They wouldn’t let us eat in restaurant because we didn’t order 3 entrees. I tried to order an appetizer so my friends could eat in the restaurant and they still didn’t let us in in the restaurant. I was absolutely appalled. I didn’t even want to try the food after that. At least music was good.

Lots on the menu to choose from. and cheap prices. But nothing out of the ordinary or special. I had the green curry which was ok, I wish there had been more eggplant and rice. Some people in my group said the 5 star dishes they got weren’t great it «felt like they just dumped more chillies on it».“ Overall, I may just be back here out of convenience of location and cheap prices.

It was actually spicy, was a good portion of food for a Saturday and got some Singha with my Green Curry and its right by the Int’l district/stadium Metro exit. The menu I’m not sure if updated but I was hungry and it was filling

This place used to be my go-to thai place but I had a sour experience here a few months ago. The service had me shaking my head. I ordered a dish and wanted to add basil and the waitress(the one who is always there) basically had an attitude saying, «well it costs extra because I have to pay X amount per pound!» I was like… ummm okay, just tell me how much I have to pay. I didn’t need her reasoning and attitude. No thank you. Again, food is good, service… meh… I’m not a frequent customer anymore. Now I go maybe once a year WITH someone who can speak to her because I’d rather not. Service can certainly improve!

So yummy! They have the best Thai food I’ve had so far for a reasonable price! I love coming here before work and getting 0 star fried rice and pad Thai. 1 star is too much for me haha. But many of my friends can handle up to 5 stars!

Double check your receipt! They have different menus but charge the high priced one. I decided to look at the to go menu and had looked at the one in the window. Instead I was charged for sit down fancy menu. The employee said the other menus have not been updated. The thing that got me mad was it was $ 3 more per dish! That’s a lot! I should have just said cancel my order. Then when we tried the food at home, it was horrible with the exception of the yellow curry which was decent. We had 4 people plus my child who was eating and no one likes the pad si ew. It was definitely eeeewwwww! Worst ever! It was mushy, salty and looked like it was bad leftovers. My child wouldn’t eat it and usually he could eat a bowl of noodles. He kept crying no more! The cashew chicken was tough and the cashew was super soft and Michu. It was no good. Won’t be coming back again for sure. How can people give high reviews for this?

This place gives God food for the price you pay. The lunch comes with rice included which would be an additional $ 1 after 3 pm. Their Thai tea is just the right amount of sweetness but don’t order it if your on a diet cause you know, the added sugar and half and half. Honey Barbeque beef has been a favorite and with 2 generous slices of beef deliciously grilled, it’s hard not to order it over and over again. I mean, if you can’t finish it, take it to go and you’ll have a second meal. It is worth mentioning that their lunch fast pick(green curry with eggroll, rice and salad) is a pretty good option too.

I used to go to Tropics quite a bit when I worked in the ID; I no longer work there, so it’s less convenient to go to, but it’s definitely one of my go-to Thai restaurants in the area. Pad see ew is my dish of choice and it’s damn good. I do tend to go later for dinner, so I’ve never encountered the long wait times for food.

I’ve had the pad see ew, pad thai, fried rice, honey beef and spicy crispy garlic chicken and I loved it all. I work in the ID so it’s definitely one of our go-tos, but it always takes long to get the food which is the only thing I dont like. There’s always one person in the group that gets their food late. Maybe I’ve been watching Hell’s Kitchen too much, but I like it when everyone’s food comes out at the same time. Overall, food and service is good, but it could take a little longer for some to get their food especially during the lunch rush.

Honestly, the people who own this place is not Thai and neither are the cooks. It used to be so much better until recent years. I ordered the lard nah, which used to have such good texture and good spice level to it, my friend ordered the pad see ew. Both were not to our liking. Pad see ew was white colored and salty and lard nah was bland and not spicy at all, even with 3 stars. After this experience, I will not come back.

Phad Thai and Spicy Noodle are pretty solid choices. Service is almost always dog slow. Takeout orders are usually late. The spicy star rating is wildly inconsistent.

I went to Tropics at lunch time to try their Tropics fried rice. It was recommended and did not disappoint. Something to note is that the International District is very busy during lunchtime. Tropics is no exception. I had to wait for about 20 minutes for table. The host was communicative and found me a table reasonably. Overall, I think Tropics is a nice friendly place and worth trying. It would probably be more laid back on weekends.

