The barista is very nice(shout out to Meghan), the location is awesome(nerd store!), and the pastries are baked in house and delicious. But my GOD, the coffee is awful. This is not at all a reflection on the barista’s skills, but rather the beans, the roast, the method that perhaps the owners are teaching. Every coffee drink I have had here has been very watery, mostly flavorless, and the flavor that does come through is unpleasant. For reference, I enjoy Victrola, Vita, Muddy Cup, and Bedlam the most. Where say, Muddy Cup’s cold brew is intense and chocolatey, the cold brew at Uptown is basically undrinkable, cold bean water. Still, I think this location is more than worth visiting, but stick with tea.

Seattle’s Coffee Unilocal Recognition Award: Best Foam Uptown Coffee is my coffee«go-to» in Seattle. While there is a lot of competition throughout the Coffee Capital, you can’t beat their infamous Velvet Foam lattes. In true Coffee definitions, all their lattes would be considered wet cappuccinos… Their secret is not in the type of milk used, but the temperature at which they froth the milk. I have being mesmerized watching the art hundreds of times during my daily recurrent caffeine-lows, but let’s not get into the fine details! Bottom line is their coffee + amazing foam topping with a dot = One spot on excellent coffee. No matter where I am in Seattle, I can make an Uptown Coffee run. Belltown, Magnolia, Interbay waterfront, Delridge, West Seattle, Alki, South Lake Union, Lower Queen Anne, Wallingford… they’ve got me covered. The majority of their locations have the tacky dark green carpet and artsy chalkboard menus, the space is nothing to be excited about. However, I will say that the Delridge/Youngstown location is the most spacious and unique with a Gameporium. Bookshelves stacked with alphabetized games for purchase are organized to the tee by someone as OCD as myself. Not to mention their antique painted walls that feature the historic Luna Park. All in all, give any of the Uptown Coffee locations a try.

Really awesome place here. The barista is always really nice and is happy to make anything you like special. They have a good selection of pastries too. I wish they had some more outlets so I could plug in my laptop when it runs low on power but that’s really my only complaint. The cool thing about this place is the games. It’s got a great selection to buy but also has a huge library that you can play for free while you’re there. More than that, there are people there who’s job it is to help you find a game you’ll like and learn it, even play it with you if you’d like. My last time in I talked to Jesse who was more than helpful and excited about everything I had to ask. This place is really excellent!

Trying to like this place. I waited 10+ minutes to order as the two coffee baristas were too busy talking than tending to customers. In the end they couldn’t pay attention enough to get my drink right. Probably won’t be back.

This place is a coffee shop and boardgame store rolled into one. They have the full Uptown Espresso coffee/tea/pastries/cookies as well as a boardgame library where you can pick up and play any game at one of the tables — and there are a lot of tables which is great. It’s not unusual to see families as well as adults of all ages playing boardgames there, as well as people with laptops(there’s some power outlets, by the way) and the usual café folk. They have employees who can teach and explain games to you, if you want that. They have a group(West Seattle boardgames) where people arrange times to meet and play games there. It’s pretty great, I wish more cafes were like this!

This Uptown location doubles as a Gameporium of boardgaming. I credit Meeples for starting me on this, but Delridge Uptown is like the Cheers bar of gaming in West Seattle– only replace the alcohol with coffee and light pastries. Delridge boasts shelves upon shelves of games in their free library to try, and full time Game«Wardens» are always on hand to answer any questions and teach you how to play. There is always ample parking out front, which is a good thing because there are gamers who travel as far as Covington and Redmond just to play here.

This is a busy location for gaming and meeting up because it is open late, hosts games and has plenty of seating at small and large tables. The mocha I got was smooth and bitter and nobody was coming over to bother us every 15 minutes to see if we wanted to spend more money or clear our table. Three hours and not a peep from the cashier. Fine by us!

They’re so nice here. This is by far the best Uptown in town. Keep up the good work, ladies!

Thou Game Lords your Espresso Dungeon is nigh! Closes late on Friday & Saturday. Delicious drinks, easy parking, niche hobby games you can’t get at a Walmart, Target, or Fred Meyers. This place rocks. Get your do-deco-hedron on.

Great atmosphere and fantastic board game selection. The lack of air conditioning makes it a little forbidding in the heat, but that’s not a problem most of the year.

Short version: Great coffee, hideous Wi-Fi connectivity. I’ve been going to Uptown off and on for over a decade. The Uptown chain’s coffee is really second to none. Plus it’s really convenient. REALLY convenient. Unfortunately, it’s only a place to grab a coffee and go(unless you’re a gamer), because for many years their Wi-Fi service has been a crapshoot. I’ve had to delete profiles, reboot, disconnect, reconnect and sometimes nothing works. On multiple computers, different operating systems. The Uptown at the Junction doesn’t have this issue(although not convenient at all). It drives me bonkers… or rather, DROVE me bonkers. Now I simply go elsewhere for coffee if I want to spend a while out of the house with my lappy, and use Uptown for grab-and-go only. All the coffee, none of the headaches. But it would be so awesome if my neighborhood coffee shop could get that last piece in place.

Excellent game spot: the collection, both for playing and purchasing, is impressive. They also make playing games more fun through a promo where, for playing certain games, you collect ingredient cards that you can then exchange for free drinks. If they had more substantial food like sandwiches or salads, it would be perfect for people who like to stay longer. As it is, a pastry isn’t usually enough. They do let you bring food in, but I’d rather not have to leave and some back, and I’m also willing to patronize the shop instead of spending my money elsewhere.

I love Uptown Espresso, they have amazing coffee, teas and snacks. I especially love this location because of the game emporium. All the games available for purchase are playable. My family and I usually come here a couple times a week to try out different boardgames over a beverage and snack. My favorite drinks here are the Iced London Fog and Iced Chai, I’m also quite fond of their short bread as well. Great place to study or just sit back, relax and enjoy good company.

I found the gaming staff to be very nice, the barista was quite rude. I was waiting to meet a colleague and browsing the gaming shelves, and I asked the Barista, «can you tell me about your wifi situation?» She replies, «you mean the one for paying customers?» There are way nicer ways to phrase the sentiment but given that the shop was empty, the attitude was wholly unnecessary to begin with. There are better game stores and better coffee shops.

Not only do they have great coffee, they also have lots of games for sale, lots of games you can barrow, large tables with space to play games and even a staff member to help you pick a game and show you how to play! We brought our own game, but the friend staff member still made a point of coming to talking to us. It was later in the day, so most of the treats case was empty, but the peanut butter cookie we had was very tasty. We realized too late that we did not get a photo of our tasty beverages and the cookie, sorry.

All the drinks are solid. The moo is probably my favorite. The staff are lovely and helpful. Only issue is the coffee card seems to be a bit of a commitment. Would be nice if it operated like a normal card.

For most part it seems to me like an average small coffee shop. The brew is decent and there are plenty of tables to sit at. The service unfortunately was subpar. Even though I was the only person in line I wasn’t greeted nor glanced at by the three baristas. In checking out what was left in the pastry case it was hard to miss the tiny bugs circling and crawling on the muffins. I hesitate in giving the establishment a one star rating because it does offer something unique, boardgames! The cashier perked up a bit when I asked if the open box games were playable. They are! In fact the bottom shelf around the entire store was available for play. Hopefully it’s just an off day.

This is a pretty decent joint! Located in the middle of a random shopping center but still super cool! The store has two awesome wall murals that look like vintage ads… nice to look at. The baristas seem really great and attentive. They were willing to give some advice on what drink to order. Definitely try the irish cream latte… SOYUMMY!