We love their mango curry! Also if you’re extra sinful like me and love crab puffs, their crab delight is on point. They use scallion in their mixture and it gives them a more smooth taste. Sometimes their Thai iced tea has too much condensed milk for me, but its just extra sweet and more delish! Always really fast and pleasant service.

My boyfriend loves this place and is always trying to stick up for their food, but I’m pretty sure it’s because the main server lady /owner knows him well. So let me tell you the truth and let you know that this place is disgusting. I was really put off by this place the very first time I came here. As I said, the server /owner knows my boyfriend, but not on a personal level. It’s only because he used to come here a lot with his sister. So anyways, to get to the point, we ordered pad see ew and the moment it came out, I knew something was wrong. Usually, it’s brown or will have a gravy look to it. Not the pad see ew here! It came out completely white, like the noodles had not been cooked with anything or… I don’t know. It just wasn’t cooked properly, I can tell you that. Then we both tried it and of course thought the same. My boyfriend called her over and asked if something could be done because the food was clearly not cooked correctly. She then got all super defensive saying how he’s the only one who was complaining, it must be just him because they served it all day and no one said anything, it’s how they always make it, etc. Uhmmm, what? I know you«know» my boyfriend, but we didn’t ask for an argument, we asked you to fix your horribly made food. She then took it back and came back out with REAL pad see ew. You know, how it was supposed to look and taste. I said I would never go back just based off her attitude and how she blamed us basically for her food coming out bad. We eat Thai food once a week — we know how it should look and taste. You’re not fooling us. Unfortunately, I had to come back here. I was treating my boyfriend out to lunch during his lunch break one day and he wanted Thai and it was the closest around. Again, another disappointing experience. He ordered the pad see ew again and this time tried to give them the excuse, «I think it’s so plain because I usually get 3 stars and this time it’s 2.» No, babe. Just… No. I liked the honey BBQ short ribs, but that was it. The pad Thai tasted like it was cooked with 4 cups of lime juice. The flavoring here on their noodles dishes is just extremely off. Also, this place is dirty. Please clean your tables and get the long hairs out from under the glass. Thank you!

My first review on tropic was when i was still limited to where i can travel to eat. now that I’ve branched out more and tried different thai restaurants. i’m sorry to say that this place is not authentic thai. sure, it has the same ingredients and menu as a thai restaurant but it doesnt taste like thai food. it’s owned by a chinese family which could explain why. The service here is something to compliment on. The lady who works as a waitress, Joyce is very friendly and will remember you and your order if you’ve visited more than twice. I know i will be back but its only because i’ve grown accustomed to the taste of their«pad see ew» and it’s at a convenient location with convenient open hours.

I’ve frequented this place many, many times over the last couple of years and I have no idea why. I don’t even like tropics, and everytime I leave I always tell myself to make it my last trip. It’s a known establishment amongst my group of friends and it’s one of the very few Thai options in the international district. It can hardly be called Thai food. The dishes are generally greasy, sloppy, and kind of all taste the same. There’s nothing horrid about the food, there is just little to be desired after just a few bites. The different chefs must also have different interpretations of their spice star system. I regularly handle spicy food well, but a two star left my plate too spicy to be enjoyable. The only good thing I can say is thank goodness they got rid of the woman that would run people down for tips. Overall, I may just be back here again one day out of convenience of location. But really there are so many amazing options in the international district. And if Thai food is what you’re feening, it doesn’t hurt to venture out a bit further to find a great place with authentic Thai cuisine and hospitality, because it’s not gonna be here.

Omg chicken wings and the crunchy things that go on top. SOOOOGOOOOOD. I always get the musammam(sp?) curry. I get 1 star because I’m a wuss. Always chicken. The portions are great. I usually end up taking some for lunch the next day. Pad Kee Mao is also great. Usually my other half orders the 3 stars which I can bear just enough to not take a sip every other bite. So for all those that like spicy you’d probably do better to order at least 4 stars or more. Come here! The staff is great. I think at this point the know my order by heart and can even recognize my voice over the phone… sad? Nawwwww, just giving them props on their intelligence and voice recognition skills. :)
